With all respect
[Read the article: Correction]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Debbie Nathan most certainly is a respected reporter, who during the 80's did much to expose the public hysteria regarding "Satanic Ritual Abuse" and "Recovered Memory Syndrome." And in doing this, she fought against a tide of public gullibility and abusive psychological practices. And clearly she knows very well the players and organizations who are once again using this issue for purposes which are less benign than "helping children."
In removing the article, Salon is doing a disservice to their readers, while allowing "readers" to mistake her position, as well as what she actually said.
There is no way to go back restate for the record what she did say.
I find this whole episode chilling, and harmful to Salon, its readers, Ms. Nathan, and her point of view, which in the past has been proved valid, even as those with their own agenda are able to post anything they please about her, and the article which no longer can be referenced.

When people come here
[Read the article: Correction]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]and make glib accusations regarding fact checking, while making unwarranted personal attacks on the writer, while they can't be bothered to make specific complaints, one can assume they have an agenda.
And that agenda has nothing to do with the truth.
And they can say anything they wish about the missing article, without being fact checked themselves.
These cowardly attacks by people who aren't subscribers, who don't leave their names, should alert people who care about where our country is headed with regard the chilling of public discussions.
That Debbie Nathan is not here to defend herself against these vicious and fact-free attacks makes one wonder if these letters were choreographed, and do not reflect the sentiments of legitimate readers.
Salon needs to repost the article and allow Nathan to respond to her critics.

Yeah, right...Harris has a shot....
[Read the article: No recount necessary]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]as the campaign prize nutcake Alan Keyes proved when he defeated Obama.
But it is interesting to see how cowed and demoralized Eyore democrats rub their hands in worry when they can't be actually bothered to follow this race, have no clue of how Harris has dropped in the polls...and ignoring the fact that her entire campaign is now self fianced. Harris only won because she was the one who actually had the dough to run a campaign.

Katie and "Joe" sitting in a tree..
[Read the article: Couric to Bush: "I'm really grateful. Thank you. Thank you"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Hooray for Couric! Great Interview, great journalist.
And I bet you wrote that with a straight face.

Ed Murrow....
[Read the article: Couric to Bush: "I'm really grateful. Thank you. Thank you"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]continues his eternal rolling over in his grave.

Joe, my little flower
[Read the article: Keith Olbermann on what Bush has wrought]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The key difference between us and you...and your ilk...
is that not in the depths of your bereft imagination can you imagine there are people who actually believe what they say, are truly passionate about their love of country, have a vision of how truly great this country could be....and we don't we don't have a venal lust for power, money, and dishonesty on which we project on our political enemies.
We don't see this struggle as a matter of winning and losing, and getting even with people we are envious of....
The struggle is for the soul of America...and for a world where our children don't have to live in fear and where improving our lot isn't just for those born into the right race, sex or class,...and where the suffering of others isn't cause for celebration on the part of bitter little men who can't get no respect....in the name of a 100 year Republican realignment.
The history of the Bush administration has been told in squandered opportunities, blatant incompetence, the inability to effectively governing, pandering to ignorance, and using fear to manipulate people.
But it is the venality and wastefulness which reveals how little you...and by extension, the people you claim to admire, have seem to understand what conservative values means. It doesn't mean throwing money down rat holes, overt cronyism...and thinking that principle is something you hawk to the suckers.
You don't have a clue what we are really like, because you assume that everyone is like you.
That is what sociopaths think.

Jewness???!! Jewness???
[Read the article: George Allen and the "aspersion" of Judaism]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]>but I think it is arrogant to attribute the audience's boos to the accusation of Jewness and not the impropriety and irrelevance of the question at a debate.
Honey, when you built your reputation as a bigot with good ol' boy pretentions and a love of a racist heritage, doesn't one's actual background, when pandering to the lowest bottomfeeders in your state become absolutely relevant?
And what, btw is JEWNESS?

Not only were Allen's grandparents Jews
[Read the article: George Allen and the "aspersion" of Judaism]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]but his mother was Jewish...
which means, according the Israeli Law of Return, little Georgie could sign up for Israeli citizenship...because the Jewish religion passes through the mother's side.
In otherwords, Allen was born Jewish.
And why would he be ashamed of that?

techieguru...
[Read the article: Teammates: Allen used "N-word" in college]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]For crying out loud...
if Allen were, say, a black gang banger in high school and college, would you be suggesting that people should get over it...people change, and that antisocial behavior is something they outgrow?
Right. Didn't think so.
