    Great links to Odom articles.

    As to this:

When I saw your letter, I had assumed you had seen the Clemons post already. If not, you are quite astute.

I wish I could claim such, but my thinking on this has been influenced by the writings of Digby, who also deserves a Salon Column at the very least. S/He has been writing of the battle between realists and neo-cons in the Bush Administration since 2002.

For any who know not of the finest blogger alive (sorry, Glenn):

    http://digbysblog.blogspot.com

Atrios said it best with his comment that "if Digby posted more, I wouldn't need to blog at all" which sums up the only substantive critique I have: Digby doesn't post enough.

These people have shown zero respect for the Constitution or Congress thus far; why start now? I'm only amazed they didn't have some faux-WMD flown into Iraq in 2003.

I understand this line of thought, but still I raise the following:

    1) Don't ascribe too much power and ability to these people. Faking WMDs in Iraq is not a trivial thing to do. It wasn't done because it would most likely be found out.

    2) Even if Bush would ignore congressional limitations, then let's force him to do so. I heard similar sentiments about the first supplemental bill, the one with timelines that some said he would just signing statement away the timelines and take the money. He didn't: He vetoed it, an acknowledgment that he could not ignore the timelines so easily.

In any case, it is really just a matter of opinion what Bush would do if congress required him to end the war through whatever means. I want the theory put into practice and see what happens. One of Glenn's themes is how congress has been ignoring the constitutional crisis by acceding to the President's demands, to avoid the fight. It's appeasement and it isn't working. They need to draw the line and dare him to cross it.

    "Haw haw!"

the only addition I have for you Glenn, is that no doubt we will see this "forgery" crop up in every debate where one of these people participates. It will gain a kind of mythical status and get tossed in during any discussion of media bias or credibility.

They do this, because not everyone can be an expert of every issue, and when someone says "Oh yeah, well the media just invented a document claiming a food shortage" in months to come, the chances that someone else knows this is wrong will diminish.

Even when they lose, they still succeed in clouding the issue and throwing up dirt to fool those who don't studiously follow these minor flare ups.

Outstanding point. I often encounter that very meme on discussion forums that are not left-blog centric in terms of readership. Many who would agree with most of what Glenn writes are driven away because they think all blogs are nothing more than shrill partisan ranting.

It is no different really than the many other equivalence fallacies the right likes to engage in. Murtha's comment to a Republican is the same as Delay's house bullying, Rep Jefferson equals out all the Republican corruption, Clinton did everything Bush did only worse, and so forth.

So...you've got nothing I take it.

I'm glad the sock puppetry thing happened, because it a useful sign that Glenn has nailed the wingnet and they have absolutely no response. "b-b-but, SOCK PUPPETRY!!!!1"

See, idiots who go around making bold claims on specious evidence can be called out without one having counter evidence. If you claim the moon is made of cheese, I don't need to go visit the moon and bring back a rock to call you an idiot. Ace's claims were based on inconclusive evidence, yet he ran around as if it were iron-clad. That is what Glenn is questioning.

Also, don't use the word "bloviating" ever again. Sounding like Bill O'Reilly isn't a good thing, and only detracts from any seriousness you hope people give to your arguments.

What does it say about you, that you regard bloggers so lowly and yet spend the time reading Glenn's writings and even comment on it?

A blogger reading a blogger blogging about other bloggers and commenting on it derisively as if he is above it = moron

anyone would read that memo and be concerned is beyond me. It's not saying that there would be NO food.

So next time you visited the supermarket, if you saw notices saying there were shortages nationwide of certain foods, including fresh fruits and vegatables you would not be the least bit concerned?

Johnson explains why this is worrisome, that so long into the occupation, and into the surge even, the US cannot maintain a fully reliable supply train of food, and also cannot trust local foods since insurgents might poison it.

The right wing crazies completely overreacted and Glenn is only a couple of steps down from that in his reaction to them.

    Nuts on both sides.

This is idiocy. Where is Glenn hyperventilating about the contents of the memo?

Did you follow Glenn's links to the various other times Right wing bloggers have jumped the shark and denied obvious reality for far too long on pathetic evidence because it suited them? Remember the supposed invented Iraqi Captain who turned out to be very real?

Nuts on both sides, maybe. obdurate smug assholes in the "centre"? Certainly.

Guess it's just easier to pretend you are above the fray and gifted with superior judgement because nothing perturbs your zen-like calm.
