In Sspeonse to JPIIConserve

So what is the rationale that homosexual marriage will hurt hetrosexual marriage? Since Gay can't marry now, and hetrosexuals still get divorced andhave troubled marriages, how could it be that gays and lesbains could hurt hetrosexual marriages? I just don't see the logic in it at all. I doubt if gays or lesbians gettng married will impact my marriage on any other hetrosexual. It's nothing but a "Wedge Issue" to get out the religous right voters, and this minority are the only ones who realy care if homosexuals marry or not.

Frankly I think Gay community made a BIG mistake using the term marriage in their drive for civil rights. The solution is to change all laws nationwide. Change" civil marriage license" to "civil union license. Then allow all couples hetro or homo to obtain a "civl union license". Each Religion then decides if they want to allow a "religious marriage ceramony". This way all couples get the same civil rights privilages. Marriage in a religious ceramony is not legally binding anyway. It is jsut an affirmation of one's faith. Religious gays can then choose churches that value their faith.

Oh so wrong about Catholics

To assume that Catholics are going to vote in a block on life issues is a crock. I am a have recovered Catholic, but I still have many members of my family who attend church and practice ther fatih in thier own conscience. Like The majority of Catholics, they are pro-choice on the abortion issue. Last election cycle I had a 75 year old aunt who was a devout Catholic leave the church after hearing nothing but anti gay and anti abortion election rhetoric from the pulpit of her church in LA. A diocese which is paying out out heavily for abuse, and then blaming it on a secular socity.

The "men in skirts" who lead the Catholic church really do not represent a majority view of their faithful on thse issues. While many Cathloics may not believe in abortion, they still believe in a woman's right to reproductive choice, Catholic lay ignore the church's teaching on birth control, and many nuns and priest support legal abortion.

In fact, the current dogma aganist abortion is a fairly new in church history was not offcially adopted until 1900. Before 1900 the they used Aristotle's theory of potentialism: Abortion after quickening (13 weeks) was consider a venial (not serious)sin and after quickening a mortl sin (serious sin), but never considered orcalled "murder" very recenlty.

The Catholic church continues to be a leader agansit the death

penalty, and ironically many who rant aganist abortion (which is NOT murder) support the death penalty.I do compliment the church teaching us to care about the larger community and do good for others in need. However the Cnurch could do a better for the poor by supporting birth control.

Anotherr political myth

Many beleive that the Hispanic Catholic voters will vote for anti abortion. Not true. In CA, the "parental consent intiative" on the ballot was defeated last time becasue young hispanic voters were targeted, educated and voted agnanist it.

Most Catholics are liberal, and most of us who left the church remain liberal, and we left the church because the "liberation theology" of Pope John the 23, was not carried out.

I come from a large Cathlic family, I know of no one who relies on the pope for thier pesonal moral decisions, most practicing Cathlics in doubt rely on thier local preists for advice. The adoration for the pope ane bishops come mostly from the "men in skirts" full of themselves.

My Poem

I wrote this poem a few years when all the cardinals went to Rome to discuss the abuse in the church:

Men in skirts called to Rome,

Traveling quickly from their home.

Confessing sins and kissing rings,

there is no penance from the king.

Instead the Pope give out more grace,

while the laity cries out "disgrace"!

Long we've waited for some change,

but boys in RED control the reins.

More dogma flowing out of Rome,

to be ignored by most at home.

Edicts have been heard before,

show the Patriarchs the door!

Lobby, push, and maybe pray,

that women rise to lead the way.

Amen.

self righteous bull from Derbig

"You wouldn't be so casual about abortion if, like me and the Misses, you had a cute little three-week-old fetus of your very own, like we do."

Derbig, How could you possbly even know it's cute, at this stage it would be a pinpoint in a sonogram.I am so tired of this kind of self righteous bull.

So you think liberals are casual about abortion, have never been pregnant or were ever over joyed at giving birth? How amusing. I have children and grand children. Everyone I know who is pro-choice has children. This past week I attended a pro-choice party where the director of the abortions right program giving the talk was 8 months pregnant. Yes, is happy about the pregnancy, and she and her husband planned the pregnancy.

Good luck, I hope your FETUS does turn out to be a cute baby.
