I propose...

Patrick Fitzgerald for Attorney General.

Original article: The way forward?

Signing Statements

I bet at this point, Bush is rightfully afraid that such a flagrant use of a signing statement to go against Congress and popular sentiment, would trigger a Constitutional challenge to the validity of all his signing statements.

Original article: Not exactly Stephen Colbert

Was it more insulting...

...than being called Turd Blossom daily by the Commander-in-Chief?

Karl Rove deserves to be insulted repeatedly.

Original article: Setting the bar low

Not breaking any laws...

would be raising the bar for this administration.

If not now, when?

If we can't impeach Bush (and Cheney) now for all their crimes, it sets a dangerously high bar for removing any future criminal president. Without impeaching Bush now, would we be able to impeach the next president who only lies to start a war but doesn't stack the US Attorneys? What if he only hires incompetent cronies but doesn't use unconstitutional signing statements - could we impeach then? Do we want a country where you would have to be a worse president than Bush to actually be held accountable?

Original article: Unsynchronized spinning

Six long years

of this administration has made me extremely untrusting of anything they say. This "Gang of 11" just seems to be buying Bush more time until September. Sounds like more Rovian spin to me.

Original article: More questions for Gonzales

The Real Republican Agenda..

must be to screw everything up so royally that the next president has to spend all of his/her time fixing the damage. After dealing with a disastrous war in Iraq, a lousy environmental policy, a corrupt Justice Department, horrible foreign relations and zero respect for the White House, the next president will be lucky to get anything done.

What about Ashcroft?

Has anyone interviewed Ashcroft (or his wife) about this yet? I'd be curious to hear his and her take on this.

Original article: Goodling's mea culpa

Peter M.

To be fair to poor Monica, she only went to Regent University, not a real law school.

Original article: Quote of the day

On behalf of Southerners

Dubya is a Connecticut cowboy. A Yankee. A carpetbagger raised in the finest schools. All hat, no cattle.

His Dumb Hick Act is just that - an act.

The hick part, I mean. The dumb part is genuine. Possibly inbred.

How does it go again?

Something about rats and a sinking ship...

Fishbone et al

I never miss a chance to see Fishbone live. I've seen them about 30 times and they never disappoint.

Other faves: the Hold Steady, Prince, Elvis Costello, eels, They Might Be Giants.

Not to pile on, but I think you mean Emily Litella.
