  • All I've said in the past about the futility of gender politics...well...

[Read the article: McCain raising funds off of "B-word" incident]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    Toss THAT out the window.

Imagine the uproar had someone in a Democratic audience had asked a similar question (someone refers to it below): Hillary, how do we beat that cocks&cker Giuliani?

The media would be covering it 24/7, the talking heads would be excoriating the Clinton campaign, and the Villagers would be shaking their heads in dismay over the lack of civility in politics these days.

Someone in a Republican audience asks an analogous question, and you hear....crickets chirping.

Senator Clinton, if, by playing the gender card in THIS incident, you can outraise the piddling amount of money McCain's pathetic campaign will collect, then I say "Where can I contribute"?

    You go, girl...er...b$tch!

  • "This first ad, if nothing else, perilously straddles the line"

[Read the article: Rudy Giuliani's anti-urban ad?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I don't think there's much that's perilous about this. Think about it. Is Rudy going to get New York City's vote? No.

    No.

    And,

    No.

So why not "bash" it? It will play great in Peoria...

Who cares how it plays in NYC? That's a lost cause, anyway.

  • Re: Poor John McCain! CNN and Rick Sanchez...

[Read the article: McCain raising funds off of "B-word" incident]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

And Rick Sanchez probably couldn't find his way out of a paper bag with a flashlight and GPS...So it's bad, bad, bad, when you get caught up by Mr. Sanchez.

McCain, of course, has principles, strength, courage, and everything else that the talking head political pundits are so infatuated with (no word on whether he uses Aqua Velvet), so this whole incident will be ignored.

Why isn't anyone who's so dismayed and disgusted and disillusioned over the "plants" in Hillary Clinton's audiences even asking whether this person was a plant? Huh?

That sound you hear is my head exploding with the hypocrisy of political coverage.

  • Dear Carl,

[Read the article: News flash: Giuliani running on 9/11]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    In light of this statement

"While Giuliani's supporters have long boasted about his performance after the attacks, he himself had not, until now, mentioned it as prominently"

I have one question: ARE YOU HIGH???

Is this what passes for political reporting? Rudy 9/11 for 24/7 Giuliani has all but claimed that 9/11 made him stop doing the silly combover thing with his hair. (But there's still time left)

    This is hilarious.

  • Ouch. I think I'm going to hurl....

[Read the article: Two Georges, one king]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

And thanks, anonymous, for the link.

The answer to the question "I wonder how many...." is zero, zip, nada, zilch, etc, etc, etc...

"You are such a man". Too bad the writers are still on strike. Jon Stewart would have had a field day with this one.

  • Hilarious

[Read the article: More men claim sex with Craig]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    Elephantman writes:

So what's the difference between Senators Craig and Clinton, other than party affiliation?

And a rightwing slime campaign continues...

  • re: MICKI

[Read the article: Craig denies new gay sex allegations]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Maybe he would have a difficult time proving malice, but why wouldn't he, in giving a statement to the media, launch a strong public relations campaign implying legal action?

Or, why not actually launch a legal campaign? Seems to me that if being gay is the awful sin Senator Craig seems to think it is, then, he should outraged over the smearing of his reputation.

This response seems a bit tepid...

[Read the article: Time magazine refused to publish responses to Klein's false smears]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I'm cancelling my print subscription with a letter explaining how deplorable I find Time's response to the factually incorrect Klein column (and the equally disingenuous "apology" Klein included in this week's deadtree issue).

  • Bill, dude...check out the definition of "rumor":

[Read the article: Rumor: The Washington Post does journalism]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Rumor: A piece of unverified information of uncertain origin usually spread by word of mouth.

Unverified information received from another; hearsay.

From American Heritage Dictionary...so would it have killed you and Mr. Bacon to, you know, mention that the unverified information had actually been verified and found to be false, nearly a year ago??

Stenography. That's what this is. And highly embarassing.

  • "...but the Congress I served in, that wouldn't have happened."

[Read the article: Cheney on Congress: Where are the men?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

True. And in the Congress you served in, Dick, your ass would have been impeached six ways from Sunday...so which would you prefer, you big stick carrying man that you are? Having a {gasp} woman keep you in line, or having your ass impeached six ways from Sunday?

  • Dianne Feinstein, when the bill is vetoed:

[Read the article: The waterboarding show]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

No one could have anticipated that President Bush would disregard the will of the American people...

    Heckuva job, DiFi!

  • Like the Gettysburg Address???!@??? WTF???

[Read the article: Romney's no JFK: He's George Washington and Abraham Lincoln combined!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Has she even read the Gettysburg Address?

    Is she high?

Oh wait. I may be overreacting. Lincoln did say:

The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here

And that is probably a pretty accurate description of Romney's tortured speech...so I guess there's some connection between yesterday's bloviations and Lincoln's speech.

  • But, but...the Democrats are going to launch an investigation!!

[Read the article: Democratic complicity in Bush's torture regimen]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

They'll get to the bottom of this, I'm sure.

Just like they'll suddenly discover their spines.

Nothing is ever going to come of this, is it? They've been complicit right from the start. And, in a sense, slimier than the Republicans, who, crazy as they may be, at least have been honest about their desire to torture people.

The Democrats remind me of Chris Shays of Connecticut. When election time rolls around, Chris talks about how much he wants to end the war. In between election years, he's a cheerleader for the war. And the public keep buying it, and Chris keeps going back to DC. Same thing with the Democrats: all talk, no action, and no consequences for it. We're just as much to blame, I think.

  • I think a more interesting question is:

[Read the article: Libby drops appeal]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Will the White House press corp actually ask for the While House to come clean about Plamegate?

I think we know the answer to that, too.

  • It's fascinating, listening to this man...

[Read the article: Quote of the Day]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

President Bush finds "true" facts to be interesting.

Any sense of how interesting he finds "false" facts?

And forget about the semantic analysis: shouldn't this joker already know what the "facts" are? Or are my expectations (at curb level, at this point) too high?

  • I saw that segment, and here's a piece of advice for HRC:

[Read the article: Clinton strategist: Sorry about -- cough, cocaine! -- that Obama drug story]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Do not, repeat, not let Mark Penn back on the airwaves again. He looks like a slob who hasn't changed his clothes in 3 days. Not exactly the image of inevitability, is he?

And why is Trippi attacking Penn? Shouldn't that burden fallen to Axelrod? Or was Trippi just piling on by mentioning "cocaine"? (oops!)
