In my own Country!
[Read the article: Ask the pilot]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I don't usually find the time to post responses to what I read on Salon, but this one struck me. I had long ago forgotten decending on a Finnair DC-9 into St Petersburg in May of 1992 and being told not to take pictures. Then on subsequent Aeroflot flights between St Petersburg and Moscow (TU-154's, if I remember correctly)and Moscow Helsinki we were all forced to close all window shades on takeoff and landing. Quirky little details that made the tales of my 2 months travels in the heart of the "Evil Empire" just that much more fascinating. I had forgotten them only to find little more than a decade later my own country imposing similiar restrictions on my liberties. It might seem like a small issue, but I think it is more a sad commentary on where we are, and where we are heading. Thanks Patrick!

Hillary is a losing proposition Where is Clark?
[Read the article: Handicapping 2008, or the Frist-Kerry buzz kill]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Where is Wes Clark? Warner/Clark is the best shot the Dems have. If not Clark, what about any one of the popular "red state" female Governors? Warner/Napolitano? Warner/Sebelius anyone? Lets start building on the NE and the Midwest with the Mid-atlantic and the Mountain states. Georgia or South Carolina are not going to happen, but VA, AZ, CO, NV, MT ... those are real possibilities. How about a Warner/Napolitano send off from a convention in Denver? Las vegas? Phoenix? It sounds like a great start to me! We don't need anymore North East Uber-liberals, and that is coming from someone frequently accused of being an Uber-lberal. Sorry Deaniacs, but that's politics in the USA.

I agree with the first comment
[Read the article: Steve Jobs locks up the iPhone]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]And I also think you like to bash Apple any chance you get. You never let an opportunity go by without mentioning what a flop the iPhone will be!

I'm with the "Conservatives"
[Read the article: Placating the GOP base or protecting the workplace?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I am a very proud Liberal, registered Democrat, and all around left winger.
I however do not side with you folks who think that America owes every poor person who makes it to our shores a life, a chance, a job, healthcare, education, and God knows whatelse. Its not placating the Republican base. "The base" on this issue is the majority of America left, right and independant.
We are a nation of laws, and that huddled masses thing... Its a STATUE ... not a STATUTE
