  • No perfect wedding

[Read the article: I want a perfect wedding, but my in-laws are trashy]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Everyone has relatives that embarass them, but that's part of getting married. If you don't want these people at your weeding elope.

I do however agree about children at weddings. I just don't get this genertion who think they need to take thier kids everyhere. My daugher recently was invited to a wedding and she was shocked that the invites said "No children". Well there was a time when you would not have to do this. Unless the invites says "Jane & Jim & family", it means just "Jane and Jim". Anyone with any sense of manners would call ask if it was alright to bring children, not just assume they can. I suggest she says to this young woman "NO" . Tell tell her to get a baby sitter, that you are not expecting anyone to bring children to the wedding including her. If you have not sent out your invites put "no chilkren" on it. There is no reason to feel guilty for saying NO.

We had an "open house" for our new house and we invited the adult neighbors. One neighbor called to see if children were invited. I said "NO". She tried to lay a guilt trip on me, but I refused to be guilty. So then she and her husband came in shifts to the party as she said.. "we came separately because we could not bring the kids". However they have a nannie who takes care of the kids during the week.

Even though I agree with you about not having children you cannot afford, this really has nothing to do with your wedding. As far as you preception she is trashing and "shacking up, as you put it, is rather judgemntal. After didn't you "shack up' with your future husband to be for several years?

  • I thorws us all

[Read the article: Middle age threw me a wicked curve]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Enjoyed the piece. As a staight female born in 1945, the first time I realized I was middle age is when a young clerk called me mam. Yikes I was shocked. Then shortly afterward on my 50th birthday and each birthday to follow I get letter from AARP. I tore my first letter up with much bitcing. Now I calmly throw them in the recycle. I made it through the bitchy years before menopause.. it does get better. Well excpet now I DO look my age. When I was 30 I looked 20, When I was 40 I looked 30, When I was 50 I looked 40ish. After menopause I look my age, but now still enjoying life.

However the new sterotyping is almost upon me... "senior" I just don't get why everyone is marked so early now. We never considered our parents seniors until they were in their late 70s. The first time some young brat at the moive theater offered me a senior discount I was furious. Now I figure, hey if they want to think I'm that old, I'll just take that discount. Recenlty a type of junk mail started arrving... Long Term Health Care & retiremnt homes. I will have to be taken kicking and screaming to one of those places.

Great a Christin mercinaery swat team. These contracting agencies hire ex-military men, some of whom cannot get or keep jobs in the U.S. I just hope when the Democrats take power, they get rid of thes kinds of contractors. Any Democratic leader is also going to have to clean out the CIA and other foreign agencies in order to bring an ounce civility and intlleigence back. If I were presdent I would disband the Homeland scecurity dept. as they are over stepping into every agencies work.

  • Milita movement

[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Remember the wing-nut Christain Milita movement in the 80-90s. McVeigh and Nichols, reponsible for blowing up the Fed bulding Okalhoma, were part of this movement. Many of those groups funding came from the same sources as Blackwater funding. In fact the same people who funded many segments the pro-life movement pro-life gorups, i.e. "Operaton Rescue" were very connectd to the miltia movment. It appears that maybe they have formed a new milita group.BackWater

  • Democrats don't have the votes

[Read the article: How the Democrats blew it]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

You can say all you want about the Democrats failing, but the truth is the they not have a veto proof votes and we have a president who seems to just be going "crazy" with his veto power, vetoing everything that comes acroos his desk. I suspect many polled on this issues do not even know or understand, the votes needed to over ride a veto. The reason I beleivee this..Democrats who haver remarked to me they thnk Democrats aren't doing enough had no knowlegge of how the veto proof votes worked. They were just listening to the far left rhetoric.

[Read the article: Mitt Romney's money machine]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I want to Huffington site, whre there is a connectin to looking at donors funding the candidates. In the wealthy zip codes in silicon valley, Romney is getting most fo themoney and it is coming from indiviuals connected to venture capitla and financial institutions.

  • Frankly no problem

I see not problem wiht a candidte funing his own camapaign.

In the decades past, that is how it was done. It actually kept out interst groups. I htink those who portest wealth too much are just jeaolus. someof ur best elders cme for welath. John Kennedy, FDR. In fact wealthy liberals are morr likely to be helpful to those who have less.
