America today reflection of its people
[Read the article: Why has world opinion of the U.S. changed dramatically since 2000?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]We have no one to blame but ourselves.Let's not forget that the American voters elected George Bush to a second term.
No one stood up to the Bush administration when they invaded Iraq. There was no big public outcry. Americans were too busy feeling sorry for themselves and in shock after 9/11. Yet many more thousands around the world had died form terrorist’s
Acts long before 9/11.
I believe our country is in decline. When the rest of the world sees CNN & FOX that is the picture they are getting of us. Most of the media today is info entertainment not good balanced news.We have hundreds of cable TV outlets and very little substance or intelligent programming. TV started out as a wonderful media source today it has been dumb-ed down to the lowest common denominator. Same is true of TV news and most of the internet. Then there is talk radio replacing, Jazz, Opera, symphonies, and intelligent talk radio venues.Students in high school so-called " advanced Placement" are taking classes student took in "college prep" courses in 50s & 60s, and reading fewer classics. Their parents believe they are getting a superior education, when in actuality they are learning less than the previous college bond generations.
In Europe college bond students know 2-3 languages. In America we are obsessed with "English Only". We are the biggest polluters in the world and love to buy loads of STUFF (mostly on credit). parents are trunig ther little childreninto teh next big genration of consumers by buying them STUFF before they are old enough to ejnoy it.
Like, ah, Ya know. I think we are on our way out.

Civil rigths movement.
[Read the article: Barack Obama in New Orleans]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]ONe for the most important phrases from matin Luther King. W
"We look forward to the day,...... we are judged not by the color of our skin but by the content of our character."
In this day and age, we still taking about wheter someone running for president of the U.S. is black white, female, Asin, Morman Catholic, Jewish ect. etc, etc,. etc.? It is NOT important. It's either the racists or the PC crowed (insert race or ethenticity here)-Americans. I remember when we worked to get these things off of applications for work and college so women, blacks etc. could be judged on thier merits and character and not be discrimnated aganistt because of gender or race. Now everyone wants use it for one advantage or another. Granted discrimination still exists.

Feminism not just for women
[Read the article: Katie Roiphe's morning after]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Gloria Stienman, not ony said "A woman without a man is like fish without a bycycle". She also defined feminism as "Full equality for both women and men." Gloria was not without a man most of her life. Although she did not marry , she lived with the same man for decades.
It seems men have benefited more from the feminst movement of the 70s than women. Men are free now to help with parenting or stay home if they like, but women still bear most of the burden for the household and child care, even when they work outside the home.

Speaking of domestic terrorist
[Read the article: Inside the minds of killer doctors]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I always wonder why there was no outrage against the chirstian backed militia movement in the U.S after the Oklahoma bombing. The Christain Milita movemnt of the 80s & 90s was very connected to the pro-life terrorsit from Operatin Rescue and other pro-life terrorist organizatins. Of course U.S. officials have never recogonized the terrorism perpetrated by the pro-lifers aganist health clinics that perfrom abortions as part of thier health sevices. There was and is no wide spread publicity aobut how many cinics ahve b een bombed, burned to tgeh gorund by these so- clled pro-lifers.
Now the orgnazations and individuals who finnced the Christian orgnazatons that perputrated these violent acts have a a direct access to the White House.

Callous disregard for women.
[Read the article: Inside the minds of killer doctors]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]So some of you want to send the Islamist terroristst out to blow up "abortion clinics". You don't think it is as bad as 9/11. What a callous disregrd for women! Anyone who is harrasig women outside clinics in a terrorist. True clinic bombings are not as promenient as before, but that was not my point. Why wan'st there an outcry? The same applies to 9/11. Yes, almost 3000 people died in 9/11. However before 9/11 Worldwide more people of muslim faith died of islamic terrorism that people in the west. Was there an outcry here before 9/11 when middle easterm people died of terrorists acts? NO.
AS far as the "so-called" aboriotn clinics. These clinics are not exclusively for performing abortions. They are health clinics that provide health care for women... yearly check-ups, pregnancy testing, pre-natal care, paernting classes, referals to adoptions options etc.. So even those who are seekinng services other than aborition have to put up with the harassment by pro-life terrorists.
