  • Propspect for U.S. dim if a GOP candidate wins

[Read the article: Make room for Daddy]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

As I listened to the potential GOP candidates last night, I thought our prospects in the United States are DIM if any of these candidates win in 2008.

They invoked Reagan's name so many times, I was surprised they had not stuffed Reagan and propped him behind a podium.

So far I have not seen any news coverage that informed the public that every candidate said it was okay to overturn Roe v. Wade. Some even stated they would be delighted to see it go. Giuliani of course was speaking out of both sides of his mouth on the choice issue. First he says he wants to see Roe go, and leave it up to the states to decide. Then he later he says he thinks abortion decisions should be made by the woman in their own conscience, it is her choice. However a woman won't have many choices if ROE goes. Before ROE it was up to the states. In some states it was legal, some not. Women DIED from illegal abortions before Roe. Ronald Reagan legalized abortion in CA in 1968, then said he was pro-life when running for President. Hypocrisy rules!

The other absurd comment on Choice came from Mitt Romney, once

pro-choice. He said yes, he was once pro-choice, because even though he was personally opposed to abortion, he once supported ROE. However since Cloning, (stem cell research), I decided Roe v Wade must go. HUH? What the h--- does stem cell research have to do with abortion. NOTHING. Oh that’s right the antis believe that an embryo in a petri dish is a BABY.

Young women you need to get off your butts and defend your reproductive rights.

Then there was much chatter about how important FAITH was in their decisions and how American are full of FAITH..(meaning relgious faith). Implying that those without faith are un American.

When speaking about the Iraq war thay put on thier BUSH masks...the same LIES as the administration.

Nothing on the environment because most of the Republican candidates take the "flat earth" approach to science. All in all republican candidates have nothing new to say, no great ideas offered. Only the same old same old...cut taxes., cut spending, IRAN is evil... yada yada yada!!!

  • This expains alot

[Read the article: Who funds and runs the Politico?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Yesterday, I went to politico.com to vote on a question that I wanted asked of the republican candidates. The question I voted for got asked by politico at the debates... "Would you favor getting rid of Roe V Wade. I watched the debates and listened very carfully. Every repblican candidate including Guliani, McCain and Romney said YES they htought Roe should go. Yet on Poltico.com it was reported that all BUT Guliani, McCain & Romeny had said ROE must go.

So they are manpulating the answers in their reporting.

  • Romney's flip irrational

[Read the article: When flip-flopping is a good thing]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    I disagree with this posting.

"I think it's unfair to criticize Romney for flip-flopping on abortion. In my mind, flip-flopping means changing your mind more than once. Romney may have flipped, but he did not flop. I think he also did a good job of explaining why he changed his mind. His answer struck me as rational and thoughtful and made it clear that he is a human being and not a pre-programmed anti-abortion robot."

Romney stated his reason for changing his mind on Roe was because of cloning ( correctly known a stem cell research). What a stretch. There is nothing rational at all about this flip as Stem Cell research has absolutely nothing to do with abortion. The pro-choice movement does not even take a stand on the issue, as it has nothing to do with reproductive choice. It is just used by the antis as another outrageous attack on abortion rights. Of course these nuts against stem cell research believe an embryo in a Petri dish is a baby.

Next they will want to inprison women for having a menstrual cycle.

  • No NO NO

[Read the article: Should I tell my daughter about her mother's two abortions?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

There are better ways to inform your daughter. Have an honest talk withher about birth control, protection from STDs, how eas y it is to get pregrenant and the reponsiblites of

    careing for a child.

Even if you did particpate in the abortions , abortion is private mater for the woman who had the aboriton and there sold be no shame attached to the decison. I don't care how involvedyour wre.

Why not ask your ex to talk to your daughter.

  • Lefties & life span

My father was a lefty, Because of his age (born in 1906) he was forced to write with his left hand, but always ate with his left.

He lived to a ripe old age of 94 his mind fully intact.

  • It's not the voting system

[Read the article: Karl Rove's big election-fraud hoax]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The biggest problem is this country is not the voting system it is low percentage of people who vote. Young people are so apathetic in this country is it apalling. They just seem to understand how legislation local, statewide and national affects thier perosnal lives and many do not give a Sh-- how it affects others.

In recent elections in France 85% the of the people voted. In this country 35% of registered voters, vote. Think bout the people who never register. It is not that hard to register. 30 days is plenty of time. I have very little respect for anyone who gives excuses or does not take the time, register and vote.

However I would like to see these changes.

    (1) Limit time for campaigns to 3 months before primaries and 6 months before general elections. (2) Have black out of media coverage until all the votes are counted. No exit polls, No predictions (3) Do not allow people to be PAID to register voters.(4)Media must give equal TV/raido time for candidate's Ads. How abut a littel truth in advertising.(5) Crack down on churches politiking for the pulpit.
