I survived Lead

My genration survived lead laden tin toys, toxic crayons that actully produced great colors, Betty Crocker stoves, no helmets or traning wheels..just a few scrape and bruises, no car seats, you name it. Our generation took risks, rebelled and made chnges in society. Children hve been so over protected by their 'Helicopter parents" for 20 years, I wonder if will they are willing to take risks and become independent? Of course today's parents mabe too insecure to let them go.

Ykes Sioux City

I once lived in Sioux City, IA (or Cidy and they pronouce it).

IN the past Sioux City was full of progressive Democrats (mostly Catholic), Jews, and Lutherans and Methodists who wre mostly moderate Repiblicans. When I lived there, Iowa politics was progressive and contolled by Democrats. It has now been taken over by radical religious fanatics. When I vist I hear many complaints formd freinds and raltives about the new Mega churches and the politics they support. The old families who stayed there, are still progressive Democrats and and moderate Republicans( now independents). Most of their educated children left the area. The religious fanatics targeted the undereducated in their communities.

Just watch the crowds in Iowas around Thompson vs Hillary, Edwards, and Obama. You will see the diference education.

Iowas, has one of the best primary and secondary edcational system in the U.S. So there are still some bright minds there to vote for Obmama.

Not going to buy it in Iowa

Iowa's are not stupid and they are a poltically savy bunch having particapted for years in grass roots politics. The old " My parent's came the farm and did not get an education" is not going to fly in Iowa. Maybe Thonpson's dad worked for a farmer.

I grew up in the midwest and rew up on a farm,y parents owned. When lived there (40-50s -60s-70s) most of the children of farmers(land owners) did go to college. Why, because farmers had the money to send their kids to college. My parents born in 1906 & 07 grew up on farm and they went to college.

Many young people who own farms now, went to college and came back to run thier fmaily farms. So the "I didn't get an education" is not going to fly in Iowa. Beside Iowa has always been rated in the top 10 among primary & secondary educution. They pay high property taxes and and put it into education.

Like anywhre else Iowa has it's percentge of under educated people, and they seem to be following Thompson around. Also in in recent decades the religious right has taken over the R party in Iowa. When I lived in Iowa 60s-70s is was run by progressive Democrats and moderate Republicans.

Unreal

If you hold the lease it is your place, so you decide who stays and who goes. If thye are going to have a baby, they need to be to start taking some responsiblity. That means fnding their own place to live.

It's time to enforce the "90 day policy". In fact you may need a "60 day policy. Give them notice that you expect them to find a new place to live before this baby is born, or within 90 days.

If you move out. You need to give the landord notice, and then they need to negotiate a new lease. What ever you do, do not sublese to them because you will still be responsiblee for the lease.

Listen to Obama

As Obama says. Changing leadership is not going to change America. Change has to come from you. I know many reublicans who are fed up with the people who are now controlling the GOP. Why don't these Repbulicns do somehting about it. Moderates let the eocons adn social consrtavitves takeover ther party for their votes. NOw they ar running this country into the ground. Are they ging to vote for a Democrat? If so who? The Repubicans still like Reagan's "trickle up" economics, so they needa centrists ..that would be Hillary. If these moderate Repbulicans really want change, they need to get rid of the peple who took over their party.

I've been checking out who is giving to who, in different zip coes around where I live (silicon valley). The big money people in venture capital firms and financial investment firms are giving largely to Romney on the Repbublican side. Edwards is getting more money from Democrats in the conservtive zip codes (i.e Los Altos). Obmam is getting more money from Democrats Democrats in other wealthyy zip codes, Hillary is third in all.

In other zip codes where Obama is getting more money, he is getting them in combinatins of $2,300 and $250 donatins which adds up to more votes.

Its not Them Its YOU

Think about how you live your life. The politicians are reflecting the greed and glut of Americans. Everyone got what they asked. Those who did not vote, those who continue to drive gas guzzing SUVs, thsoe who consume, consume, consume., then though it in the trash. Those who live on credit. Those who cheat on test to get into college and don't even think its wrong. (big percnetage today). Those who do not take to the streets to protest this war. Those who do not speka loudly agnsit the violatins of churuch and state. You need to stop blaming the leaders and take action.

The biggest social changes and the most propersous times in this country have come when Democrats were in charge. FDR, Trumen, Kennedy, Johnson, Clinton. Except for Clinton's time the population helped push change.

MoveOn

Even tough I do not support MoveOn's AD, they have the rgiht under our consittuion to run any kind of ads they want to. Repblicans move just proves their dislike for Democracy in action.
