Original article: Biggest "Idol" upset ever

Idol still gets to sign Lambert

"It's ok because Adam's career is now wide open. No limiting, nasty Idol contract for him. He can get a contract, and he will get a contract, with anyone he wants."

Actually this is not true. American idol producers have first right of refusal to Adam Lambert, so Adam has to record with them unless they pass on him. Considering how much they have promoted him (and I think this is as big a reason for Adam Lambert losing as the conservative voting) there's no way he will not get signed by an Idol-affiliated label

I think Kris Allen is great. I thought he needed the win to have a career more than Adam did, but now it seems with all the backlash from media and fans, I guess Kris was screwed either way.

Nice try

But John Ashcroft set the bar so high with "Let the Eagle Soar" that it'll be hard for anybody to top that effort.

One more thing

If I'm claustrophobic and prone to panic attacks in very confined spaces, should I have to be burdened to "share"? Is my medical condition not as valid as somebody who's morbidly obese?

Where do you draw the line?

Ideally we SHOULD have bigger seats but that's not happening in the near future.

Fairness both ways

Losing weight AIN'T easy. Life gets in the way, jobs get in the way. If you're tired and stressed out it's just easier not to try and lose weight. I wish people would be more compassionate and not assume the answer to this issue is so binary. I'm fortunate enough that I managed to lose 60+ lbs. but it came at a lot of sacrifice (both in time and financially). Not everybody has the same means.

"Fairness is for kindergartners, and if your parents had raised you right you wouldn't be complaining about what's unfair."

Don't expect much sympathy if you're unwilling to consider the other side. I personally think it's uncomfortable to have somebody encroaching on my space in an already uncomfortable position. Doesn't make me a terrible person. I don't whine about it and I don't complain. Why make the whole thing even MORE uncomfortable? But a compromise surely can be found that can satisfy all angles.

Missing the point

" Juno's decision was underscored not by any liberal politics but a simple reverence for life! It's OK to feel that way! I loved your declaration, Camille, that "being for abortion" does not a morally pure person make."

Juno made her choice. Sarah Palin did as well. Good for them! My problem with Sarah Palin is that her choice is the only choice to be made regardless of background and circumstance.

Almost forgot

The pious whining from conservatives about how poor widdle Sarah Palin is being torn to shreds is really rich considering all the crap that's been coming from the conservative side for the last several years. Go cry to Karl Rove and co.

Holy smokes

People asking why Salon keeps publishing Paglia's latest narcissistic claptrap should only look at the insane volume of letters she gets. Gotta hand it to her, even if she's not making a lick of sense, especially on her Obama ruminations.

Her Palin gal-crush is pretty humorous if completely misguided. The bebop jazz comparison to Palin's endless stream of "umms" and "aaahs" is clueless.

Ah, the good ole "I vote for whoever I want to have a beer with" chestnut

"For each of them, you've got a guy who you can't picture at a college football game or a barbecue."

Now I don't deny that this actually matters to some folks but honestly, the kind of mental defectives that show up to my school's football games is nobody I'd want running a country. This line of thinking slays me.

I thought after the train wreck that was the Bush II presidency, people would try to put less importance to this nonsense. Guess not.

Can we just PLEASE stop the nonsense?

Now granted from most of the letters I've read the feedback has been great. Why are there still some Clinton folks trying to undermine Obama's candidacy? We have to look at the greater picture here...your foolish hatred is not helping.

Conversely, why are some of these Obama fans still so bitter? Did you want Hillary to bow down and kiss his feet? Get over yourselves and stop acting like d1cks.

Personally I thought Hillary was fantastic. Bill has a tough act to follow.

Still voting for Obama

Let me start out with stating the obvious, so that trolls can't bring out that trite "Go ahead and vote for McCain then!" nonsense.

Olbermann didn't necessarily fawn over the FISA bill now that Obama is seemingly for it but the 180 he did, from calling the FISA supporters fascist, to this wishy-washy position, is pretty ridiculous. But I suppose ratings are ratings so...whatever.

Still holding out for hope that Obama will see the light on this.

Time to be pragmatic

While this situation *seemingly* goes against previous statements by Obama, it's time to be realistic. Obama is a politician trying to win an election and decisions like this are part of the process. I guess in my book I never thought of Obama as any kind of savior or messiah. He's just a different option and an infinitely better option than McCain aka Dubya II: Electric Bugaboo.
