Homos

I know it is tempting to use stories of republicans going over to "the dark side" to reveal their hypocracy.

I think it is unfortunate that the left feels compelled to use homosexuality in this divisive way, separating us from them.

Original article: The straw man lives

Political motive...

or religious one? Weren't they striking at the Great Satan? Is there a difference? Is there a difference between what Osama wants and what the actual Hijackers wanted?

ANd why is GWB listening to the enemy when he won't listen to anybody else?

"the Soviets used to use the Congressional Record as a source of intelligence. "

And look where they are today.

But seriously, I guess this means we should limit other pulic information sources, like newspapers for example

Yeah, and all those other soldiers who got shot, that also could have happened here, because soldiers do have taget practice with live ammo, and anyway, we live in one of the most violent first world contries on the planet, so maybe those deaths don't count either.

Bull.

Every dead body in Iraq should be laid right at the feet of GWB.

Plus, as we have seen in the recent past, the military (read: Commander in chief) has not be exactly honest about how some soldiers have died, and how those deaths are counted

Look, Up in the sky! A shining beacon of hope...

Divine, all knowing entity who knows our deepest desires...A Shining Bright Star!

"why is the US Govt in the business of legislating abortion and gay marriage anyway? These should be state rights."

No, they are Human rights

"And I am pro choice up to the end of the first trimester."

And I believe that Parents should be able to terminate the life of their child until it is 1 month old

"even the democrat leaning people I knew and still know had a problem with 'gay marriage' and abortion into the third trimseter."

East Coast of where?

"I am starting to believe the public debate IS being controlled by the ultra lib internationalists who really DO want to destroy American morality as a prelude to a nanny state."

What the hell is a nanny state, anyway?

"ordinary life is beginning to return"

You mean, Sadamm is coming back? Or does ordinary life mean more of the same civil war that's been happening for the last 5 years?

Original article: Losing ground on Iraq?

I though I heard, on NPR,this morning, that...

Reid was going to keep introducing legislation to end the war over and over to embarass the Republicans - I missed most of the piece (yelling 3 year old) - Anyone else hear this?

"And then..

...He would spend the rest of his Presidency gobbling up this Nations stratigic reserve of fried chicken and watermelon"

Getting by on charm. Now, that is the pot calling the kettle black.

A good thing, too..

Because GQ, that bastion of political analysis, might have brought down her whole campaign

Tuesday, September 25, 2007 12:17 PM

Did you hear about the candidate that was completely self made?

Who didn't owe anybody anything? Who didn't reach out and use every available contact to improve their position in an upcoming election? Who didn't shamelessly use their family to promote their image?

Neither did I

"they know that we would put many people in danger"

Like father like daughter

Monday, October 1, 2007 07:55 AM

Not that there is any danger..

of McCain winning the nomination.

"this nation was founded primarily on Christian principles "

I am really tired of this drum being beaten. And I have no doubt that it is true. I am a commited atheist, but certain ideas are universal, like all people being equal, in the eyes of god or whoever.

Our nations founders would not have recognized these christians

What!?!?!

Ya mean wars cost actual money? I mean, a few (thousand) dead soldiers is okay, but really, money?

To those who would defend Jenna

Do you think it's a coincidence that this feel-good piece of drivel is coming out now?

Look, something shiny!

Wednesday, October 3, 2007 08:04 AM

"Now is the time to scream "

I could not help thinking about Howard Dean when I read these words by the poster above. A populist with passion, who should have been president (although he's been doing a fine job as DNC chair, despite anything you might here from Rahm nd his ilk). How different things might have been.

Why did his bid fail? Not from lack of popular support, but rather from a combination of a screwed up primary system and a lack of party support, a party that failed to recognize the changing tide in America.

Original article: What would Jesus veto?

To address Anon points a little more explicitly

We probably should tax big macs and cokes just like we tax cigs. Or rather, we should repeal the tax breaks that so many of these big buisinesses get, which allow them to produce this shit so cheaply, which in turn, costs us all when it comes to caring for these people. This is not a tax on specific people, it's a tax on products. Yes, it affects the poor disproportionally, but probably in the same ratio that they are targeted and exploited by the "free market".

A relevant aside - See the movie "The yes men" - There is a very funny bit where they have a presentation to a high school showing how we could feed the poor with their own waste - More and more this is not just and analogy

Soylent green is people

Original article: What would Jesus veto?

And to Paulw above

To fine tune what I said above, Smokers damage their children, thus the tax on them. The less people smoke, the less tax generated, but also the less kids will be affected.
