Family Planning wrapped with abortion

For more than the past decade the pro-choice community has been speaking out in support of access to affrodable contraception and comprehensive sexuality education as a means for preventing unintended pregnancies and abortion. However the "so-called' pro-life movement continues to wrap "family planning" and contraception in the abortion issue.

Democrats and Repulblcians need to keep talking about contraception and comprehensive sexuality education as a pubic issue every time the abortion issue is mentioned in campaign debates. Then and only then will voters see how out of step the pro-life agenda really is.

A late convert

I was a late comer to the Sopranos. I too was a critic, but then when I started watching the show I realized the nuances of the plot lines, the ironeis, the humor mixed with sick violence. I loved the ironies and analogies society..the "mafia family" dealing with the usual family issues; the mafia killer seeking therapy for his depression; Christopehr the drug addict seeking recovering. The brilliant analogies, hypocracies, personal life issues and violence very much reflected our American culture.

The Sopranos is a mirror and some did not like what they saw, others got it.

I always doubt those whos say "we don't watch TV".

My response to that statement is. "I don't watch TV, I watch HBO.

(of course I watch PBS too)

Surprise ending

Great ending. I was almost right about one ting. I prdicted AJ was going to join the Military. However his parents derailed it.

I loved the scene where Tony & Camella are vsitng AJ's therapist who is dressed in a manner similarto Tony's former therapist, and sitting in the same position with her shapely legs crossed. A complete antithesis to how most therapist look and dress. Then Tony goes off on his own stuff about his mother as Cammela give him the "look"

The best scene was early in the hr. When the guys are sitting around the safe houese playing cards with the TV in the background playing some old TV series. The dialog on the Tv goes something like this: A "What doe you want from me." B. "Get me out of this, so I can do a new series."

Anyway my othe 3 favortes are starting Big Love, and the Wire, and Curb Your Ent".

The new series "John from Cincinatti".. Ugh.

Have the dumbed down Nancy?

I read Nancy Drew in the mid fities and I remember Nancy as a bright young adult who lived with her father, not a dippy teenager. I don't even remember her having a boyfriend, who she depended on. It appears they have made Nancy into a dippy teenageer who needs her boyfrind to help solve mysteries. The Nancy Drew mysteries were orginally written in the 30s when, even in movies, women were protrayd as independent beings with careers and with minds of their own. When I read the Naccy Drew mysteries in the mid 50s, I liked them because they were a contrast to the images of women on TV & moivies. In the 50s women had been dumbed down in the media to mindless beings totally dependent on men. Thus the rebellion in 60s & 70s.

I find the images of dippy dependent females protrayed to girls these days very disturbing. It is as if the clock is turning backwards once again by the conservative forces.

Senator Clinton great poltician

Senator clinton, like Bill, is a great pliticain. She knows how to work a crowd. I saw a segmanet on CSPAN in New Hampshirewhere she was working the crowed. As she Greeted the locals, Senator Clinton dint't just shake hands and move, she stopped engaged in converstaions, asked questions and showed a genuine interest in people.

I was hot about Obama, but am starting to lean towards Hillary. I think she will put good comepentent people in her cabinet if she gets elected.

owan's are to iditos.

"The idiots in Iowa decide. Not you and me who happen to read and think." The person tht wrote this is the "idiot".

For one thing Iowas has always rated in the top 10 in the nation for education. In addtion, The most famous and best writer's workshop for atuhors is the "Iowa Writerss Workhop" at University of Iowa. Iowans actually appreciate and put thier tax dollars into education. They call those who teach in the schools in Iowa "educators" not teachers.

Iowans also understand the meaning and importance of "grassroots politics" Soemething the rest of the nation should learn.

I think Iowa is swinging back to ther liberal roots, after seeing the effects of the "compassionate conservative".

Mormon is nothing

I'm not concerned about Romney being a Mormon, after all so is Harry Reid.

My concern is that there is no Republican candidate that has

any progressive ideas for the future. In fact they have no new ideas at all. It is the same old Repubican bull:

cut taxes, terorism, don't let those women even think about abortion, family vaues, faith... oh I almost forgot, let's deport those nasty immigrants who do all our tedious work.

Remember when the GOP was afraid not to be Pro-choice in 1992?

Remember when coservative, meant conservation?

This nation is on the decline and we need some good progressives to put it back on track.
