You state in your letter that "PETA raised holy hell over it and have the proven ability to turn this into a media spectacle" while at the same time stating that "Rich people eat veil, where a baby calf is tied up and not allowed to move an inch until it dies. They also consume foie gras, where a goose is tied up and fed until its liver explodes.". I wonder which organization gave you that information? (Veal is almost never produced in the fashion you describe in North America and Fois Gras NEVER is, there are two Fois Gras producers in North America, both produce ONLY free range product.)

All these comments that the letter must be fake and that she shouldn't be with him and that no one who reads Salon would date someone missing their front teeth are much more disgusting than any dental hygiene problem.

I am a regular Salon reader, so is my wife, when I met her I was missing several teeth (even some front ones, oh dear god no!) yet she saw past that, realized that sometimes people have problems and phobias and all sorts of messy stuff screwing up their lives, and loved me anyway.

It's 5 years later now and I have a pearly smile and a loving wife who makes me happy (and vice versa) everyday. I shudder to think of the judgements the people writing these comments must make everyday about their fellow human beings, shame!

Hey tomreedtoon, what the hell are you smoking? Mexican children are treated like stray animals? Is that seriously what you are trying to say? If so what a stunningly racist thought. I've spent a lot of time in Mexico and would echo pretty much all of micki777's comments. After spending a month a hotel in Mexico recently it was apparent time after time that ALL the screaming, swearing, disrespectful children were the Americans, the Mexican families were pretty much exactly as micki777 described and were a pleasure to be around.

Most of these letter writers are missing the point completely, the Smart is not a 1-1 replacement for your current car, it is something else entirely and for many people it is a second/alternate use vehicle, often replacing a larger second car.

Here is Vancouver there are literally thousands and thousands of Smart cars and more than anything else the reason is PARKING PARKING PARKING, I often leave my Mazda3 at home and take the bus downtown to avoid the parking hell, Smart cars don't have that problem.

Just a warning to any non-Canadians out there that The Newsroom was NOT funny, ever.
