  • health care proposals

[Read the article: John Edwards turns on his fellow Democrats]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I renclty veiwed and cmpred tehhealth cre proposals fo teh Democrtat. Chris Dodd is the only candidate a truly universal proposal. I just want to scream when I hear the "more choices" in regard to health care. We pay taxes for Medicare(old), MediCal(poor), Militaryy, retired Military, Veterans program, all government workers. People who work for coporations do pay for health care as a part fo their benifts package, instead of higher pay. Those of us with high incomes, but self employed pay lots fo taxes and still BIG premiums for health care. We pay 13,000 a year in premiums, have a 1,000 dedcutable each, plus a $3,000 co-pay a year before our insurance kicks in 100%, for some services not even 100%. Peole in middle income who are slef emplyed often don't have insurance.

The simple soution is to take the exsiting Medicare program, turn it into universal health care for all citzens and legal residents. Get rid of all other Government programs. Each person wil pay a premium based on thier income and all will get health services. The money saved on adnmisterting of so many programs will be enromous. Each region can have tehr porgrams adminstered by exiting insurance ocmpanies, but they cannot decide what services we get.

  • Not that much use of Air conditioners

[Read the article: California power gridlock]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Residents I know in the Mid West and East use a lot more air conditioning there than here in CA. Except for the Sacramento and Central valley, mush of the populuaiton in CA is centered around communites on the coasts which have a natural air conditioning system, fog.

For instance those communites south of San Francisco benefit from the coastal fog coming over the moutnains each day in the evening and burning off about 10 Am to give us the perfect dry, 75. On rare occasions, lke this past few days it gets hotter. Very few people in my neigborhood have air conditoners. I guess however we now have larger poulations in HOT areas.

  • Is this that important?

[Read the article: Craig to cop: "I'm a respectable person"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Give Craig a break. Putting the audio up on the site, it totallly outragious. We all already know the Republican family values crowd are a bunch of hypocrits, but there are more important things to be worrying about than "almost bathroom sex".

  • Not an expert, but

[Read the article: Pat Buchanan's faulty diagnosis]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Pat Buchanann is is racist, sexist and homophobe, no getting around it. He uses "code" words and phrases all the time to express his predjuices. He was comparing Alcholism to homosexuality. The 'family values" republicans do it all the time.

Well, I'm not an expert on this, but don't you think that some guys are bi-sexual, then they get married, but seek gay sex in the toliets? However it seems like a very stupid and desperate place to seek sex, especially if you are a pulbic figure. Maybe I live in a liberal area, but isn't the day of having to stay in the closet over yet?

There is too much media play on the entire Craing incident and you can bet somehow the family values crowd will blame gays for this.

  • right on

[Read the article: This Modern World]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    Great and right on target.

  • You are an inabler

[Read the article: My son is almost 30 and won't leave home]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Give him 90 days to get out and if he does not think of moving yourself. If he has a job he can find a roomate or get a better job. He can sacfifice all his consumer goods to do this.

It seems you have brought this on yourself by enabling him. I have seen many insecure parents unable to let go, or parents who do too much for their children instaed of making them do for themselves. Then they get stuck. Letting go of children is a life long prcess beginning with Kindegarten, then teens, after 4-5 years of college they should be launched within 6 months.

Most young people who are secure want their independence,

and start letting loose and leaving home in college.

It could be your son has some serious emotinal problems.

  • No defense for Craig

[Read the article: In defense of Larry Craig]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Let's face it if the 'new" republlicans were not such moral hypocriters this would not be news. What is differnt about this case is it was attmptd "gay sex". If Larry Craig had attempted to hire a female prostitute, I doubt the Republicans would have been so quick to hang him. On one hand I am pretty much disgusted by all the attention this got in the media. On the other hand, I think Larry Craig and the 'family values' republicans got exaclty what they derserved... lots of atteniton for their hypocracy.

  • one more thing

[Read the article: In defense of Larry Craig]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I think it is equally disgusting that these guys have to bring out thier wives and families, embarassing them and exploiting their relationships, just to prove the fmaily stands behind them.

  • Not new news

[Read the article: Bush knew Saddam had no weapons of mass destruction]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

We all know that there wer no weaopns of mass distruction this is old news, and not the first time teh CIA has gotten it wrong.

Bush now has his suporters convinced it had to do with 9/11. Bush wil never admit his wrong doing, and the Democrats who signed on to thsi will never admit their lack of courage to standup to the patriotic dust strom swirling at the time.

Everyonee needs to move on. While I was agansit this invasion from the get go. I bleive we have moral obligation to help Iraq rebuild thier government/infostructure we destroyed. Also the Democrats will look bad in the next elections if the surge does work. Better to suport a compromise strategy at this point. I think the Congress & Bush need to agree to a timeline for gradual troop pull out begining in January 2008. You can't jsut yank everone out at once. I am aganist a permanent base there.

  • Nothing New?

[Read the article: What you missed while watching "Rescue Me"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I watched the frist R debate and that was enough for me. If a Democrat cannot beat any of these republican candidates, then it is time to leave the country.

They seem to have nothing new to offer. Is all they really talked about was the Iraq war? Maybe keeping them obsessed over the war is a good thing, since eveyone else is sick of it.

What no gay bashing, denying evolution, banning all abortons,

    and Fair tax schemes?
