I know women like this.....

....and it always amazes me how they burn through potential husbands/mates/partners. Some faster than others. But one way or another, they find something wrong in their quest for the perfect mate. Just the fact that she's dated 'one to two dozen men' says it all.

Sometimes it's justified, but many times, it's her own hangups. If it wasn't this guy's "lack" of ambition, then it would be something else. It would be the fact that he's not close to his family or too close to his family or something. You can hear these girls lament 'why am I single?' time and time again.

And that's where this writer is headed, soon she'll be swamped in her career and fretting over whether it is too late to start a family and wondering why she let so many things go...enjoying her younger days, a mate who was almost perfect, etc. It is quite possible to be driven and ambitious and to have a part of your life that doesn't involve drive and ambition.

Wait around for Mr. Right if you want, I look forward to seeing your ad on the side bar in Salon personals.

Original article: ESPN's dishonest tap-dance

This isn't anything new

If you're unfortunate enough to only have been able to get you international soccer coverage through ESPN, you know that they never have guys live at the game. They've gotten better about making it seem as if they're there, but it's long been known that the guys are in a studio, and not in Europe or wherever....I always chalked it up to FIFA only providing one video feed like F1 does, but who knows....in any event, it wasn't a surprise that ESPN got caught with their pants down. Makes me long for SBS in Australia......

If only...

we weren't so afraid of Al-Jazeera....

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=551287&&cc=5901

but at least the game will be replayed in it's entirety and at a decent hour.....

Original article: Show the games live

At first I had reservations....

....about watching the live feed on my computer....I prefer to watch tv on the um...tv....but the live feeds, without commentary and without commercial, but sounds of cheering is great.....it makes me just a little less mad that they aren't showing anything live out here in L.A....not even on Telemundo....which even thought the listing is telling me the event I'm watching (USA women v. Japan in soccer) is live, ESPN and other news outlets say otherwise. Unfortunately, NBC being the sole broadcaster in the U.S. is a bit like flying.....take it or leave it....and as much as I'd like to boycott, I like the Olympics even more.

I thought MSNBC....

....had cornered the market on black conservative commentators and republican strategists.....sometimes they appear two at a time bashing Obama.....maybe that will be the new trend if Obama wins.....that way they can criticize (right or wrong) and not be accused of being racist.....

How odd....

...that the man ran a stellar campaign, slayed two big name dragons and now he's being second guessed before he's even taken the oath of office. Seems like a lot of people on the left are mad that they didn't snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Brilliant...

...way to crown a champion....it makes more sense than the Wizard of Oz type theatrics that the BCS computer system is....pay not attention to the man behind the curtain!

Congrats to the Green Wave..........

Original article: Ask the pilot

Sorry but...

..go arounds (or fly arounds or whatever they're called) suck. I was on a NWA Flight to LAX flying through Minneapolis and we had one because apparently a plane on the ground was getting too close to the runway or hadn't cleared fast enough so we had to pull back up. This happened the same week of that crash in São Paulo so that was fresh on the mind. But to hear the plane (seemingly) struggle to regain speed and altitude was not comforting...even if it's a routine procedure and everything ended up fine. Now every time I fly, when we're about to land I'm hoping that we land the first time and not have to go through that again.
