Too Ridiculous
[Read the article: Sex Fifth Avenue]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Djbollman- stop complaining. This issue is really too ridiculous for your overheated rhetoric. The article is intended to make fun of this tacky stunt.

Staying on Topic
[Read the article: "Men want facts, women seek relations on Web"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]This study strikes me as odd. If women are busy searching the internet for information on health, while men are bigger fans of chat rooms, it would seem appear that women want facts and men seek relations on the Web. The study is not as clear-cut as the article title would lead us to believe.

Maybe I just know lots of great people
[Read the article: Marrying for love or money?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]But I don't know anyone who has married for money. The very idea is abhorrent. Of all the married and engaged couples I know, both partners work and make about the same amount of money.

General Attitudes
[Read the article: "Meet the Dinner Whores"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I just read through all 18 pages of the posts on this article and I see few examples of women bashing men. I do, however, see a few men saying negative things about women in general and in particular. djbollman- show us some examples of this man-hating attitude among these posts.
And since we're all giving personal examples, I say "no thank you" to men who offer me drinks in bars, and I have no trouble telling female friends when they're mistreating men.

Don't Immediately Dimiss this Story
[Read the article: Ice cheerleader boos Rangers]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It's not necessarily "really easy" to produce other witnesses for sexual harassment cases, because those who allege sexual harassment have their names dragged through the mud. I personally know about 15 women who have experienced sexual harassment from a boss or professor- and I'm not talking about dirty jokes. I'm talking about women being propositioned for sex, bosses shoving their hands up interns' skirts. I realize this is anecdotal evidence and you can disbelieve me if you want to. But none of these women has filed a suit and only one complained (and was promptly fired). They were terrified of speaking up because they knew they would be disbelieved and their reputations trashed.
I don't know if this particular woman's story is true. But it shouldn't be dismissed out of hand, even if other witnesses don't come forward.

Newsflash
[Read the article: Hooray, Celexa took my sex drive away!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Women like sex too. Despite what pop culture would have us believe, it's a rare woman who would forgo this pleasure just to manipulate a partner.
If the LW's wife is such a person, then certainly she's manipulating him in other ways. Why the focus on sex?

Hausfrau? Facts are BORING!
[Read the article: My wife quit shaving her legs and it turns me off]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I was going to comment on the original article but the letters are just too funny to ignore.
It's fun to assume LW's wife is a housewife, even though in 2001 less than 20% of married couples consisted of a working man and nonworking woman. That statistic is from the U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of the Census, Current Population Survey, Series P–36, 2003, in case you want to check. But facts and stats aren't nearly as fun as assumptions.
It's also fun to assume that any person who says the LW should "get over it" (I would advise direct communication instead, but nevertheless) is a fat, ugly, unhygienic women with a unibrow. Because everyone who made that comment included a recent, unretouched photo of themselves.
But it's really the most fun to know that Brightstar trims his body hair. I'm so glad I know sooo much about Brightstar's personal life, mental state and physical characteristics because he keeps writing about them.

Not Again
[Read the article: The happiest wives ...]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Oy...UVA is my alma mater and I don't want its studies being "interpreted" by the likes of John Tierney. I'm so glad I refused to pay for Times "Select."
However it's important that we keep paying attention to articles by John Tierney. He's a New York Times reporter with a lot of influence and people need to be able to respond to his bullsh*t.

There are different kinds of friendship
[Read the article: During the blizzard, I refused to shelter my friend]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]But this isn't one of them. My relationship with the LW would be over.

Gee I bet Mansfield has a tiny...
[Read the article: The manliest of manly men, man]

LeCastor's Points
[Read the article: Good Manly America]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]LeCastor brings up a very important point about censorship. It's a valid one and should be considered.
So short of banning Brighstar perhaps there could be some sort of filtering system, as another poster suggested. That way Brightstar could still have his opinion (and there's only one, really, that he just throws out time and again) heard without poisoning the well.

One more point (last one)
[Read the article: Good Manly America]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Racism v Misogyny. Another poster brought this up. I don't doubt for a second that someone posting racist remarks would be censored here. Why is it that sexist comments are okay?

Why are they skipping?
[Read the article: Boys skipping school]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Why are girls more conscientious, as this article claims, and boys less so? Why is it more acceptable for boys to misbehave and miss classes? I don't think men are just genetically programmed to be less punctual than women.
I do know that nearly every time I watch a sitcom, a commercial, a comedy, men are portrayed as ignorant and irresponsible. Homer Simpson, the King of Queens and Raymond are not conscientious or intellectually curious. Children watch these programs and pick up social cues. If it's considered okay and normal for men to be irresponsible, then it's no wonder why boys would be more likely to skip class. And the people who write, produce and direct these programs and commercials are not feminists. By and large they are men. Why are men portraying themselves in this light?
