Feministing!
[Read the article: Feminist blog goes to the dogs]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Carol Lloyd, everything over at feministing.com is raw and personal, and the commenters over there have been arguing and spiting venom at each other on every topic imaginable for a long time now. They never really seem to get anything done; all they do is go in circles promoting their varying points, attacks, and counter attacks over and over again, until a new topic comes up, and then they start the cycle anew.
I have nothing against feminism, but arguing for the sake of arguing gets tiring and repetitive real quick. The women and men over at feministing.com badly need to get focused on something productive, rather than just continuing to trash on each other.

Don't Ignore!
[Read the article: Girls' suicide rates soar]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Raider is a case in study of paranoia that all can learn. I will use raider as an example to show to my a son as the kind of that man that you don't want to grow up to be.
@alarajrogers
Your thesis of girls learning violence has a lot of merit, and I agree with it entirely, but I want to add to it. One of the reason I have always assumed that girls/women have high (unsuccessful) suicide attempts is that at heart a lot of girls/women are drama queens. Yeah, I know that sounds slightly sexist, but hear me out on this one. I have noticed that my daughter comes to me every single time that her older brother bothers her, even if his offense was inadvertent or innocuous at best. How my daughter has learned to assume the role of victim at a such a young age, is beyond me, but I suspect that she is doing it for attention, because she knows I will be harsh with my son for giving my darling joy trouble. My mother realized that I was acting too swiftly on my daughter's behalf, where as if my son was having problems, I usually just gave him a lecture and counseling, so that he could learn to fix his own problems.
I have since stopped over reacting every single time my daughter cries, and instead I tell her to confront her brother with a piece of her mind when he bothers her, rather than running away to tell me about it, because if she seeks my attention is that fashion all I am going to do is give her counseling and a lecture.
I believe one of the causes of the increase in successful suicides among girls, which is still at a rate less than the rate at which boy off themselves, is that girls have learned to becomes more self reliant, and their killing themselves is less and less an attempt to gain attention. Contrary to popular opinion it actually does take a bit courage to off yourself. Fear of the unknown is a big factor in causing people to rethink their suicidal tendencies. Of course taking matters into your own hands, and fixing your own problems, takes a lot more courage then simply putting an end to your problems by offing yourself.
I don't think teaching young girls to defend themselves is a bad thing, and in fact I a fully support sending girls as young as 5 to martial arts classes, because in addition to learning self defense they also learn a sport. And I have no problem with teaching girls how to use guns, because I think everyone should have this skill (why be a victim, when you can put a 9mm slug between that asshole's eyes before he rapes you). But I have no intention of allowing my daughter (or my son) to own a gun while they live under my roof (I got enough of my own guns).

Femophob/Femophobia
[Read the article: Girls' suicide rates soar]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Femophob/Femophobia; Someone who fears strong willed, independent women, and the threat they pose to failing patriarchal systems.
I believe we can call raider6704 the first diagnosed Femophob. It sounds a lot better and more descriptive than troll.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]The next time I am in negotiations with foreign dignitaries, I plan on pulling out one of these Hillary nut cracker to show that I mean business negotiating for America's interest. Don't we want a mean, ball breaking, bitch in the white house during these trouble times? Imagine how Kim Jong Il would feel if he saw Richard Holbrooke or Bill Richardson sitting across from him cracking nuts with a Hillary nut cracker.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Why ARE some men so ridiculously insecure in their masculinity that a woman and her IDEAS can make them afraid?"
Well I'm not afraid, and being supportive of feminist (in my pre-married days) got me laid quite often. Yeah I know that's a sleazy thing to say, but it's true. Feminists are the best women in bed, because you rarely meet a cold fish Feminist, because Feminists like to be in control during sex, and a woman who knows what she wants in the bedroom is the best sex partner to have. Note that I said women not girls, because I have never slept with a woman who was younger than 22.
Strong willed, independent women are most alluring to the modern man, and though I am in a committed relationship in a nuclear family, I still consider myself a modern man. I can look, admire, and appreciate, but not touch, and I haven't touched another woman since I got married (and I never will).
