[Read the article: Poland's female politicos disrobe]

Actually I have defended porn/erotica several times.

The only dismissive remark I made, was when I wrote that porn should be kept out of the reach of children, and if your children walk in on you while you are watching porn/erotica, then turn it off immediately.

As far as porn/erotica goes, I have my own fair collection of it; mostly in picture books, and in DVDs, but I am considering movies like "9 Songs", "Lies", and a lot of Tinto Brass' stuff to be porn/erotica (I like my porn to at least attempt to have a point to it).

Adult entertainment, is entertainment, as far as I am concerned, and I find a lot of adult entertainment entertaining, and I am not going to feel ashamed because I enjoy watching adult entertainment (but I am not going to let my kids watch it).

Actually my wife quite enjoys gay porn/erotica, but I am considering "Queer as Folk" gay porn/erotica. And yeah, it does the trick getting her into the mood. Gay porn doesn't do anything for me sexually, but if my wife is enjoying it, then I can enjoy it, and often I find the spoofs of main stream movies in gay porn hilarious.

On male gay sex and male gay porn I am probably the most opening mind straight guy you will ever meet, and I argue constantly with my coworkers that we should allow gay servicemen (and women) to marry. It's working in the Canadian military, so I see no reason why it wouldn't work in the American military (the ick factor doesn't exist for me in regards to anal sex, and I often get into people faces with lines like; "What, you got a problem with b*tt f*cking?").

"Hmm. A woman with a strap-on going at a submissive but masculine man? Now we're talking! LOL oops, sorry, I guess I just let one of my kinks slip out. Ahem. Moving on..."

I think you and I have seen a lot of the same porn.;)

My idea of the Brat Pitt erotic movie came up when I talked to woman about what turns them on, and they usually say chick flicks which strong male romantic leads. Can porn/erotic movies capture what chick flicks offer to women? Certainly, but the explicitness would have to have some meaning behind it (which is why I love "9 Songs", because it is explicit and meaningful at the same time). One of my favorite jokes it; why do women watch pornos all the way to the end? Because they are hoping that eventually he will marry her.

One thing I have noticed about gay male porn/erotica, is that it seems like the gay actors really love each other (where as in straight/lesbian porn/erotica you can never really tell if the women are faking, and a lot of times it appears as if they are faking). Though a lot of my straight married friends won't admit it, I think in general straight men today are less bothered by gay male porn then they were 10 years ago, especially after they see their wives/girlfriends get hot by it.

[Read the article: The happiness gap]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I'm going to attribute the happiness gap to something more subtle. Women actually care. For the most part men have become Monday morning quarterbacks more concerned about the fantasy football brackets than anything else, where as women still have to worry about their kids grades, their parents health, the price of groceries, the national debt to China, their sons, brothers, or husbands dying in Iraq, global warming, their husbands looking at younger women, and etc in addition to the wage gap.

What drives unhappiness in most cases is a sense of hopelessness, and since women actually care about the sorry state of affairs, it's understandable that they would be more unhappy, especially since men aren't getting off of their lazy couch potato asses to address the world's real problems.

Men are happy because they have the remote, and professional athletes are generating stats, so rather than worry, they shut everything else off and say "I don't care, it's first and 10 at the 20 yard line!"
