  • aint' it cool?

It's just too sad that I'm not one of Andrew O'Heir's friends. I mean, he once saw Courtney Love! He came within six degrees of separation of Bono! He lived poor and proud and artsy, and, ohmygod, his lifestyle connects him to bohemians in last century PARIS! I guess it's my own status anxiety speaking, not to say anything of my pretentiousness; that's just me, I have no choice but to live bitter on a sad grad student stipend on a regular (dare I say working class?) neighborhood.

Since we are dropping names, Pilsen is riddled with Mexican gangs and people there are afraid to wear red or brown, there is a chance they will be mistaken for warring gang members and shot point blank. Living like that sure makes you cool, as some Marcel put it. And to avoid finger pointing we so much love, I too am Mexican, only living in unhappening Edgewater where only one pretentious cafe carries local art that is, well, local.

Salon just keeps on piling up reasons for me to drop my subscription. Worry not, hordes of cool and artsy people -connected to bohemian traditions from far away- all around will take me up on that. In any case, Andrew, we should hang out one day.

  • data? what data?

[Read the article: My lunch with an antifeminist pundit]

Somebody please do this for me- call me lazy, call me busy. Whenever O'Beirne quotes "data" that overwhelmingly support her claims, there is nothing in what she sais other than "data" to back them up. Perhaps the numbers are in the book, but my money is not going to her. Will anyone, ever, take up on such "data" and see whether it is legitimate or, why would I think that, bogus?

Interesting retort for Salon, wouldn't it be?
