I fear Democrats won't win.

Clearly the Republicans have a weak list of very scary candidates, except for maybe Romney. I don't agree with Romney at all on social isues but I believe he has more respect for the separation of church and state and is not as hawkish as Guiallni. Even though the Demcoratic candidates are much more intelligent looking thant the Rs, I fear we will not win in 2008. Afer all Bush won twice. A candidate has to win the popular vote by a big margin in some staes to get the electoral vote. I suspect the republicans are going to bring in a dark horse cnadidate. However Newt says watch for Huckelby as a dark horse.

Unfortunatly I still belive this country is VERY sexist and racist. Edwards may want to help the poor, but most of the poor don't vote, so he needs appeal to the middle class and many of them do not care about the poor. Obama appeals to both well educated, middle an upper class whites and blacks in the same way Martin Luther King, Julian Bonds did. Even though Hillary is probably the most qualified, and would build the best cabinet, the Right will bring out big guns aganist her, and Democrats will not vote for her out of fear of loosing the election. Forget Gore you cannot bring back what could have been. Edwards/Obama, Edwards/ Dodd, Obama/Dodd

Democrats need to keep making big specific promises and speak more broadly on future domestic policies and international relations, braoder than Iraq. Teh Iraq situation can either get much worse or better, either way large promises of a sudden pull out is stupid. Democrats need to present a more strategic approach.

It is way too early to tell. We should makes changes so elections only last 6 months, and get the "sound bite" consultants out.

Watch Cspan

Lately I have been watching "Road to the White House" on Cspan. Yes it can get boring, but you get to see both republican and Demcroat candidates speaches and tours in "out of the way" locations where people actually vote. The speeches are presented unedited, and without the media hype and opinions. They have intreveiws with candidates with relevant questions

and give the candidates a reasonable amount of time to answer.

CSPAN also shows many speakaers at the Press club. I listened to Newt the other night. Right now there is a conservative youth convention in DC and they are covering each days speakers. You can get into the mind of the conservatives by watching this. I also saw a program interview with the president of the Institute for Democarcy, who is midle eastern, spekng on Iraq. I learned more about how middle easteners really view te situation there and the make up of the Iraq parliment. This information you wuoud never get at all or unfiltered in the main stream media. Grantd the CSPAN channel that runs the congressinal votng is boring, but the other CSPAN channles have lot of good info. EVe watching teh British parleient is much more amusing and more intelligentt than our U.S. congress.

fighting war not that patrotic

Why wouldRomney's sons go? They don't need money for college, and they they are probalby smart enough to get in to college.

Lets face it we do not have a draft, even when we did most weathly educted young people tried to avoid it. During the draft, those who more intellegnt or had money went to college and went into the ROTC and went in as offciers, and Career offcers were more intelligent, the enlisted only seved their time. Look at our curren leaders. Cheney and Bush never served in Vietnamn. Bush did what many young men who did not have good college grades did....they joined the National"party" Guard, to avoid Veitnman. You can't avoid Iraq is your in the National Gaurd now.

I know I will get flack but... Let's face it today we have an all volunteer service flled with enlisted people who sigend up because they have fewer choice in life. Serving in the military is now a JOB. Recruitment is based on getting money for college or learning a skill. It helps those who have no money go to college get there and with no skills get some skills. It is less about patrotism than a job. Most did not voulteer to go to Iraq, they had to go because they signed up for the military and that is why recruitment is now down. Now we are scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Original article: Karl Rove's math

Posbbile reasons

It is not unusal for predentail staf to start resigning at the end of a presidency. The prosecutor is eeither on the verge of something big with Rove or he is going to be hired for his usual "dirty tricks" campaigin tactics by the RNC.
