And in case Bernbart hasn't noticed, the inconsistencies between Bayh's rhetoric and his actions represent one of the chief foci of Glenn's attention.
—Lisa Rathert
Wrong.
You really need to go way back to my first posts before Glenn''s insult and rrheard's distractions because I was posting on the focus of Glenn''s article. It was rrheard drove the conversation another direction
The point I made: There was no reason for Gelnn to bring either Mrs. Bayh into the article or the speculation that Obama was considering Bayh as VP. It has no relation to the focus of Bayh inconsistencies on the deficit.
I disagree with Bayh that we cannot raise taxes. The "No TAX' concept promoted first by Reagan republicans is being carried forward by conservative Democrats.
There is plenty of waste to cut in other departments like Defense and National Security.
I guess running a successful business for over 30 years writing proposals to VPs as high tech companies does not count, but of coursem I also had secretarial services.
So let's get off of this as it distracts from the original argument which I was engaged in before you came in here.
When I said significant holdings, I was referring to the financial value of the stock and dividends, not the amount of controlling interest in the companies those holdings confer to her.
------
Have you looked at their value lately?
I'm sure she lost significant value last year.
____________
$335,000 of income a year can be pretty damn persuasive. I don't know your personal financial situation so perhaps that is not much money to you, but for most of us it is
------
In the real world experience mean influence. Resenting others ability to make money is insane.
________
The fact that they report this does not mean it is not significant, and has no bearing on their decisions, and reporting does not make it OK.
------
Their decisions? What decisions. She is NOT a Senator.
________
The reporting requirements are there so people can see where their elected representatives have financial stakes and judge their actions with those financial interests in mind.
------
Yes so we know.
__________
Mrs. Bayh does not have these BOD positions because of Evan.
Yes, actually, it is quite certain that she does.

________
I disagree.
for the typo police.

Yes and rrheard credits her husband with her success.
I also operate under the well-formed impression if not assumption that you aren't very bright and I'm wasting my time arguing with you.
—rrheard
Your operating under the wrong assumptions under the wrong assumptions and thanks go argue with someone else and leave me out of your conversations.
I am assuming you are a naive student who has never had a job. I could however be making the wrong assumptions, just like you.
It IS also a conflict of interest if a Senator or their spouse owns significant stock holdings in companies affected by legislation they write and vote on.
Mutuaba
-------
Truth is she does NOT hold significant holdings in these companies. Her share holdings give her a less than a 1% vote at share holders meetings.
It is pretty sad that women have switch their career focus AFTER their husband gets on a committee in the Senate. Mrs. Bayh does not have these BOD positions because of Evan. It is because of her experience in the field before he was a Seanator. All this information came from their reporting it, so they are hiding nothing.
Your assuming he bases his votes on his wife's compensation, never over 335,000 in any given year.
I'm wasting my time with you. You're too big an idiot to comprehend even the most basic concepts.
—rrheard
YO chose to waste you time on me. Go try your naive arguments on someone else.
Of course most of us live in the REAL world.
So you operate under the assumption that no legislator or lawyer can ever separate their personal life from the law they practice.
From 1989 to 1994, Ms. Bayh served as an Attorney in the Pharmaceutical Division of Eli Lilly and Company, where she handled federal regulatory issues for marketing and medical affairs.
—rrheard
Well gee isn't that the feild of law she was practicing at the time. Of course you just made my point. Very good reason why she would be asked to be on a BOD.
Do you know what Eli Lilly makes
?rrheard
Yes,I know they are a pharmaceutical company.
So does that mean no one is supposed to work for them? Or are you suggesting guilt by association.
She worked for them before Evan Bahy was a Senator.
Since I ma a very healthy person I'm not up on drugs like you.
