  • Phenomenal idea!

I agree with the previous posters. A "heathen package" is only fair if a family package is to be offered. A lineup without CMT, Fox News, QVC, PAX or TBN would be bliss. Hell, I would happily get rid of Disney and MTV as well. Cable providers, are you reading? Hell, I think I might actually be willing to pay more to never have to come across TBN again.

  • Native arrogance

[Read the article: Mexican migrant women's dangerous journey]

The idea that those who are fortunate enough to be born to an American citizen on American soil are entitled by birthright to a higher quality of life is appaling to me. America is not a country club, and if we were to deny people entry based upon their financial status or contribution to society, then a lot of born Americans don't belong in this "great" nation of ours. Since when is America so arrogant to deny status to people who break the law? Hello, Kennedy family? Oh, I forgot. They're white and rich.

I often think that the people who want everyone to go through the immigration process legally have no idea how complicated the process is. Currently, it's taking over two years to legitimately gain citizenship, and the process isn't exactly easy. Try telling a mother with children that she only needs to put up with two more years of poverty before her children can have a better life.

Also, if the immigrant haters are so bent on stopping illegal immigration, start voting with your dollar. Buy American products, built with American labor in American factories. Sure it costs more, but hey, life isn't cheap and what you pay now is a reflection of pervasive illegal labor. Any takers? Didn't think so.

I lived most of my life in border states, and let me tell you that most of these little border towns would be nothing without illegal labor. The housing boom in Arizona? Immigrant labor. The food you eat? Probably made by illegals. Your manicured lawn? Illegals. I have worked with dozens of immigrants who were working their asses off to give their families a better life. They were the first ones in, last to leave, fervently loyal and dedicated, and more often than not, honest and moral. Are these not American values?

  • They would have been duped by anything

    [Read the article: Oprah's revenge]

If you're the type of person who needs to be told by Oprah to read a book, you are probably not the critical-thinking type to begin with. Anyone who wholeheartedly buys anything that is labeled as non-fiction to be free of embellishment or superlatives is a moron. Truth is in the eye of the beholder, and no publisher or editorial process will change that. This is why most of us have our own processes by which we assess the truth. The book wasn't great, but I don't think the overall message of it is changed by it being fiction. Why does it have to be true for it to be valuable? Labeling it a memoir was misleading, but if you are so personally offended by the label that you lose sight of the book's message, your problems run deeper than your reading material.

  • How sweet, you're adorable

Yes, women do use sex to control men. But men let them, and I doubt many are unhappy with this situation. And if you are so protective of your earnings, wear a rubber. I know it's confusing, but when you're in a position to lose your virginity, it'll make more sense. Don't worry, you'll have sex someday!

Women own vibrators because of douche nozzles like you. Isn't it fascinating that the men who indulge in woman-bashing are the ones who most frequently spend their nights with a crusty sock?

  • Guilt for wanting more? DTMFA

[Read the article: He has sort of moved in. How do I set some boundaries?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

It seems the LW feels a sort of guilt for wanting more, and is reluctant to express that out of fear of looking desperate or clingy. Maybe those sort of rules apply when you've just met a man, but not when he's practically living in your house. You, LW, have zero obligation to soften his fall or appease him in any way. You need to stop making this about him, and think about yourself. You deserve someone who isn't going to waffle on committing to you and who will acknowledge your relationship. This whole "maybe he doesn't know what he wants" thing is cutting the guy wayyyyyyyy too much slack. He's a grown man. If he really doesn't know what he wants, he should be classy enough to store his shit elsewhere and let her date other people. I mean, what kind of guy stays over most nights and uses your house to receive mail and store stuff and then says, "we're not in a relationship?" Give me a break. IMHO, he's using her and is playing childish mind games because he's craving control after being rather impolitely dumped, but that really doesn't matter. DTMFA, not because he's a douche nozzle, but because you deserve better.

  • because petite clothes are UG-LAY

[Read the article: Thanks for shopping, little lady!]

They are the nastiest things ever. I'm 5'2", and I won't step foot in a petite department. Where did the assumptions that short women love shoulder pads, ugly patterns, and waistlines around their breasts come from? Short does not equal old or prim. I have to alter pretty much every pair of pants I buy, but it's worth it to look my age. The reason why Banana Republic petites do well is because they are proportioned to fit smaller women the same way they fit normal sized women. Ann Taylor, J-Crew, and Express all make good short girl sizes too. Also, Joe's Jeans now sells a pair of their jeans with a 30 inch inseam, and all my short friends have bought them. So the market exists, but the clothes that the department stores have are just hideous. Not everyone under 5'4" is over 55. Good riddance.
