  • houshold-chores & equality

[Read the article: The sexual politics of household chores]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Over the years the division of labors has evolved in our household. For on thing I was divorced for over 7 years with 2 kids before I met my current husband, and I have more own career.

Division of house hold duties eases resentment, thus probably makes for better love making. Besides it supports equality. At various time over our life we have had a housekeeper. We have always believed that the children, both girls, needed to help out. I would have done the same with boys. Now my daughters do with their sons. One of my daughters husband does most of the cooking. They share everything equally which shows I did a good job teaching the value of equality.

My husband and I just fell into our chore division naturally over the years. There as o you must do this or that and I always refused to irno his shirts, He did it until I convinced him he was dong a bad job and he finally stared taking them to the laundry. He takes them and picks them up. I cook, then he cleans up after me. I do most of the house cleaning, he does the laundry, (except I hide my very good cloths from him). I love it on Sunday might when we get into the clean sheets he has laundered and put on the bed. He loves it when I cook, he either cleans up or we do it together. We both do gardening, I do as much heavy stuff as he does. Best of all he gets up in the morning and makes the coffee, so it is ready for me. We takes turns pouring each other a glass of wine.

We are now in our 60s and could afford to hire a house keeper and a gardener, but we prefer to do it our selves. We hire out the heavy stuff..tree trimming & window washing. Almost every younger couple in our neighborhood even those stay at home moms have a house keeper, a nanny, a blow & go gardener, then belong to a gym to exercise. Over the years off and on, I have hated housework and sometimes resented it, when I was working. Now that I am retired I find it relaxing and meditative. Besides it is exercise!

  • Ugh really tough guys

[Read the article: War cheerleaders ask: "Is Obama man enough to be president?"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Really tough guys are not sexy. When are Macho men going to realize that. Of course maybe the bimbos like them.

I'd rather have a thoughtful manly guy like Obama making foreign policy decisions and leading this nation than a "cement in the arm pit" kind of guy.

Think of having our children looking up to an intellectual instead of a sports figure. I guess that's too much to ask for America.

  • Stupid reason

[Read the article: Who would the GOP rather face?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I've seen some pretty stupid reasons for not to voting for either Obama or Clinton but the worse I have heard to date is not voting for Obama because he did not put his hand on his heart while the national anthem was being played. Just goes to show you how ignorant misinformation is spread on on right talk media. First it is an altered photo. Second I have never heard of it being a requirement to put your hand on your heart when the national athmem is being played. I have heard of it being done with the pledge of allegiance. Neither is a sign of patriotism. Neither of these where part of our original Democracy or have any thing to do with real patriotism. Both were created decades after our Democracy was formed and both altered over the years. For instance when I started school in 1950, there was "no under god" in the pledge of allegiance. I was inserted into the pledge in the "commie going to get you years". Now "terrorist" or muslim" has been inserted for "communist" in the right scare tactics.

McCain is not going to be easy to beat. I voted for Obama and still think he is our best chance to win and is he best qualified to lead this nation. We don't need tough. We need a thinker, someone who respects other nations even when we disagree with them; someone show will use diplomacy instead of war to solve world porblems.

  • thank YOu

I'd like to thank all those who call Obama voters youthful. Since I'm 62 it is quit a complement.

  • Go Obama

[Read the article: Obama camp targets Clinton experience claims]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

At Last Obama speaks out on the exaggerations made by Cliton on her role in foreign policy decisions. Hillary's role during her husband's presidency was no more the "good will" trips, that every first lady does.

All 3 of these candidates have about the same experince when it comes to in foregn relations. McCain and Hillary have never had to make a crisis call on foreign policy either. They are legislators like Obmam.

So voters have to to look at judgment and courage. When Obama was running for the U.s. Senate he had the courage and good judgment to speak out against the war in a time of patriotic fever. It was a risk. Obama is not only a constitutional scholar, he is a foreign relations scholar. He has the courage and thoughtfulness needed going forward to craft a good foreign policy based on diplomacy not fear mongering.

  • Rosenkavalier Your Wrong

[Read the article: Obama camp targets Clinton experience claims]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Rosenkavalier says: "Ten years ago, all of the current presidential candidates were political "somebodies" on the national scene... except for Obama....WRONG!

10 years ago would be 1998:

    (1) Hillary was "first lady and had heldno elected office with no foreign policy experience.

    (2) McCain was a U.S. senator and was not rising, having been defeed ore than once inhis bid for teh white house

    (3) * Obama was a rising star in the IL Senate!!!!

    * In 2004 rising star Obama gave the best speech at the Democratic convention.

    * In the congressional elections in 2006 Obama played a pivotal role in fund raising and grass roots organizing for Democrats candidates who won.
