A NEW CHINA SYNDROME IS ON THE HORIZON
Give the devil its due: The People’s Republic of China put on one helluva show at the opening of the 2008 Summer Olympics: http://apnews.myway.com/article/20080809/D92EDVD8J.html
There’s far too much to detail so the reader is directed to the above link as well as to this for spectacular photos: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1042925/China-lifts-curtain-20billion-Olympics-extravaganza.html, and this for the video, which also includes a more sobering video on the Russian invasion of the sovereign state of Georgia and other video reminders about the true nature of the Chicoms: http://www.reuters.com/news/video?videoId=88624&feedType=VideoRSS&feedName=TopNews&rpc=23&videoChannel=1&sp=true
When the dust settles in Beijing, literally and figuratively, when the cars return to its streets, when the Chinese again rev up their pollution-spewing industries, when dissidents are (maybe) released from their prisons, the PRC will bask in its Olympic glories–for a day or so. Then it will resume its quest to become the preeminent nation on the planet, repress Tibet and all other dissidents, take aim at Taiwan, the ROC, and continue its “One child policy” of fostering millions of abortions.
Meanwhile, the United States continues its gradual decline into history’s waste bin.
Enjoy the Beijing Extravaganza for the next week or so until reality returns.
You're right, Pablo. The subject is morbid. Of more relevance is the question of why you chose to write about it.
With all the problems facing America--which is MY priority--why on God's green Earth would you worry about whether we should become worm food or not?
Methinks Pablo needs a wake-up call!
The bewilderment libs have as to why Obama isn't "crushing McCain" would be amusing if it weren't so telling about the liberal mindset.
Much like Pauline Kael's shock at Nixon's landslide in 1972 when absolutely no one she knew voted for him, today's libs still don't understand the American people. http://sisu.typepad.com/sisu/2004/06/and_at_the_afor_5.html
A word of advice, libbies: You don't have even the slightest understanding of what America is all about. What it isn't about is collectivism and all things un-American that Obama represents.
Obama is the antithesis of American values. He may win in November, though, thereby proving that you can indeed fool a majority of the people once in a great while.
As for comparing him to Reagan, that's as preposterous as comparing him to JFK. They were both patriots. Obama isn't.
Chicago Todd?
Are you serious? The media are obsessed with Obama and the public is finally discovering who and what he is!
A better ploy for the leftist media would be to ignore him. Then, perhaps, by November 4th an insufficient number of Americans would realize what a farce he is and not understand fully his relationships with Ayers, Rezko, Wright, et al.
An ignorant electorate is Obama's best bet!
Jennifer, I'm confused.
The Chinese certainly DO need some joy in their lives but isn't it customary for liberals to root for anyone, any nation, any opponent other than Americans?
Stuff the angst and fess up!
You gays no doubt thought--or wished-- that Ozzie was a closet gay and that Harriet was bi and that Lucy was in love with her neighbor and that Ricky had a thing for William Frawley! :)
Try as you will, gayboys, you can't make IT normal! :(
Since Obama had to call on Spurious George Clooney to help with his image, I'm betting that McCain is winning. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1043164/How-Clooney-offers-good-friend-Obama-advice-issues-body-language-Iraq.html
Weakness, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder.
If indeed McCain makes a pledge to be a one-term president, he will have largely undercut the only issue that Dems are using against him, the age issue, and should he win in November he will have four years to appoint federal judges and SCOTUS justices and decisively win the Iraq war.
Sounds like a plan to me!!
Amanda, thanks bunches for clearing that up for me. McCain is an internet dunce! Go figure.
Maybe those years as a resident of the Hanoi Hilton crippled his capacity to surf the web.
Well, I'm sure going to vote for Net-savvy Obama now. How could I possibly vote for a guy who served and loves his country when I can vote for a guy who would give it away BUT who knows how to surf the net?
Tech know-how is a requisite for the presidency of the United States!
DUNCE!
I always wondered about Garrison.
Does he have AIDS yet?
Lefties, you would have issues with wet dreams!
I hear GWB also causes tsunamis, tornados, and even Hillary's chitty hairdo and Obama's ears!
Such anti-American twits! How do you sleep at night?
Anna, Anna, Anna!
So, Iraqi women bemoan that they missed a few years of college and weddings are now over by 9 PM?
I wonder if they also miss Saddam's rape rooms, beheadings and gassings?
And what about those two devil-may-care sons of his, Uday and Qusay? Those fun-lovers were well known for their human shredders, aka, wood chippers with which they demonstrated why death was preferable to torture. On slow days, they would have the victim lowered into the shredder feet first so they could enjoy their slow death. When the boys had pressing engagements, they'd order quickies, head-first executions.
And speaking of weddings, do Iraqi women miss that other hobby of the boys, you know, weddings? Not that they attended those weddings, but if they saw a bride they fancied, they were wont to save the groom the task of bedding a virgin bride by whisking the young thang away and obviating the sometimes messy chore of being her Numero Uno.
I'm sure the grooms were appreciative, regardless of the prize that is virginity, especially in the Mid East.
Ms. Badhken should be reminded that when writing revisionist history certain very relevant details should never be ignored. Otherwise, she's writing base lies and distortions.
