Real Estate doing Okay some places in CA

Well gee. The house across the street has been on the market for 2 weeks, selling at 1.5 million on a 80 x 100 sq foot lot. It's close to a tear down. Many people came to see it at the open Houses.

They just put up a 'Sale Pending' sign up.

before 1900

The Catholic church did not give the embryo or a fetus the status of a human being until 1900. According to pre 1900 Catholic doctrine, the Fetus did not attain a soul until quickening.

Medical decisions should not be based religion, but on science and medicine.

We do however need some ethical rules (not religious) around the business invitro fertilization.

Original article: Pelosi's victory for women

Woman's Reprdicitive rights thrown nunder the bus.

"Even a basic feminist shibboleth like abortion rights became just another card for Pelosi to deal and swap."

and Camilla calls this a victory.

think ahead

If some people are so against getting rid of extra embryos why are they creating them to begin with? Thye need to think about this beofore they get into their 'ego' embryo production.

"to fulfill God's mandate to be fruitful and multiply"

The earth is full, so god's so called mandae is OVER!.

These people could be more Christ like if they chose not to have children and helped save the planet by adopting.

The U.S. does lacks ethical standards for invitro fertilization. We should not be letting doctors and couple inplant more than one embyo or fertilize so many embryos.

church & state

Well it appears the 'men in skirts' of the Catholic church are having trouble giving up power to control a country's policy AND WOMEN. The Church controlled Europe's monarchies for decades. Now they control U.S public policy.

Many of us left the Catholic church and now it is full of conservatives.

I left the church in 1971. 2 weeks after an illegal abortion while attending Mass from the alter the priest gave a sermon on abortion and told everyone not to vote for candidates who favored legalizing abortion. I left the church on that day.

The right wing Christians have now joined the Catholic church in their quest to keep women under their thumbs.

"P.S. Salon, your letters sections really, really suck now. Congratulations on taking a Cadillac-level website and turning it into a Yugo on cement blocks."

OH how I agree, Now they have screwed up the letters section. Unbearable to read.

I think the NERDS have taken over he design of Salon. No decent designer would do this.

They are not listening either! No one has complemented this new non design.

NO this is ALL women

This amendment expands the limits on abortion coverage to private plans which particpate in the health care coops.

We are expanding the lack of coverage of abortion services for not only the poor but the middle class and working poor.

vote them out

Vote those who do not support abortion rights out of office. Donate to those organizations that help pro-choice women candidates. Support only pro-choice candidates. WE did it before in the early 90s, we can do it again.

Those hear who say this amendment will not limit access who do not get that this is a assault on reproductive rights, limiting access limits rights. Not having insurance coverage limits access to any health coverage, so why would it be different for abortion?

If Demcrats don't cover abortion

donate to an abortion fund instead of the DNC.

We know from this blog many people think women are dispensable.

The biggest t point missed

This amendment to the House bill outlawing accesss to abortion, is the "Catholic Bishops amendment.

Do you want the Catholic church or any other religion running this country? This is a Democracy, not a theocracy. The moment those representatives who do not believe abortion because of their religious faith, step through the doors of Congress it is their duty to work to protect our Constitution, not their own religious beliefs, not the doctrine of the Catholic Bishops or any other religion.

This is not only a REPRODUCTIVE health issue, it is a civil rights issue, it is an issue of the violation of church and state.

Young women

You must put your feet to the pavement and make phone calls and protest if you want to retain your reproductive rights. My generation did. It's time for you to step up to the plate. If you don't you deserve to lose you civil liberties.

IN RESPONSE TO YOUR two points

"1) There are plenty of feminists who do not believe in abortion, and plenty of misogynists who do; portraying it as a "feminist" issue is dishonest. Feminism is about equal rights."

— APC2007

____________

NOT all women pro-choice women beleive in abortion, but they support the rights of all women to have access to legal safe abortions. You just cannot be a femiinst if you do not support all of women's civil rights

"2) An abortion is almost always an elective procedure. Maybe people are more concerned with providing lifesaving medical care rather than elective care." — APC2007

------

(2) So what if abortion is elective? Giving birth is also elective. Are you suggesting we eliminate payment for birth then? Late term abortions are necessary and NOT elective.
