of conspiracy. You know, arbitrary numbers pulled out of someone's as... hat to "show" how climate change is affecting us. We desperately need this sort of smoke screen because, quite frankly, we can't see, ourselves, how climate change is affecting us.
It's like second-hand smoke deaths that number in the tens of thousands every year in the US alone. Taking the rest of the world and all the prior years humans have been smoking tobacco into consideration that number would have to be on up into the tens of millions of people second-hand smoke has supposedly killed. You would also think there would be at least ONE name of ONE person who has died from it but there isn't.
The sheep who lack a bit of self-thinking love this sort of thing. Next we'll be seeing these numbers stated as "fact" in the media. The only question I have is what flavor kool aid is this?
If rocks were falling on your head wouldn't you move out of the way? My sentence meant exactly what it says. If you need me to clarify what "You realize we're going to change right along with it, right?" means I can do so for you.
Now, in plain English with no big words like "realize" to trip you up:
Human beings cannot stop climate change.
If you need me to clarify that sentence let me know.
To droogoy I'd like to throw a "reminder" that not a single one of your "facts" stand up for 2 seconds to peer review. There is a word for the "facts" your stating here: Conjecture.
"Mr Annan said the report could never be as rigorous as a scientific study, but said: 'We feel it is the most plausible account of the current impact of climate change today.'"
The term "illegal occupation."
Whose land is Israel illegally occupying? Did they ever try to give it back? Does anyone here even know?
Another point to address is the fact that there is still no Palestinian state. Why not? Have the Palestinians ever been offered one? Really offered one? Why didn't they take the offers?
How has Obama changed the Middle East? The op piece stated that in the title then failed to deliver any backup.
How is the "Israeli-Palestinian conflict is a festering sore that has poisoned Arab and Muslim attitudes toward America for more than 60 years..." justified? The word "Palestinian" when referring to Arabs living in the former areas of Jordan and Egypt didn't even come into being until the 1960s. Would there even be a conflict if the Palestinians hadn't initiated it and kept it going?
If all militant Islamist groups aren't our enemies, sworn to overthrow not only Israel but also us here in the United States, what are they, our friends? Have you already forgotten how both Hamas and Hezbollah were dancing in the streets after 9-11? Even before they really knew George Bush's name?
Do any of you actually look at this opinion piece as "news?" It most certainly isn't a history lesson!
With great diplomatic skill, Gary? If I were you I'd find out who wrote that speech and start a campaign for him or her!
The War on Terror is dead? Since when? Do you *gasp* equate "terror" with "Muslim?"
Attack the messenger much?
Don't you even have anything to say to refute or agree with what I wrote? What I'm asking is, "Do you even matter?"
I must say your trolling is quite interesting.
I've looked at all of the accepted definitions of the word torture. I've looked at waterboarding and caterpillars and loud sounds and all the rest of the "horrid" things done to people who want us bowing to mecca multiple times a day--or dead.
I can't see any torture.
Also, what US laws did they break? Ask yourself this question: If they had broken any laws wouldn't they have ALREADY been prosecuted?
What the hell is all of this fantasy shit?
I don't have to sign a waiver. I did SERE when I was in the Navy. I was waterboarded and walled in exactly the same manner as the detainees at Guantanamo. You see, the trick with walling to make the "wallee" think he's going to get hurt when, in all actuality, the "waller" it is more apt to be injured as both SERE and Guantanamo records show. The wall is FAKE.
Torture generally involves being injured. Anyone who has really been tortured knows there was never torture at Guantanamo.
Like I said, and I meant, I don't see any torture as torture is very definitely and accurately defined.
Have you ever been waterboarded? It can be scary but you will not be harmed if it is done as our military does it. Hell, I'd like to do SERE again! It was damned interesting.
By the way, they tell you, point blank, that if we're captured by just about any enemy of the US our experiences with torture will be much worse. You know, like after refusing to read a "prepared statement" having to listen to people talking about cutting your head off or shooting you just before they actually do it.
You said > "...because we have prosecuted those very same acts when engaged in by non-Americans against our citizens or their own."
That is correct. They were prosecuted for torturing/mistreating Citizens/civilians and not combatants.
Also, for example, the waterboarding done by the Japanese in WW2 was nothing like the waterboarding done by our military in the 21st century.
These facts are all readily available on the Internet. Google is your friend.
