Original article: Gore in 2008?

I agree with Bolero

I like Gore even better now, but at the same time, I don't want him in the race.

The Dems already have a select few, high quality, candidates, and I think it should stay that way to avoid distraction in the electorate.

Now if Obama would only suck it up and run under Hilary, we would have a natural chain of succession, and what I think is an unbeatable combo.

what is true?

Is it true that she and Obama have similar voting records? If so, Bill is right and Obama is the one who is "trying to define himself" as diferent from her by provoking a fight.

I wish Hilary would focus more on the real reason why all those Dems voted for the war - Cherrypicked, and flat out wrong intelligence.

THis is not what the Dems should be bickering about, anyway.

The pardon

Is the kind of thing that he could pull out of his back pocket to distract the media mid cycle if something bigger is brewing against him - Remember his convenient timeing of the mars initiative? That didn't work, but it was clearly the attempt.

Original article: Apocalypse ... always

How many halves..

are in this damn movie, anyway?

Seems more like half lives - every time we turn around, we're halfway there.

The anachronistic analogy is consistant with the lack of modern understanding of the whole situation

One primary,

on one select day, for all states. No caucases, no straw polls, no exceptions.

Either that, or no primary at all. Now that would be fun to watch.

Bill Clinton....

Or, for an even better example, Howard Dean, can go onto Fax in a one on one situation, and hold their own - Because they are each sharp statesmen, and the format is not so restrictive, and they essentially beat Fox at their own game.

But, in the formal structure of the debate, this will not be possible.

Democrats need to stress the point of the inherent unfairness in the Fox news format, and continue to marginalize Fox. People are coming to, not leaving the Dems, and this dis will reinforce that.

Cowardice

Some have written that the Democrats are cowards for not taking on Fox. This is not so.

Fox carries with it this premise that the person who shouts the loudest, or cut you off the most, wins. That is ridiculous.

The silence on Fox will speak loudest.

You don't see Bush (Speaking of cowards) going over to talk to Kim. Same reasoning.

Original article: Taking sides

Oddly...

The Bush administration came under heavy criticism during the initial phases of the war for NOT keeping the Sunni army intact to assist with reconstruction. What's was the right answer then? I don't know. But this is definitely too little too late.

Monday, June 11, 2007 10:27 AM

The key phrase is...

"In the United States"

Guantanamo is not in the US

CIA secret prisons are who-knows-where, but probably not here.

Bobby G

I was speaking in the broader sense, how the administration has already dodged this issue, and how they will probably move to dodge it in the future.

If you drive around Baghdad...

In your armored humvee, you can finds real live human beings in perhaps half the city. It's astonishing. There hasn't been a car bomb here in perhaps 37 minutes, and we'll see if we can bring that down to 45. There is a real vibrancy in certain parts of Iraq when RPGs are exploding all around you. There is obviously still a need to help stitch back the fabric of society that was torn during the height of the Sectarian violence 23 seconds ago.

"We're on a mission from God"

"Each of my five sons gave two years of their life to the service of their church"

This is compulsory in the Mormon faith

"But I very highly value those who serve in the military."

'Cause then my sons don't have to do it.

"But it is a volunteer military and I hope that we keep it that way."

Neo. Hypo. Crite.

God help us.

Mr. Subliminal

MizB: "Did Romney say missionary work is the equivalent of army service? It isn’t clear that he did."

It never is clear with republicans. They just keep talking and talking, making making irrelevant segues that lead the listener to make a connection that isn't there. Mitts lack of clarity is not accidental.

While it is true that we do not hold the children guilty (or responsible for the sins (or good deeds) of the parent, Presidential candidates are willing to parade their families up for all to see, to demonstrate how worthy they are, and so I think they are also subjust to special scrutiny.

MizB "Dismissing all Mormons as mere annoying proselytizers is religious bigotry."

They are annoying proselytizers. That is their sole and ultimate purpose. Their history of racism, sexism, and abuse is enough for me, at least, to dismiss all of them. Read "Under the Banner of Heaven" which discusses not only the radical fringe, but mainstream ideals as well. It's frightening.

I can't remember...

From previous postings, which way does it go? Are we winning if more Iraqi's are killed, or are we winning if more Americans are killed?
