Too many parents blame the drugs

I think too many parents blame the drugs for thier children

s bahavior an mental health problems. I however can fully understand the nightmare. I have lived it. You may be feeding into his inapproprite behavior instead of trying to help him find ways to cope.

My husband and I took two teenagers 16 & 19 when their mother died. They were my husband's 1/2 siblings. At first we thought the 16 year old girl's problems were related only to her mother's death. However as time went on we realized there was something very wrong. The boys behavior sounds very familiar. The girl always seeked attention in very inapporiate ways, and after a year became very hostile, angry and depressed. She alienated any frinds she made at school wiht her hotile behavior and weirdness. We first started her with a psychiartrist who her pediatrician recommended. We were relunctant to use anti depresseants at first. But she got worse, was lying to her doctor, grads failing. Before we started her on any drugs, we had a complete psychological work-up,tests ect. by a psychologist who specialized in adolesants. She ruled out Asperger's syndrome, which is very simlar to her final dyagnosis... Schizo Affective Disorder, pychoisis. She also recommended we get a new psychiatrist, and also a psycholgist. In the beggining the new psychiatrist told us she couuld learn to function if it was only schitzo Affective Disorder and did if it did not evolve into Scitzophrenia. They also told us all could easily changed in her 20s. The psychiatrist put her on drugs and we found psychologist. She was also put in group theray with other teens and young adults to deal with her inappropirate behavior with others. You need all of them. Pychiatrists for the drugs, the others for therapy. It took a while to find the right combinations of doses and drugs, but eventually it worked. I looked up teh drugs online everytime tehre was a change and kept on top of it.

When she moved out for college, she fell apart wihtin 9 monthes and ended up in the hospital more than once. Finally the hospital recommended a very good live-in program. This helped her tremendously. She lived in a house with intense therapy, had to learn repsonsilbity which she was reluctant to take on before. Seh had group and individual therapy and drugs. Gradually after 1 1/2 years seh was moved to an indepndent living situation, but still connected to the program.

She is now 23, doing much better, off of meds, but still does intense therapy with a pyshcogist. She has learned to deal with it and knows when to avoid being around people, when she is ging into a spin. She is fortunate to has trust fund to pay for all of this. The drugs and thearpy in combiantion was a god send.

Problem is many pepple can get the drugs because insurance pays for them, but very few insurance companies pay for the therapy with a pschologist. It is key to have both.

All I can say is I am glad the nightmare is over, but everytime I hear of someone ging beserk and kiling a bunch peole or family, I think of her.

How about poplulation control?

I say NO. Unless the child has a genetic disorder, they should not be able to get a donors name.

I for one think al this invetro fertilizitn and sperm donation is being overdone. Why can't people except that they are not going to have children or adopt. Maybe nature is telling us something. We don't need any more people on this planet.

Beng a parent does not necessarily mean having a child wiht you own blood. In fact it has very little tod wiht being a parent.

Don't tell the amily but...

People have afairs, so what...

Anyone who gets involved a relationship man or woman who is married must accept it is for the fun and excitment.

What you really need to say to your sister is.

"If you want to have an affair wth a married man fine, but don't call me and cry on my shoulder. You need to reealize that this man is just in it for the sex and excitment. He is not going to leave his wife, and he is going to continue to have sex wit his wife. If you really want a lasting relationship find someone who is free"

Original article: The tortuous road to Tehran

ability to enrich uranium does not mean weapon grade

"But in the meantime, the nuclear issue appears to be taking on new urgency, with International Atomic Energy Agency leader Mohamed ElBaradei -- who is hardly a Bush booster -- warning in mid-May that the Iranians have advanced their ability to enrich uranium"

What is missing from this statement is the grade of Uranium Iran has on hand. You need a different kind of uranium to enrich for Nuclear power than for weapons, and once uranium is enriched for Nuclear power it cannot be used for nuclear weapons and vice versa. A friend of ours who is a physicist told us before we invaded Iraq that the uranium in the Iraq case was not nuclear weapon grade and CIA should have known that. So Iran has enriched a lot of uranium and is stock piling for future power needs. They need to buy a different grade of uranium to enrich it for Nuclear weapons.

I find it pretty incredible that the U.S condems other nations when we are going to fund replacing out atomic warheads with Hydrogen warheads.

it is rumored thet Newt is planning a run for the president.

However did anyone else noticee that Newt is starting to look a lot like Falwell. Is this a peronality transfer or reincarnation?
