The rant is moot.

I think it's obvious America doesn't want this "healthcare reform".

We can discuss it at a later date but don't attempt to ram something down our throats that even YOU don't understand.

Have you no shame? Have you no common sense?

Democrats are self-destructing all over the place. You realize that, right? You guys are completely shameless. One day you are going to think for yourselves and I'll break a leg falling off my chair.

This is the United States. This is the place we tell our Government what we want. Not the other way around. Informed people make informed decisions and do not attempt to sneak things in the back door.

The bright side is that many of these legislators from the Democratic Party are going to be shopping for new health insurance next year. We all know that now.

@Rosenkavalier

"Is that why polls still show that more Americans favor the current healthcare reform than oppose it?"

Well, gee. You're going to have to share that with us. Who did you ask? Let's see your figures. As for me, I'll just point you to Gallop and every other well-known pollster in the country. Read for yourself. However, I'm VERY curious to know where you are getting your info from.

What the hell does Fox news have to do with it other than the fact they have more viewers than CNN and MSNBC combined? I haven't watched the news on TV in months.

Can't YOU do anything at all except rant? I've made it perfectly clear to both my US Senators and Congressmen and my state legislature what my views are as have literally millions of others.

I have a question for you with all of your common sense. Why are Democrats self-destructing? Do they seriously not realize they're only in power because we put them there and haven't removed them yet?

Don't they realize they will never, ever get away with doing whatever they want to do? The government today is a fucking madhouse.

One person here actually brought up Reagan's "damage to the economy" when 0bama has ALREADY spent more than Reagan did in his ENTIRE stint in the Whitehouse. Do you people not think for yourselves? (Of course not. That's evident.)

Then someone else talks about "right wing wackos got in a tizzy when Bill Clinton got a blow job" like that's the reason we got into a tizzy. Seems this person forgot that Clinton lied about it to Congress under oath (Which is called perjury and is a felony.) and got what you all wanted Bush to get (Impeached!) only there was no reason to impeach Bush. :)

Not only do most of you people indulge in 100 percent parroting of what others have said who also do no thinking about it, you resort to ad hominem attacks on people who simply print the truth that you can in no way logically refute otherwise.

Now, since you're all wondering what I mean by "self-destructing" I'll just say that come next year the Democratic Party is going to be woefully under-represented in the legislature. They have immediately set out doing what the majority don't want and it will, of course, cost them their jobs. They used to call it "making hay while the sun shines" but you're not supposed to make hay out of milkweed and brambles. It will bite them on their asses.

I Find Myself Speechless

The Democratic Party executes still another seriously mind-boggling goof up that is going to, yet again, remove blood from our collective asses for years and all you people can do is laugh?

That's what I find sort of comical about Salon letters. I can come here and enjoy a quick moment of seeing how those who are totally out of touch with reality think. Well, almost think. Then I realize the Salon Mental Institution isn't the only one out there and I get sort of depressed.

I'll feel a lot better next year.

Funny

This article was so much like Democrats and Bush I had to stop and laugh out loud. I wasn't expecting comedy when I started reading it. :)

Poppycock

Comparing the economy of 2009 with the economy of the 1940's shows you're no economist.

In 1937 this country had a HUGE amount of slack in the economy that we do not have today. When we started gearing up for war we began taking up that slack in small increments. When we entered the war in 1941 that slack-taking went through the roof.

Every other allied nation reached a plateau in their economy during the war years and the US economy was really just getting warmed up in August of 1945.

We came out of the war with about 53 percent of _WORLD_ GNP and a military that could have "made" Japan and the countries of Western Europe American states and no one, not even the Soviet Union, could have done anything at all about it. We had a navy 3 times more powerful than the rest of the world's fleets combined.

We accomplished this because of the slack. We accomplished this because of the unused industrial might of the United States in 1937.

But we didn't "take" Japan and Western Europe because we're actually anti-imperialists.

We started dismantling that military immediately and all of that "total war economy" money was injected directly into not only our economy but also the economies of Germany and Japan.

Look how much we had left over.

To even entertain the notion that we can repeat, or even come close to, the economic boom of the late 1940s is asinine. Don't look for that because it CAN'T happen. We no longer have the infrastructure we had in the 1930s. We no longer have the manufacturing slack. We no longer have the means to make what we consume.

Start building steel and textile mills among other things and we'll talk further.
