A pompous Ass & a sexist.
[Read the article: Norman Mailer 1923 - 2007]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I once ecountered Norman Mailer at a performance arts event at in San Jose Ca. He grabbed my freind, forced her on his lap kissed her hard on tehe lips and whispered in her ear. She boltd off his lap red faced and angry. She would not tell us what he said, as she said it could not be reapeated. Maybe it was part of his performance. As we left we saw him insulting and pawing other women. He was completely full of himself.

ONe of my my Senators
[Read the article: Dianne Feinstein -- Bush's key ally in the Senate -- to support telecom amnesty]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Dianne Feinstein represents the moderate republicans in CA who no longer have a represntation in tehr arty becasue teh rpblican party was tknover by wing-nuts in the ealry 90s. She wins every election becasue the Democrats have Barbara Boxer to balance out Feinstein, and the republicans cannot get a decent candidate on the ballot. Republicans keep running riht wing nuts aganist her, thus the republicans vote for her and some of us Democrats hold our noses and vote for her.
Dianne Feinstin is lining up these same people to vote for Senator Hillary Clinton in CA., as Hilary is another Dianne Feinstein.

We are so far behind
[Read the article: The Smart car is coming]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]When visting Paris in 2002, I frst saw the Smart Car. I thought what a great vehicle for cities. They only hold 2 people, but they can park in such small spaces. I'm not sure peopel in the U.S can think sanmll. Many have been so used to driving their hunking, gas guzzling SUVs the past 10 years, and filling them up with unnecessary items from Costco. It was not only the Smart cars however.Teh casbs in Paris are all very modern, they looked small from the outside, but had plenty of room inside, and very comfortable, unlike the cabs in U.S. The other remarkable modern items was the toliets. I remember the days in Paris when yo had to stradle a Hole in the floor, even in fine resruants. The French however have even passed us up with pubic toliets. While eating in a small cafe in Canne, I went to the restroom, and as I passed though tthe kitchens ect, I was thinking oh god a hole in the floor would meet me. Instead I entered a very clean restroom, with very modern facilities. When finihied the toliet flushed, the lid folded up into the unit, automaticllly cleaned, adn then folded down again with a new platic seat coaver, ready for the next customer. I stood in amazement watching it.
I left France thinking how far behind we really are here.

[Read the article: The Smart car is coming]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The Smart Cars are not that small in the inside. I saw 2 tall people getting out of one in Paris, and they had 2-3 shopping bags in the back. Ofcourse poeple in the U.S have gotten so big & SO FAT. they might not fit.

Obama alwasy give rousing speeches.
[Read the article: Obama goes for the capillaries]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Obviously the author and many other pundents have not heard Obama speak before. The news media have been too obsessed over HIllary while many of us Dmeocrts have been watching & listening Obama. I heard Obama in SF at Women for Obama, last August. He was on my B+ list, but after hearing him he was on by A+ list. An intrview, is much differnt than a public speech to a large crowd. Obama is thoughtful and dignifed in one-on-one interviews. What I really love is his dry sense of humor, over looked by many.
There are a lot of voters who are sick to death of attack politcs, that is contantly promoted by political pundents and wonks. One of the many reason I like Obmama is the dignified mannn in which he conducts his campaign. Among my long-time Democrat friends: over 60, wealthy, advanced degrees.... most are voting for Obama. I think he has the best chance to win the general election for the Democrats. He is bright, new, face, loved by youth and us seniors from the 60s.

Paper dries
[Read the article: Public bathroom dilemma: Paper or air?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I guess I am hurting the environment, but they need to imporve those hand driers, they just don't dry your hands unless you try it 2-3 times. Has it been figured into the mix that many people use the dryers beyond the first blow. Has anyone figured the enviromental impact of using the old method of cloth towels, the ones that you pulled down and got you hands dry in one pull?

Recovered
[Read the article: Bless me, Mother ...]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I was raised in a devout Catholic famaily. Attened Mass every Sunday, went to Catholic high school. In high school I encountered my first feminist...nuns. I have since left the church, as the offical Church dogma has no respect for women, beyond birthing vessels. There was hope in the 60s when liberation theology thrived, and Pope John headed the church.
Many in my genertion left the Church, as it turned away from progressive ideas put forth.. birth control, preists ability to marry, and female priests, recongizing being gay is natural. Not only have the lay left the church, presits left and married, nuns left to seek carrers, fewer young men and women become preists and nuns, and many older preists and nuns just ignore offcial church dogma. I used to think we should all go back and take over the church and move it in a positive direction, but the church leadership has now been filled with "opus dei" cardinals and Pope.
It's too late for recovering for the Church, and I have recovered fully for being a Catholic. Thses women should move on and find another religion, or peace in their own spirituality.
