Why all the new stadiums???
[Read the article: All-Star dumb stat watch]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I'm a big sports fan...my favorite being the NFL since I was a kid in the early 60s. My question is...what is in the water that makes owners feel they have build these new stadiums? The old Yankee Stadium looks great to me, and weren't millions upon millions spent refurbishing it not too many years ago? Really, it looks great - unlike much of our infrastructure, including bridges, roads, and buildings.
I think we're fast becoming a Banana Republic with millions of houses and downtown areas falling apart and looking like something out of Blade Runner, while turning on the tube and see these grand ballparks and hear about players receiving hundreds of millions to play for a few years. If that ain't crazy, what is?

There is no need to act like howdy-doody
[Read the article: Cracking Code Pink]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I empathize with the Code Pink protestors who have been ignored by the media and political establishment...but acting like circus clowns is not the answer. Even if ignored it's better to protest with dignity like Mahatma Ghandi and Martin Luther King and their followers. Guerilla Theatre in the 60s was amusing, but had no political effect.
Code Pink has also made this mistake: they are protesting for Peace, but Al Queda and the Taliban will have none of it because Their twisted interpretation of Islam compels them to kill "infidel" men, women, and children "to please Allah." Yes, they are sick, and must be opposed as a result - not in Iraq, but in Afganistan, if need be.

and on....
[Read the article: Cracking Code Pink]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I mean that Al Queda does not need to to opposed in Iraq, because they are not a real factor in Iraq. If they were, that would be a different story. However, in Afganistan, Al Queda and the Taliban have a presence, and must be opposed.

This one's for Clapham
[Read the article: Dobson says he'll vote for McCain-Palin]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Clapham, this post is for you. I can't believe you're defending Dobson by accusing his detractors of being "bigots." That's like accusing me of being a "bigot" because I believe people like Bin Laden and Admedinajad are crazed religious fundamentalist fanatics - and I do believe that.
People like Dobson are the "Christian" equivalent of "Islamic" fundamentalist fanatics. He just expresses himself in a manner suited to the manner in which fundamentalist Christianity has developed in the West. If Dobson were born in Saudi Arabia he would be a Wahabi and definately want to stone women for not covering up. If he were an Afgan, he would be a leader in the Taliban.

Rebublican Jewish Group members are Schmucks
[Read the article: Republican Jewish group conducted anti-Obama poll]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The Republican Jewish Group are total schmucks to support John McCain and Sarah Palin and here's only one reason: while attending her Church two weeks before being selected to be McCain's running mate, Sarah was present to hear the featured speaker, was none other than a leader of the Jews For Jesus, who preached that the Israelis were being "punished by God" via Palistenian terrorists, for not accepting Jesus. This is sick and twisted stuff - but the Jewish Republicans don't mind.
The Jewish people have no business supporting anyone who thinks like Sarah Palin. Period.

tizzyfit and the meth pipe
[Read the article: What small-town America thinks of Sarah Palin]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Tizzyfit - step away from the meth pipe please.

Ahmadinejad is Way Over the Top
[Read the article: Obama goes over the top in bashing Mahmoud Ahmadinejad ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Ahmadinejad believes in an Islamic "End of Days" that is supposed to be similar to what the Christian "Rapture Ready" crowd gleefully look forword to: a nuclear holocaust followed by the appearance of the "12th Iman" - with people then accepting Islam or going straight to hell. Sound familiar?
Really, the cheese fell off the cracker a long time ago with this guy.

Mets are OK
[Read the article: New Yorkers write: "&$#! you!" ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]There's a world of difference between organizations like the Yankees/Red Sox/Cowboys compared to the Mets. I'm a Phillies fan and the Mets are rivals within our division, but I don't mind them - as long as the Phillies get into the playoffs.

Crowds at McCain Rallies can't believe it's coming to an end
[Read the article: Quote of the day]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Crowds at McCain rallies can't believe their extremist right wing heroes will soon be out of Power. Yes, it's hard to accept.
They've been consistently fed bullshit and poison from right wing radio talking heads and from the Fox "fair and balanced" commentators, and right now it's impossible to let it go.
But for me, it's a great day.

Sarah will always deny it
[Read the article: Palin family values]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]To Sarah Palin, it doesn't matter what anyone says....she'll deny any wrongdoing with a straight face and then will spew out the most outrageous lies. And then smile away with pleasure.
As an aside, Sarah chose to "drop the puck" at the opening Flyers hockey game a few nights back. She knew she was going to be booed and, in typical Sarah style, brought her 7 year old daughter to the ceremony as a human shield. What kind of parent does that????? Normal parents do not place their children in the middle of potential or actual hostile environments for any reason if they can help it. In Sarah's case, she did it for political gain.
Perhaps Sarah thought thrusting her 7 year old in front of the Flyer's crowd would quell the boos, but I doubt that. Her handlers must have warned her about Philly fans, who threw snowballs at Santa during half-time at an Eagles' game.
I think Sarah is a sociopath.

Sarah Palin is the new George Wallace
[Read the article: Sarah Palin: "The time for choosin's comin' real soon"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Sarah Palin is the new George Wallace. I remember when George Wallace when he ran for President in 1968. I was in high school at the time, and his "down home" enthusiastic crowds were no different from the Palin followers of today.
Wallace's followers felt the govt. didn't represent them and that minorities threatened their "way of life" - I don't see any difference in the Palin crowd of today.
And yes, Palin has a future, but not a bright one. Our country doesn't need division and hatred. People need to come together for something much better.
