I'm in my late 50s and I don't know if that makes me a first or second generation feminist. I would dearly love a woman president, and I would vote for Hillary if she got the nomination, but I prefer Barack. Why? Because I do not trust Hillary. I believe, and have since she was first lady, that she says what is politically opportune and expedient rather that what she truly believes. She also has at least one false memory that we know of, Bosnia, and I'm sure it is not alone. I can empathize with the young women who are being annoyed by the fanaticism of the Obama boys, since I remember when the civil rights movement and the anti-war movement were boys only clubs. We were delegated to kitchen and secretarial duties, and woe betide the woman who objected. However, it didn't stop me from being pro-civil rights and anti-war. That's the only message I can give you.
Why does this story not surprise me? He has only been honorable and noble when being so directly contradicts those around him. He has always had a nasty streak and bad temper. He can't be honorable and noble now because that spot is already taken by both Obama and Biden.
Great great quote, but whose is it? How do we know you didn't make it up yourself? Lord knows, it says all the right things and I would dearly love to believe a repub said it.
My main concern is getting it out to people who need to hear it, and it is more likely to be out there if the reporter can identify the source. But I can certainly appreciate that it might put him in hot water with the bad guys!
Do you know what the word "misogynist" means???? Trust me, as a fellow woman, I have to tell you that I do not personally know a single woman who thinks the criticism of Palin is unfair. So go back to the Texas anthill you live in and read a dictionary. And if you want to vote for this sad excuse for a feminist, be my guest. My vote counteracts yours.
remind me of every teacher I hated in high school back in the 60s. Maybe I dislike her because of my subconscious connection of her with bad teachers. No, I know it's her alleged thoughts that are the real reason. But the hair and clothes don't help.
25 to 30 years ago, I was a female pre-law advisor at one of this country's more famous universities. I thereafter supported myself as a public defender for over 10 years. As a result, I saw both sides of this gnarly equation, the upper class boy/men who knew how to talk as if they were not dangerous (but became so everytime they were off the reservation) and the townies who had not had any of the privileges of the university and were much more guttaral in their taunting and abuse of all those who did not fit. If this issue had been addressed 25 years ago, we probably wouldn't have been stuck with W. as our president. Go figure.
I don't care what Karl Rove says and it certainly won't affect my or my cohorts' decision on 11/4. And look at today's polls. Obama is back where he was before the conventions with a 2 point lead. Palin-mania does not help McCain if the issue is, as it should be, the economy. How come no-one is bringing up McCain's little financial problem in the S&L crisis?
I agree whole-heartedly that McCain's smile is creepy, smarmy and appalling. Will we have to look at it until he dies? Because you know he will be smiling big-time if Obama doesn't get off his butt and start motivating this country.
Please tell me where you got that Yale story. I'd love to read it and quote it to some people I know!
I've been a Red Sox fan longer than McCain has been in the Senate, and he's no Red Sox fan. And isn't it amusing that he picked two teams from states he has no chance of winning? And I just had a weird talk with my supervisor who does not believe that McPalin is a creationist who once proposed a fee-for-service for rape kits. Anybody got any good links to sites that establish these two facts?
McCain smiling ought to be the new hot-selling Halloween mask!
It just took forever to get through to my congress person's office to say no as loudly as I can. I was prepared, holding my nose, to support the original, but now? Tax breaks for the companies that make children's arrows? Even Ron Widen who represents some of these beneficiaries said no. And tax breaks to big corporations who got rich at the expense of the middle class? Hell, no. Congress is buying another bunch of lies from W and the democrats are the worst. How many times before they learn their lesson?
I realize a lot of people will be turned on by her folksy manner. But do we want a folksy person negotiating with foreign leaders over important issues? I agree, the wink was too much. Add to that the shoutout to third graders, and she has ruined any chance among serious voters to rejuvenate the ticket. In addition, she didn't answer half the questions but riffed off on some weird thought that she has memorized. Give me a break!
Of course Wooten knew about the Palin family. He used to be a part of it.
And there was an interview with Wooten on one of the tv stations, during which he said that most of the "threats" were only nasty cracks, and standard fare for a messy divorce. He also said that he was suspended for five days for all the terrible things he had done. By the same personnel system that Palin wanted her misdeeds adjudged by!
I confess I stopped watching after an hour because I was sick of McMean's whining and kvetching.
