Bush Is Insane
[Read the article: David Brooks' field trip to the White House]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Perhaps the N. Koreans are far wiser and more astute than previously imagined. THEY can recognize madness in a leader when they see it (Gee, I wonder why?). That being said, their decision to shut down their nuclear reactor could be considered explicit proof of their desire to avoid what they clearly believe to be inevitable: that George the Second, guided by the Almighty, has already decided to utterly destroy his "Axis of Evil" and will do ANYTHING to accomplish his ends. Shutting down their nuclear facility bought them some much needed time ... that is ... time enough to get beyond Januay 2009, George (God) willing! At least THEY have hedged their bets. Iran should be so lucky!

You've Got To Be Kidding Me!
[Read the article: The Weekly Standard's "9/11 Generation"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]As I read your article about the Weekly Standard's "9/11 Generation," my temperature started to rise and by the end, steam was coming out of my ears!! My generation, the one Dean Barnett manages to libel, SERVED in Vietnam to the tune of 58,000 killed and 350,000 wounded. Exactly how did those soldiers die? According to Barnett, NO ONE WENT TO VIETNAM! And then there's the little matter of those killed in Iraq. The number, I believe is somewhere around 3633 or about 6% of the total killed in Vietnam! And the wounded? That would be around 120,000 or 34% of the total of those wounded in Vietnam. And lest we forget, on May 4, 1970, four students were killed and 9 wounded during a protest against the war at Kent State University. Isn't it ironic that innocent students, exercising their right to free speech, put themselves at greater risk than Barnett, or Kristol, or Cheney, or Bush ever did!

Bipartisanship
[Read the article: Posting news]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I am really sick about all the talk of "bipartisanship" as if that and that alone will solve all of our problems! The truth is, there is no such thing as "bipartisanship," there are simply "polite" and "impolite" partisans. Personally, I prefer the convicted, passionate, intelligent, "impolite partisan" to the weasely, duplicitous, disingenous, "polite partisan" (are you listening Sen. WEASELman?).

Conservative Blindness
[Read the article: The conservative vision of America, by National Review]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]How hard is it going to be in January of 2009 for these same "conservatives" to roll back the eavesdropping powers of the executive branch when a Democratic president is sworn in? Given that liklihood, I would say about 2 weeks time after the congress convenes. Anybody want the "over-under" on my prognostication?

Ron Paul and the Constitution
[Read the article: The Ron Paul phenomenon]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Living out here in the "sticks," I can tell you that a whole LOT of people, Republican, Democrat, and Independent, are absolutely fed up with George Bush's trashing of our Constitution. Some of us "older folks" actually had civics classes in high school and remember what the Constitution and the Bill of Rights actually say. Unfortunately, we feel like our voices are being muted by big-money lobbyists and the "Village People" of Washington, D.C. My hope and prayer is that Ron Paul will continue to raise Constitutional issues and remind ALL of us (whether we agree with him or not) of the document from which we derive ALL of our rights. I won't be voting for Paul, but GOD BLESS HIM for standing on principle and speaking the truth about our country and where we are headed if we don't change.

Willard's Religion
[Read the article: This is not Romney's Kennedy moment]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]What Romney has done by speaking about his faith is open the door for anyone to ask probing questions about the actual tenets of the Mormon religion and I, for one, hope the the "unbiased press" and others will do just that. I would rather vote for someone who claimed to have seen a UFO than vote for a man who believes in "magic underwear," or that Joseph Smith found golden plates hidden in a buried box protected by an angel named Moroni! Dennis Kucinich seems far more rational AND believable than Willard Romney! The Bush-backing religious right ought to be asking the Mittster whether or not he believes the Book of Mormon is "another testament of Jesus Christ" and if he does, does he think that Jesus Christ appeared to the Indians in North America? Don't get me wrong: he has a right, as an American, to believe whatever he wants but I, as an American, have an equal right to know just how crazy his beliefs are before I choose to vote to make him the so-called "leader of the free world!" And just how "free" will we be if he actually believes that "freedom requires religion?"

Harry Reid's Shame
[Read the article: Reid and company target the true enemy: "Dodd and his allies"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"I'm mad a hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore!!" If anyone's read Chris Matthew's book, "Life's a Campaign" or watched John Stewart's evisceration of its premise, this maneuver by Reid and Co. is clear evidence of Village thinking: There is no such thing as law, sincerity, or principle - just the accumulation of power and the wielding of the same. With this kind of "leadership," we're screwed! Dodd for Majority Leader!

Plan B?
[Read the article: With Bhutto gone, does Bush have a Plan B?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Given Bush's reputed intellectual prowess (or lack thereof), he would seem incapable of coming up with a Plan B; more like a Plan D- or a Plan F. The man is an incompetent, who surrounds himself with incompetents, seeks advice ONLY from incompetents, and prays to his gut that everything will work out well (i.e., $$$$$) for his cronies and contributors. I started out giving this buffoon the benefit of the doubt, but no more. Bush is X-Rated; he's the biggest BOOB on my boob-tube!
