Total piece of fluff. While I'm happy that Ms Yearwood makes such yummy deviled eggs, I just cannot see the point of this article.
Yes, I think she's fabulous, and I'd love to see her make it to mainstream TV exactly as she is. The endless bride shows are the best argument I've ever seen for banning ALL marriage, regardless of the genders of the participants. But am I the only one to spot the irony that the discussion of her yogurt spot focused almost entirely on which brand of yogurt is the yummiest?
I suffered a minor heart attack at 44, as a fit female with very low cholesterol. I was lucky enough to have the classic symptoms, although it still took a very astute ER doc to consider the possibility of heart attack. I was subsequently faced with a succession of cardiologists who shrugged helplessly and then handed me the same pills given to 70-year olds. I can't imagine how seniors cope with the side effects, as I found them completely debilitating. I finally found the answer - a younger, female cardiologist. They are few and far between, but worth seeking out.
But here's a thought - most females presenting with severe type 2 diabetes and heart disease are post-menopausal. Is it possible that women past child bearing age are considered less valuable? They are probably the same age as the first wife the doctor ditched five years previously for a younger model.
Liebermann already played a significant role in Al Gore's last campaign, I think it's time he did the same favor for McCain.
Of who should set John McCain's speeches to music. I nominate White Zombie.
I found the only way I could stop my own downward spiral of rage and despair was to switch off the TV and radio. I now limit myself to no more than 10 minutes of ranting per day. Today's rant took place at the local coffee shop, and was overheard by another woman in line. We then engaged in a very satisfactory joint rant about McSame and She Who Will Not Be Named. I felt so much better. And then I went and donated some more money. I think it's no coincidence that the Obama campaign raised more money this month than ever before.
Vital, my arse.
Here in Nevada, we see students, valedictorians at their rural high schools, who can barely make it through the remedial English class in college. Furthermore, cuts in funding for higher education have forced 4 year colleges to compete directly with community colleges for every student we can put on a seat in a lecture hall. These students would indeed be best served by a local community college, both academically and financially. They would be even better served by a K-12 system which offered a good education to all students, regardless of where their school happened to be. As long as education funding is dependent on local property tax revenues, there is no way that a school in Battle Mountain can provide the same education as one in Incline Village, Tahoe.
Here in Reno it's very different from 2004 - I can display an Obama bumper sticker without getting rear-ended on the freeway. Ever since the caucuses, there has been a feeling that things might just go our way. It's as if every democrat (small and large 'd') has decided that it's safe to come out into the open.
I'm only sad that Studs didn't live to see President Obama...
US insurance companies make their money not by providing health care coverage, but by denying it. Whatever the alternative model you wish to propose, it could hardly be any worse than what we have now - we pay more per capita on health care than any other nation, yet have the worst coverage and overall health of any industrialized nation. Primary Care physicians are stressed and burned out, and children die because they can't get a tooth pulled. Yes, there is rationing of resources in Canada and the UK, but that's just good economic sense, and the decisions on how resources are allocated are not made by insurance companies. In the US, we ration health care by the ability to pay, which I find obscene, especially when applied to children. I'd much rather wait a few weeks for elective surgery, and know that every American has access to health care.
You know what? I really don't care if he was actually born on Krypton. If it wasn't for the fact that it would make Schwarzenegger eligible, I'd say get rid of the stupid 'native born' rule - it implies that there is something about pooping your first diaper in Indiana rather than India that confers magic powers.
And I'd rather stick needles under my fingernails than attend an outdoor event with 4 million people.
But, I'll be watching on TV, in the warmth of my living room, and I'm going to do shots every time G.W. looks peevish.
Cheers!
Yes, and yes.

Personally, I prefer to get my sex education from someone who has had some (sex, I mean).
I'm told that there is a way for men not to become fathers if they don't want the responsibility - use a condom. What - don't even want to step up and do that?
For reminding me of Morecambe and Wise. Best laugh I've had in a while.
