I really thought Obama would win here. Both congress women in Silicon Valley endorsed him. Silicon valley is made up of Santa Clara County and the northern part of San Mateo county. The area is large and includes both wealthy educated, working class and Hispanic populations. Hillary gets her votes from the working, middle and Hispanics. Obama get his voter from Well educated. There were thousands of targeted calls made in this area by Obama volunteers.I was surprised becauses the calls I made showed Obama being favored 2 to 1 over Hillary, but then I live in a wealthy precinct. Hillary got her biggest leads in the outlying conservative counties.
Asians is one group the pundits and campaigns have totally ignored. But Asians are a very diverse group in and of itself here.Asians are from every where here.... India, China, Japan, Veitnam, Korea, Thailand, the list goes on:

I am an Obama supporter, a woman, long time Democrat who just retire from a career in Silicon Valley. I can understand why many women in Silcon Valley might have voted for Hillary. Any woman who worked as an employee or as a vendor a Silicon Semiconductor high tech company here in 70s knows what it is like to deal with the "Old Boys Club". I think the term "old boys' may have been invented here. The "old boys", of the silicon chip innovators were the most nortorous sexist in history.
I really don't thinks I made a racist remarks. Wealth and education has nothing to do with race, especially in Silicon Valley. It is true that Obama seems to be attracting more educated wealthy voters. Maybe thye can see through the bull.
Both candidates are very qualified and good candidates, but Obama has the best chance to win in November. Obama has fired up the long time progressive wing of the Democratic party that has been sitting out elections. He has also brought many new young voters into the party. The Democratic party needs these new voters to build the party base. We need new leader to take us forward.
I fear if Hilary wins many long time progressive Democrats will sit out this election, some will hold there noses and vote, and we may loose some of these excited young voters and we wil loose in November. Besdes The time is now to build our party is now.
Then there is the issues is the Clinton hate machine. Hillary supporters think she is tougher and can stand up to the dirt dishing republicans. However there might not be as much dirt dished out if Obama is the nominee. What many Hillary supporters fail to understand is the right wing nuts are very upset that they never got rid of Bill. Since Hillary used Bills experience as her own, the right will have another chance to fire up their hate machine to attack both Hillary and Bill. Obama will only have to defend himself, but Hilary will have to defend herself and the Bill legacy. Something that will be a big turn off.
Guess I'm in a bubble here. I am older, just retired, had a professional career in Silicon Valley, a woman, a pro-choice activist for 10 years. I will not vote for Hillary just because she she is a woman.
Experience tells me Obama will be a better president and will win in November. Most of my long time Democrat friends in their 60s voted for him. Guess we are burstng the polling bubbles.
Hillary is a conservative Democrat and that is why she won in Silicon Valley.
In my own opinion Hillary gives lip service to abortion rights. while Obama supports its with action. He is more of a feminist than Hillary.
As a pro-choice activist and leader in the 90s I wokred as a volunteer fact worked with a NARAL affilate. Kate is right on. There are many excellent leaders in the Senate, House and across the country. Many were elected before Hillary. She is not a "first" and I refuse to vote for her just because she is a woman. In fact I think Hillary' campaign tactics have set the woman's movement back, by running on her husband's experience instead of her own. Her arrogance in regard to the right to to ascendancy bothers me.
Obama is fully pro-choice. In fact Obama wokred on strategies with Planned Parenthood in IL to help pro-chocie issues. When SD banned abortion Senator Obama was the only Senator to stand up and help raise money to defeat the ban. During Super Tuesday the Clinton campaign continued to distribute flyiers misrepresenting Obama's pro-choice record.
Obama like most of us who are pro-choice respect the views of those who oppose abortion, but he also works to assure that all women have reproductive choices, including the right to safe legal abortion. Besides not all people opposed to abortion support the pro-life movements attacks on sex education and contraception.
Hillary Clinton has been credited with the statement,.. "Reduce the need for Abortion...".Yet I heard this first from Kate long before the Clinton's claimed it for their own.
Why is it that many pro-choice leaders, who had first hand experience with the Clintons are not supporting Hillary. Think about it!!
Obama did not help the pro-life mevement in SD. Obama helped raise money for Planned Parenthood (pro-choice org) in SD to put a measure on the ballot that defeated the abortion ban.
