Were You're Ears Open, Joan?
[Read the article: Moving beyond Obama and race]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It never ceases to amaze me how white Americans will do anything they can to stop an African American from succeeding. I find it more than a little suspicious that all of this Wright business is surfacing only now. Why didn't anyone hear about these inflammatory sermons months ago when Hillary won New Hampshire? And why is no one holding Hillary Clinton responsible for the monstrous comments Ferraro made about Obama, yet every media outlet wants to crucify Obama over his association with Wright. For the last time Joan, THOSE COMMENTS WERE NOT OBAMA'S AND THEY DO NOT REFLECT HIM OR HIS CAMPAIGN! He vehemently denounced them and that's that. I really don't know what more you people want him to do.
Also, I have so say I'm very disappointed with your journalism, Joan. Apparently you and other like you--primarily Republicans and whites who are desperate for some reason to destroy Obama--didn't hear a word he uttered in his speech earlier this week. He didn't "through his grandmother under the bus" as you claim; he used her as an analogy. I would think an educated journalist would comprehend such rhetoric, yet you disappoint me once again. I'm so over you and all of these spastic Clinton supporters. You're losing--deal with it and move on!

Makes Perfect Sense
[Read the article: "Clinton will not be able to win the nomination"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I'm glad to see others are finally seeing reason. The best thing Clinton can do is bow out gracefully, if only to preserve the Democratic party. Perhaps Obama could make her a veep? Or Secretary of State?
Obama 08!

Enough, Hills
[Read the article: Nagourney: "At least one scenario where Clinton could win"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]How ironic that the one thing people seem to admire most about Clinton--her tenacity--could potentially be the undoing of the Democratic party. With so much stacked against her and Obama's nomination almost certain, she really should concede. The public would have more respect for her and she would be known as the candidate who was noble enough to put the good of the party before her own mad ambitions. As ugly as things are now--and as exasperated all Democrats are by this situation--both campaigns will no doubt become more vicious as the weeks progress. I don't think anyone wants to endure that.

Do These People Understand English?
[Read the article: New Michigan delegate compromise offered]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]What part of "you broke the rules" don't Michigan and Florida understand? Stop trying to seat these delegates and learn to live with your mistakes you idiots!

Shrews of a feather. . .
[Read the article: A new low in Clinton bashing]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Senator Clinton's repeated RFK gaffes are anything but accidental and anyone with connected brain cells knows the type of ugly inference she made, desperate in its origin and ruinous in its result. Joan, you and all of Clinton's acolytes need to inhale oxygen and come back to Earth. I saw your shrill debate on Hardball today, and I am more convinced than ever that you, like Clinton, her husband, her supporters and her entire campaign, have fallen down the rabbit hole. How can you support this candidate when she consistently attempts to alter the rules of the nomination process to suit her own gain? Stop being sore losers. Read this and grow big.

PAY UP
[Read the article: Why not let Clinton keep the four Michigan delegates?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]How saddening that our society as deteriorated to a level where individuals feel they should not be punished for their transgressions. MICHIGAN BROKE THE RULES! Why should both Michigan and Clinton be rewarded for breaking bad?

No, Mr. Keillor, you're the problem
[Read the article: He's a young black guy, and that's a problem for some folks]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]As an African American man, articles like this enrage me. The implications here are: (1) black men should be feared and judged my racist stereotypes established by white patriarchy, and (2) racism, no matter how slight, is acceptable, provided it is aimed at blacks and not whites. After over a century of struggling for civil rights and equality, why do we still let white people get away with their biases? Yes, Obama is black; no, his is not a professional athlete, a rapper, or a comedian; no, he is not a rapist, murder, or drug dealer. He is a brilliant, charismatic, authoritative politican who will very likely be the next president of the United States. The year is 2008 not 1938. Stick your racism where the sun doesn't shine and shut the f**k up!

More Sour Grapes
[Read the article: Tin-eared at MSNBC]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Sorry, but his sounds like more of Joanie's bad loser griping. Olbermann is to be commended; he's one of the few journalists who still fights the good fight and says what he damn well pleases. Conservative pundits are allowed to get away with anything, so why can't we outraged liberals have a similar voice? As for sexism during the now fossilized Clinton campaign, what Olbermann did was highlight the senator's many faults and failures, which ulimately led to the demise of her campaign. Joanie and others of her ilk need to get over their selfish feelings of discrimination and disenfranchisement once and for all and fall in line. Their energy could be better served elsewhere.

Duh! Obama's a Politician
[Read the article: Keith Olbermann: Then and now]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Hold the phone! When terrorism is a threat to our security we can't completely tie the government's hands any more than we should strip citizens of their civil rights. Obama is a politician; he can't please everyone. As for Olbermann, I still love the guy and people are allowed to change their minds when they learn more about a subject. I think there's a marked difference between the way Bush applies FISA and they way Obama will as president. In the end I think all of this outrage has little to do with Olbermann and Obama but more to do with shyster lawyers who want to be able to sue the pants off phone companies who can't do it under FISA. Too bad, so sad.
