"Perfect we are not, but America still has some moral backbone"
We love our morals! We have our morals in our bones! Our morals rock! We have rock hard moral boners. Though we are mere sinners, our moral boners are a force for good. Our moral boners are the swords of our justice.
Our moral boners have omniscient eyes
Our moral boners swing side to side
Destroying everything in our path
Piss us off, feel our wrath
When our moral boner speaks, words of sweet cream and honey flow forth. Who amongst you would not fall prostrate before our moral boner? Who amongst you would not partake of the blessings of the boner, and drink in those words of the boner, and speak as if boner were in thine own mouth?
Okay…Group exercise.
Our moral boners are so big…How big are they? they're so big…
…That we need huge missiles to carry them around the world.
…That they have their own mercenary army
…
And I really think it bears repeating:
"Stop Making Sense"
That since Obama got the nod, the DNC agreed to forgo contributions for corporations, PACs, etc...
Yet they are lining up to sponsor the convention. How does that work?
According to Glenn, torture and government-sponsored mayhem are recent creations of the Bush Administration. But according to Niall Ferguson, we've been evil from the beginning of time.
War is hell.
Well, of course Ferguson is right...I mean, even Carter, Saint of Saints, admitted to "lusting in his heart". How could any of us pretend to be otherwise? We're animals. There is no escape. We're trapped by our nature. There's no sense in fighting it. We have to accept this nature as our own. We have to defend what is ours, and defend what our ancestors fought to defend - Our ideals.
See, it doesn't matter how we act. We got these things called ideals. These ideals, that's what the constitution is there to defend. Now, ideals are like sinnin' - They're something to strive for. Now, I don't mean that sinnin' is something to strive for. You know what I mean. I mean, nobody's perfect - You have to just try not to sin, and you'll be okay. Unless you're gay. Then you're gonna burn. But other than that, You're gonna be okay.
So it's just like that for torture. We just gotta try not to torture. This is what separates us from the terrorists. We got this paper, the constitution, that tells us we're not supposed to torture. We've pointed at it again and again, sayin' that we don't torture. Torture, that's pretty serious. We just need a little information. That's pretty painless. Information is good. It's not like pulling teeth. Okay, bad analogy. It's really not bad. It doesn't hurt when we tap your phone, right? It's just like that.
So, the whole point is that if we tortured in the past, then it must be okay to torture now. But we don't torture. Clear?
Gotta go - Kids are cryin' and I gotta beat some sense into 'em.
In mountainous region.
The media does that for them.
But not for the reasons you're thinking.
As far as her effect on the campaign, Ithink it would be a plus, or a wash, but not a negative. Still I think she could be far more effective separted from the campaign, and acting as attack dog. Do what you do best, and let Obama take the high road, as he has done thus far.
Along those same lines, she should be appointed Sec. of State - A good use of her talents in this area, and a good balance to Obama's relative inexperience in foreign policy.
Although, if it meant seeing Limbaughs head spin around until it popped off like a cork, I'd support a SCOTUS nod.
A tricky issue for Obama, for sure. But when the Woman was quoted thus:
The infringement on our rights occurred and has been addressed
Was this really an infrigement of her rights?
I think that is misleading, and also marks an important distinction. Discrimination and inclusion can only be legislated so far. We need to choose to be inclusive if we are to be viewed as a free and fair society.
And Obama should be able to demonstrate that he can choose to be so.
But still, I hope he's got more than hope.
Apologists out there, who would explain away this endorsement as politically astute, miss the point.
Sure, Thomas might be a long shot.
As some other black candidate that I know, used be considered.
Good thing for Obama that his supporters are not so politically astute.
Did Obama feel the need to get in the middle of this race at all? By taking sides, he is sure to alienate some, but not gain the support of anyone.
No net gain of support, is what I really mean. Why not just let the primary play out?
It just smells like some kind of deal.
Do the same rules apply to crosses hanging about the neck, or them little jewish beanies?
Just askin'.
Can we still call this America?
I'm a little surprised, what with the fairly large protests in England over the Iraq debacle over the years, that the English Left, ostensibly represented by the Labour Party, seems to be absent.
Is this Blair's doing?
Has their government been as co-opted as ours?
Even crazy people should have the right to get married.
I thought it was a pre-requisite, actually...
I was not making it into an arguement, nor did I think you were.
I can never be sure, though. I was trying to reconcile what you said with what I thought.
In bed.
