[Read the article: Should I come out as an atheist?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"However most of us have higher ambitions"
Depends upon who you mean by 'us'.
If by 'us' you mean rich, spoiled, overeducated 1st-world types who tend to frequent places like salon, then yeah, maybe. Though I would guess a good % drink &/or do other drugs.
If by 'us' you mean all of humanity, now you have a tough fight on your hands.
The average person on the planet would dearly love to have the excess time & money to go out with freinds & get screwed up once in a while on alcohol.
Unfortunately they, like the Gazelle, are too busy trying to figure out how to survive day-to-day to put much thought into it.

AL Quaeda
[Read the article: I'm dressing up as a melting polar ice cap]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Is occupying New York City??
Is that your position?
Jeebus, the political right is losing it's mind.
Here's what happened---some crazy losers got in a lucky sucker-punch. Then we went over & blew the crap out of them.
That should have been the end of it, except Bush inc decided they wanted the control all the worlds oil, so we invaded & now occupy Iraq. & are making noises about doing the same with Iran, since Iraq has been so successful.
I don't know whom I fear more--a few thousand crazy losers in the middle east--or a few million crazy whack-jobs right here in the good ol US of A.

Libbies
[Read the article: Invisible guilt]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Cry huge elephant tears about the BILLIONS of destitute people who (if very very lucky) staff sweatshops, mines & brothels of 3rd world countries, while driving home to their 6000 sq ft home in their $60,000 Mercedes.
So go ahead & stop buying foreign goods--that'll teach em. Then the small percent of the BILLIONS of destitute who are lucky enough to actually work in the sweatshops, mines & brothels (most have to pay a bribe to get these jobs) will do what, exactly??
And how many of you have EVER given ONE GOD DAMNED DIME OF YOUR OWN MONEY to support any of these BILLIONS of destitute you cry your huge elephant tears over???
Tsk tsk.....

@ AKA Smith
[Read the article: Teen forcibly shaved, pierced for being "out of control"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The only reason I can think of that 'annonymous' gets angry is becuz he is making a logical fallacy.
The majority of child sexual abusers are men. But the majority of men are not child sexual abusers.
I think he doesn't understand that second part..
Also--if you want to make text bold the html goes like this:
(texttexttexttexttext)-->>but lose the parentheses
Happy Halloween all, from Shadow & Shadow's kitty-kat ;)

Mormons
[Read the article: Mike Huckabee, on a wing and a prayer]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]What 'Botbot' forgot to tell us about the wonderful religion of Mormonism is that it is based on the belief that Joe Smith was tooling around New York when he came upon golden tablets from God.
These tablets told him, amongst other things, to go get a bunch of teen-aged wives.
When asked to see proof of these tablets, Mr Smith informed the questioners that Angels from heaven had taken them.
Research it for yourself.
I swear I am not making up any of this shit.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]>Why can't the father stay home?
The number of women I have met in my lifetime who would want this living situation for themselves I can count on one hand...after that hand has been chopped off!
I'm sure their are a few--but damned few.
It's a fantasy of liberal chatboards....
Now lets see your anger & rage--my gentle, loving libbies!

[Read the article: Bless me, Mother ...]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"To survive, the Catholic Church needs more priests to minister to their flocks and perform the sacraments"
Then by all means here's to it's death.
The Catholic Church has a singularly infamous past of brutality, & currently has a real-life nazi as it's Pope.
Good-riddance to bad rubbish.

Psst
[Read the article: Bless me, Mother ...]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]BTW, there is no God. No Santa Claus or tooth-fairy either.
They were all made up by your momma to get you to SHUT THE F**K UP and SIT THE F**K DOWN.
Grow up.

[Read the article: I'm in love with my bandmate]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Best of luck.
Do not be afraid to put your heart on the line if you really have feelings for this woman.
Lets say the absolute 'worst' happens and she IS playing you and she IS screwing other guys.
You will still win, because it will result in your own personal growth.
Learn to forgive yourself. And forgive others. We are all far from perfect. (Even you! AKA Smith ;) )
Take care, my freind...

[Read more letters about this article: Here]I don't know what half that stuff is, but I think I like you just fine the way you are. I gave you a wink ;) to to show you I was teasing u. That (excessive teasing) is one of my many many many flaws.
See you on another thread down the road :)

The 109th Congress
[Read the article: Life, liberty and the right to play online poker]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Couldn't get it's budget passed, couldn't balance a budget, couldn't oppose the war in Iraq, couldn't stop the mortgage debacle, etc etc etc.
But they did make a felon of Joe Sixpack for doing the nefarious crime of betting $25 on Washington State on Saturday.
They had their priorities in order.

Civilized
[Read the article: Happy Thanksgiving from Broadsheet]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]yes.
In other words teach them how to think.
As someone (sorry, the name excapes me now) once said "I've never met a 6 year old I did not find totally facinating. And I've never met a 16 year old I did not think was completely a bore"
What do we do to kids in those intervening years?? Send them to school to teach them to be 'civilized'.
