psychologize
[Read the article: Bill Maher: "Don't show me your tits!" ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The word "psychologize" doesn't show up in my spell checker, nor in my slightly dated dictionary, but your right, it is a word, though apparently a new one.
My bad, I'm sorry.

Thanks, you aint so bad yourself.
Now we're actually having a conversation.
No, I have not done an extensive study, but I lived in Japan for 6 years (I already told you about my line experience at Tokyo Disneyland), have traveled to 23 nations, and have spent time in every habitable continent except Europe.
In every country I have been to I have seen women breastfeed in McDonalds, and quite often they would breastfeed without blankets, and never once did I see the staff of a chain restaurant harass breastfeeding women. The only place where I have been where Breastfeeding is an issue is America.
Why, it's an issue here, I have no idea, but I think my theory is sound.
In any case here is list of other American peculiarities.
1. America is one of the few nations where keeping Abortion legal is even debated.
2. We are one of few nations that doesn't have Universal Health Care, that can afford it.
3. We are one of the few nations that doesn't use the metric system
4. Most nations have a parliamentary system, where as America has a popularly elected president, but if we had had a parliament, a no-confidence vote most surely would have gotten initiated a long time ago, and the Bush administration and Iraq war would have been put to an end.
5. We are one of the few nations, that's not war torn, where almost anyone can buy an assault weapon over the counter (actually I'm not entirely against that one, but still it makes America peculiar).
6. We are one of the few nations that challenges it's own separation of Church and State principle.
And I am sure that there are many more.

Er, rather lactating envy!
[Read the article: Bill Maher: "Don't show me your tits!" ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Every man has nipples, and most men and women get some thrill out of having their nipples licked. But I would never accuse a breastfeeding woman of being a pedophile, and that exactly what Stilleto did.
You are very sick Stilleto.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Do you realize that you have put almost all of your focus and energy into ridiculing and criticizing me?
I at least have offered a theory. You haven't offered one yet.
Back to my point (I thought you and I were having a converation, but obviously were not); the list of American peculiarities I gave was meant to start a greater narrative that I thought you might pick up on, but you didn't.
The list of American peculiarities I gave gives evidence that America is the most conservative democracy on the planet (or at least one of the most conservative democracies).
Why is America so conservative?
Actually Americans are not all that conservative when you talk to individual Americans. So in truth we are only conservative because our nation is run by conservative politicians.
Why do not-so-conservative Americans keep electing conservative politicians?
Well, I think it has a lot to do with our system of government. In a nation where it's winner-take-all in popular elections for the presidency, voters are forced to choose between 2 sides, with nothing left in the middle. If we didn't have a popularly elected president, I am sure that we would have a lot more then 2 political parties to feel comfortable giving support to. Coalition politics does not exist in America. Since we only have 2 parties to choose from, everyone flocks to one party or the other, and due to this scenario in America we have the populist/progressive Democrats vs. the alignment of fringe extremists known as the Republicans. On the global scene the Republican party is rather bizarre political entity to behold. Republicans have managed to bring together anti-separation of church and staters, Corporate interest/anti-unionist, tax haters, gun freaks, segregationist, State's righters, anti-abortionists, American imperialists, immigration haters/nativists, porn industry haters, religious puritans, creationist/evolution deniers, global warming deniers, and anti-feminists all under one umbrella. No way could such an umbrella group be formed in a parliament system, and conservatives outside of America can only dream to accomplish what the Republican party has accomplished within America.
Thus, harassing a breastfeeding woman, which everywhere else in the world would be considered rude and insensitive, is consider appropriate in America, because harassing breastfeeding women, is the puritanical/conservative thing to do.
What do you think of that theory?
In any case Leftchris, I am flattered that give me so much attention, even if it's negative attention.

Discretion!
[Read the article: Bill Maher: "Don't show me your tits!" ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Even if a breastfeeding mother isn't being particularly all that discrete, that still doesn't give anyone the right to harass them. Those of us who have kids, or know mothers, know that being a mother is a demanding full time job that requires a lot of juggling; career, family, friends, sexual demands of a husband, and etc. Sometimes mothers forget the blanket.
In that case what are they suppose do? Milk is dripping down their shirt, the baby is hungry and screaming, people are already looking, is she really suppose to care what you think?
Harassing a breastfeeding woman only compounds her stress, and it is one of the most insensitive things anyone can do.
America easily treats its mothers (probably) worse than any other country in the world, and the fact that we don't have Universal Health Care doesn't help matters much, so the next time you see a woman with a baby or small child, give her a break.
And if you harass a breastfeeding mother, under any circumstances, you are an insensitive pig.
I am never, ever, eating at Applebee's. Not that I ever ate at Applebee's before, because their food sucks (no pun intended).
