  • Kp buick & 2 party system

[Read the article: The poisonous rhetorical legacy of Karl Rove]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Our pltical system was designed from the begginning to two party Democracy, not a parlmnetary Democracy. Independent parties, just split votes. Indpepndents often boirng new issues to teh tbvle, but they should do it wihtin the two party system.

Rove's nasty campaign tactces made Nixon's "dirty tricks campaigns look mild.HOwev er Dcemocrats just rolled over. They should have roll up their sleeves and fight this nastiness,

    but not with more nastiness.

  • Ignorance is blish

[Read the article: Scientists: Chicks like pink]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Oh give me a briak, anyone who has studied color knows tht most people are mor relaxed seeing blues and greens and more alarmed at seeing reds and yellows. In the 17th century Pink was considered a color of maleness. I suspect the influence on pink has been created by conditioning. You can bet some marketing firm

    paying for this study.

Not eveyrone looks pretty in pink, I in fact hate it and am appalled at the number fo mothers who are now running to pink again for thier girls rooms. I thought we got rid of those male female stero types in the 70s. Pink is for mushy minds.

  • Keep them in Jail

[Read the article: Pedophile blogger unfairly targeted?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Unless someone is a firt time offender and never offends again, I think sex offenders who molest children should be kept in jail or psychiatric units for life. They have proven there is no cure for this sickness.I recently heard a story about a neigborhood protesting the existence of a group home for pedophiles in thier neighborhhod. What a dumb idea put them all in one house so they can plan and fantisize together. Who comes up with these ideas?

  • Don't think so

[Read the article: Are Democrats really so lame?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

How much influence do these bloggers really have. I know very few people in my circle that even go to blogs. I recently checked out the Klos blog. I am a progressive Democrat, but Klos seemed over the edge. I also heard the Klos bloggers on CSPAN. A lot of talk and no substantial ideas. The problem with many blog sites both left and right is there are a lot of amatuer jounalists, and "Hot Air" from bloggers. There are plenty of wealthy people and middle income Democrats who are going to have more influence on this election than bilionaires and bloggers. Bloggers are giving themslves way too much credit for their own importance and influence.

I knew a few people who joined moveon.org last election, but have given it up. I asked to be deleted from their list as some times they go to far and feed the right media machine. Of course the right media machine has been talking about the "biased liberal Media" for over a decade. Right talk radio and TV does have much to do with pulbic opinion among the most radical of the right. The immigration argument is one example.

I however have hope. My conservative republican brother over the past 10 years has tried Rush, decided he was too much, then it was the Druge Report. Lately he is so disgusted with it all he now listens to NPR and watches PBS.

My circle of friends are Dmeocrats moderate republicans who are long time voters, wealthy, higly e andducated, and progressive. My repubulcan friends are disgusted with their party for two reasons: (1) The Iraq war and our current diplomacy(lack of it). (2) the religious zeolotry that been brought to thier party. If the Democrats cannot win aganist the current Republican presdentisl candidats. Its time to get out.

If people are upset about the Shivo case they should be equally upset about the Replbicans ranting about of limiting reproductive rights and geting rid of Roe V. Wade as Roe is based on the "right to privacy". If votrs are wiling to give up Roe, then they better be wiling to give up all rights to privacy.

  • What will Demcrats do if they win

[Read the article: Are Democrats really so lame?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Someone asked to give specifics on what we thought the Democrats would do if they win both the presidency and the Congress. First it is very importnt for the Democrtas to win a veto proof majority in Congrees, just in case they do not win the Presidency. I however think the Democras will win, as people are displesaed with more than just the war.

    1. Democrats can develop a more sucessful foreign diplomacy strategy.

    2. Democrats will assure our civil libeties are proctected.

    3. Democrats will protect reproductive rights, thus securing all privacy rights. Reproductive rights is the cornerstone of woman's civl liberties.

    4. Democrats respect the indepndece of the Courts more than the current Rs. Thye will appoint well qualified judges without an political agenda.

    5. I hope for progress on Universal health care, I however am not sure they can do . Chris Dodd is the ony canidate with a truely Universal Health plan.

    6. Democrats will make more effort to protect the environmnet, through funding of new technolgies.

    7. Education. Democratas will get rid of the bad componet(too much testing) and fund No Child Left Behind. Democrats will fund more college loans and grants for college.

Scince> Democrats have more respect for the importance of science and will fund stem cell research, and other reserch.

    8. Immigration. Dmeocrats will craft a more compasonate Immigration reform which should include more H2 visas and a smoother process, a path to citzenship for certain illigals who have been here more than 5 years and have no criminal record.

    9. I am hoping they will totally scrap "faith based" funding, as it is unconstituional.

    10. I have no doubt that Bush/Cheney are keeping this war going so they can dump it on the Democrats. We will be in Iraq for longer than we want, but hopefully Democrats will at least start pulling us out.

    11. I think Demcraats should raise more taxes. The Anti tax agenda of the republicans is ruining this country.

  • Slgaons for both parties
