What I said is true. I'll accept your applauding as a hint of apology. I agree with you that many posting here are racist --but certainly not all whites are racist simply because they genuinely disagree with you -- and we really don't appreciate being slammed as such. As far as how a social justice person could sit out the election -- the social justice scales might actually DEMAND it. Just as you and others think it would be unfair to count all the votes (for whatever reason), others think it is unfair to not count them, or to try to prevent other people from voting in states that haven't voted yet -- since the election is a close one. I can't go along with an ever increasing trend to lightly disenfranchise people -- especially in our own party. Count the votes -- let the chips fall where they fall. After having worked in the Gore campaign and going through all of that, I may well abstain from another go around with uncounted votes! Actually, I'd probably write in Hillary if need be. But then -- we still have voters to hear from.

I agree 100% about the sniping and your other comments as well. One thing this process has clearly revealed is that there is much room for improvement in the way we do this! I've thought about it a lot also and see some possibilities. I think first we should develop workable systems so people can vote by phone, internet, or postal mail. I agree that so many states have had so little say in who they have to choose from. This is one of the reasons why I respect Florida and Michigan attempting to stand up to be heard earlier in the primary process. I think it would be good to have two "super Tuesdays." Half the states vote in the first one then the next presidential primary the order is reversed -- maybe have the two groups of states designated by alphabetical order(??)

Having two super Tuesdays would give the candidates some time to better define themselves and clarify, expand upon, or otherwise work with the issues -- hopefully through a debate process over a peiod of a couple of months between the two super Tuesdays. I like the fact that out of all this, many more people are being really heard than ever before -- we're having a real opportunity to look at ourselves and each other in a much deeper way. It makes me want to hear from more and more people in the future and devise ways in which all can be heard fully and fairly. Thanks for your comments.

  • Beyond sexism

Much of what we see surfacing that is written about in this article is actually misogyny -- hatred of women -- a step beyond mere sexism. I'm not surprised to see it surfacing.

  • Diversity

[Read the article: The rubes and the elites]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The body of the Democratic party and the population of our country is so diverse that we must select a candidate who can sincerely relate to and represent the interests of most of the people. A moderate is the answer. To keep us moving progressively forward, we need a PROGRESSIVE moderate. This is Clinton. Obama is much too far to the left to have a chance to win. Hillary's policies are actually the more progressive of the two anyway. Condescension and contempt cannot be forever disguised. You don't want to be telling the voters you're wooing that you are too good for them to vote for! Then pretend that wasn't what you were saying at all. This has been a sign of inexperience as wll as condemnation and condensation.

  • Community Organizing

[Read the article: The rubes and the elites]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Obama needs to understand someone needs much more qualification for President than having been a community organizer in Chicago's southside and having defeated such a lightweight candidate as Alan Keyes to get onto the national scene. He is post-peak and needs to withdraw to keep from doing further damage to the party.

  • Manufacturing

[Read the article: The rubes and the elites]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Obama went into PA telling people deported jobs would not be back. Hillary went into PA with a plan to bring them back. Obama saying: "No, we can't." Clinton saying; "Yes, we can!" And we can. Now is an excellent time to review trade agreements for revisions to revive our manufacturing sector. Now is an excellent time for new manufacturing jobs to be created as the demand for U.S. made products is growing as a result of the many dangerous and contaminated products we've been imported. Does Obama think jobs can't be created? Ask Hillary and Bill. They know differently. Bill promised to create millions of jobs and then did it. Hillary can do the same -- probably even better!

  • Vision

[Read the article: The rubes and the elites]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Some seem to think Obama is the only candidate who has (or had) vision in this race! Clinton has a vision of America prospering again -- of people in our country being fully insured with health insurance coverage -- of children actually being educated -- of cessation of war in Iraq (which the Bush admin lied us into). Yes, a President must be a visionary and she is. The difference between the two is that she can put substance with the vision.
