Hi, Arvin Hill, I've actually answered your question, I'm sorry if you didn't see my answer. Xrandadu Hutman has actually reprinted it many, many times. Maybe he will again.
Hi, Joan.
If you're referring to http://tinyurl.com/2zrxqq, there's an oceanic difference between a response and an answer [http://tinyurl.com/44seth].
If you provided an answer subsequent to the aforementioned response, I humbly (and sincerely) apologize for the oversight.
The real story should be whether this strengthens the case for impeachment. [weeping for brunnhilde]
But that would distract Joan Walsh and millions of other anti-impeachment Democrats from their neato torpedo! festivities in Denver. They care not one whit about the very real crimes committed against the American people, the subversion of The Constitution or holding Bush, Inc., accountable for the war crimes leading to the destruction of Iraq and destabilization of an already volatile region.
Screw the human toll. The civic toll. The economic toll. The blood. The destroyed families.
No, the things that matter are the balloons, flags and confetti, moral posturing and righteous pronouncements about the moral superiority of the Democratic Party. Hillary! Obama! GO TEAM! By golly, everybody's in it to win it, and no amount of corruption, blood or institutionalized lawlessness is going to sway them from their ding-dong, the witch is dead euphoria.
By casually allowing Congressional Democrats to reject impeachment - and going as far as to defend their grotesque, unconscionable betrayal for purely political reasons as Joan Walsh and countless other establishment mouthpieces have done - the Dem Faithful have forfeited what little moral standing they had left after nearly a decade of jaw-dropping complicity with The Man You Love To Hate.
Meanwhile, as the ever vigilant Chris Floyd and Arthur Silber have continued to point out, George W. Bush remains committed to expanding the war into Iran. If and when that is allowed to happen, Democratic voters and politicians will simply point their bloody fingers at Bush, Inc., and rejoice at the likely prospect of winning the next election by a landslide!
From Silber:
You desperately need to understand this: the next President of the United States, no matter who it is, will enter office knowing that he or she can systematically and regularly authorize torture, order mass murder, direct the United States military to engage in one campaign of criminal conquest and genocide after another, oversee uncountable acts of inhumanity and barbarity -- and he or she will never be challenged or called to account in any manner whatsoever. It may have taken the Bush administration two terms to bring us to the point where such evils are committed and even boasted about in broad daylight, while almost no one even notices -- but this will be where the next President starts.
And for this monstrous, unforgivable fact, you can thank the Democrats and those who whore themselves for the Democrats' success in our disgustingly meaningless elections.http://tinyurl.com/3qowsv
And from Chris Floyd (5/1/08):
The latest and most explicit salvo of warmongering comes from CIA honcho Michael Hayden, who finally crossed the red line that Bush officials have been tip-toeing up to for months: the charge that Iran's top government leadership is directly involved in "facilitating the killing of Americans in Iraq." As late as last week, the nation's top military officer, Admiral Michael Mullen, said there was "no smoking gun proof" that Iran's leadership was involved in the alleged Iranian support for attacks on American forces. And Petraeus, in his many Tehran-baiting broadsides over the past few months, has likewise always stopped short of this war-triggering accusation.http://www.chris-floyd.com/content/view/1498/135/
Two days later, Floyd posted The Terror Master: Bush Orders Covert 'Surge' Against Iran, with Dem Support. Read it if you give a damn:

Few will bother, I know. Pernicious delusions of political salvation have taken root in the Democratic psyche, and tearing oneself away from it is an extremely unpleasant and difficult task.
You want a Democratic Party that means something besides double-talk, platitudes and slaughter-for-empire? Impeach George W. Bush and Dick Cheney. Short of that, redemption will not be forthcoming.
"Either he attended the church for 20 years and knew that gratuitous anti-white rhetoric was accepted there, and didn't care until he was running for president, or his church affiliation was mainly a political one and he wasn't paying much attention."
"Either she systematically excluded minority voices at Salon for ten years and knew that the near complete absence of minority writers and viewpoints was accepted there, or she was so committed to her careerism and cloaked aspirations to serve as Hillary Clinton's press secretary that she wasn't paying much attention."
Which one is it, Joan?
Not that I'd ever engage in demagoguery or anything. I'm just concerned.
Granted, you're not running for president. Maybe you should. Don't be coy! You're a strong woman. Who would you bomb first?
As a freelance marketing professional who fell into this line of work by habitually deconstructing print & television advertising, I can only laugh at the haughty indignation of people who deny they are being manipulated by advertising. Those who truly believe they are immune to persuasion are the biggest suckers on the planet.
Remove commerce from American "culture" and what remains wouldn't fill a thimble. Naysayers can invoke ideals such as liberty and freedom all they like, but such hollow assertions instantly collapse when one reflects on our collective failure to actually fight for those principles on the street. The systematic dismantling of The U.S. Constitution was carried out in broad daylight by those sworn to protect it, and, despite the election year rhetoric, few care still.
There's a reason why commercial boycotts no longer work: Because consumerism - at long last - has become our sole common denominator.
Ideals are, like, so Sixties.
And we can't have that.
