"Can we agree to say: "We are committed to making sure that women faced with an unintended pregnancy won't need an abortion. She will have access to affordable contraception, good quality sex education and we will work to provide the financial and social safety net necessary so that every baby will have a mother who can provide for her. We will work for universal health care, paid family leave, affordable higher education, longer school hours, and affordable child care. We ask all Americans who want to reduce abortions to stand with us on these issues."

Yes.This is someting the pro-choice movemnt works towards, but all you have to do is look at the voting recods of family values, pro-lifers in Congress, you will see that they consistenyly vote aganist: access to affordable contraception, good quality sex education, financial and social safety net necessary, universal health care, paid family leave, affordable higher education, longer school hours, and affordable child care.

You see the fmaily values people who rant about abortion, don't really value women or real families.

If we don't have a change of leadership in this country, the Women on Waves may have to sail past to the United States.

Colarado is now trying toput a intiative on teh ballot to ban all aboritions, by chiange the privacy clause in the state consittution.

Abortion does not casue psychlogical or physcical damage. This is the latest BIG LIE of the antis. There is no medical proof of this and in fact the larger medical profession does to support the theory put out by the pro-lifers.

It is very sad that those who bleive ther are sitting on a moral high horse and oppose a woman's right to reproductice choice have to use immoral misinformation to promote thier cause.

  • Wrong again.

This 'liberal' crusading for abortion is why many people vote against their economic interests and vote Republican. They find the promotion of abortion as if there is nothing wrong with it morally offensive.

The pro-choice movement in United Sates is not cursading for "Abortion" they are crusading for "abortion rights". In fact they are crusading for reproductive "privacy" rights.

The fight for abortion rights is not a "liberal" issue. It is a "centrist" issue.

Wheter you believe abotyion is evil or terrible has nothing to do with the baisic question 'Who Decides...its a woman's personal decison '. It is not about whether abortion is right or wrong or immoral. No one is arguing that abortion is a great thing.. but it hs always existed, is neccessary sometimes and should be a personal decision" based on one's own beliefs or circumstances. It is a "privacy" decision.

There are no great anit abortion movments outside the U.S. except those exported by teh Right to Life Movement here.

  • cindy out of touch

[Read the article: Ready or not, here she comes]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I am a progressieve, and like most fo my friends, I have been agansit the rac war from the get go, but I know of no one who respects or even cares what Cindy does.Cindy, like some other lefties are out of touch. Yes the Demcorats now have a majority, but a narrow majority, a majority that is not veto proof. Impeahchment would be a waste of time this late in the game, and it if you impeached Bush then we would end up with Cheney, a very dangerous leader.

The Democratic party understands that energy can be better spent, passing legislation, neglected by the Republicans in 2006, and preparing for the next elections. Democrats cannot stop the war or funding for it, until they get a majority vote that is veto proof. The tactis of the Democrats in Senate and te House in regard to the war shows good poltical manuervering,as it empahsis those politicans who oppose and support the failed war Iraq war stratigies, thus building a case aganist or for candidates in the 2008 elections.

  • The new brown shirts

[Read the article: Michelle Malkin's hate sites]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

O'reily, Malkins, Coulter, Limbaugh are the new "brown shirts" of the far right movement. The only differnce between them and Hitlar's "brown shirts" is they use the new unregualted media to beat up their enimies, instead fo brutt force. Of course Hitler also had a very sophisticated propganda network he used aganist jews, gays, lesbains femenists, abortion, communist.

I just bet thier assualut on blacks is an effort to discredit Obmama whtout direct hits.

We ned o bring back teh "fair and accruacy" in teh dmida laws

    dimantled by Reagan.

  • GOP imploding from within

[Read the article: Why the Republicans don't like their candidates]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The GOP is not so grand anymore. The repubclicans are getting what they deserve. Tehy allowed ther conservative party to be overtken by two rightist groups (1) The Christain right (2) far right neocons. All voters got what they deserved by not listening to teh warning about Bush/cheney.

Most repiublcnas I know wil not even admit or they apologize for being republican these days. NO repulbican candidate has gotten any endorement from the usual high tech republicans in silicon valley. The fiscal conservatives in the Republican party can now look to the Democrats to support thier corparate intersts. Maybe before the 2008 the true conservative republicans will stand up and take their party back from the radical religious nuts and the disaterous neocons. Even though I disagree with Romney on all social issues, he is the only "decent" republican candidate.

What coudld even be worse however is Newt saving the day for the GOP.

  • Afraid of unscripted debate

[Read the article: No populism, please]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The Republicns are just afraid of "taking chances" with an unscripted debate that is not controlled by right-wing media . Thier most likely afraid they are going to get hard questions about science, which they do not support, or their lack of support for the Constitusional questions on seaparation of church and state. All the republicans have based ther campaigns on fear and myths, so a few hard questons on relevant issues may be keeping them away. I supsect what they fear the most is "loosing control" of the orchestration of questions asked. OR Maybe they think the people who pay attention to You-tube don't really vote anyway.
