Still, I'll try.
The title of the article uses a writing technique known as “irony”. It involves saying something known to be untrue and/or ridiculous, in order to to make a joke and/or a point. You may have trouble dealing with it, since it also requires the concepts of complexity and nuance (and, for that matter, a sense of humor) Alas, I fear this point will be lost on you, since (based on your posts here and your blog) you’re so fucking stupid you couldn’t pour piss out of a boot if the instructions were printed on the sole (that’s a slightly ironic visual metaphor, BTW). Run along now, and go play in the freeway or something…
Betzarini/lpwhitney...
“republicans…forced to resign”??? Maybe I missed the resignation of Vitter, Craig, Gingrich, and Sanford. And Elliot Spitzer and Jim McGrevey didn’t REALLY resign- it was just a liberal media trick! And the Clinton impeachment? Jsut special effects...
See my earlier post to SoberInput re: Boot, pouring piss out of…
dubbed Ms. Perino, and I quote:
"A lying sack of cute"
(Which is not to say I wouldn't do her, and I HATE politics!)
Two reactions to your post at 4:56 PM:
#1- dead nuts on.
#2 – have you ever noticed that when you make a substantive, non-snarky post, that you DON’T double-post it? Interesting…
I'm just too tired and sad to give this post the depth it deserves. So I'll make it simple.
Fuck. You.
RIP, Uncle Walter.
apologies if someone already pointed this out, but I am short of time to read all the posts so far...
A possible ray of sunshine even if the absurdly narrow Holder investigations are all we (initially) get...
If I were a CIA operative who had been given both the "approved" torture guidelines AND orders to exceed them, I for damn sure would keep some kind of CMA evidence in case of this very scenario. These guys may be sociopaths, but that doesn't automatically make them stupid. And one thing sociopaths DON'T do is "take one for the team"- if an operative is looking at significant prison time and he/she has a bigger fish to trade...
One can hope, at least.
Your incisive, cut through the bullshit comments carry you to victory again! Admit it, you sly dog- you’re negotiating to be the ghost writer for Miss California’s soon-to-be-given-away-by-the-pallet book by Regnery Publishing, aren’t you! I'm telling you as a friend-don’t jump at the first offer- hold out for at least touching the sides of the implants…
Generally, I respect that you and Salon have a tradition of open discourse, and try to avoid banning posters. That said, I'll buy you the beverage of your choice if you'll block terkoy and unlovely truth. Their postings are pointless, muck-stirring crap, to put it bluntly. They post so much of this crap that it slows down my ability to get through the postings (and I am a busy professional who has to steal time to read Salon). Well, so is elephantman, but he is at least half-amusing about it (at times).
Anybody agree?
Seriously, I'm really interested in knowing what happens in your brain when you tell yourself: "Let me go raise this point again and pretend that he never answered." What does your brain tell you that you're accomplishing with that behavior?

It pains me to call a lawyer out on this, Glenn,but-
ASSUMING FACTS NOT IN EVIDENCE!
(Namely, that Nobby HAS a brain). Personally, I vote for a pile of stale Cheeto powder :-)
and Glenn Beck has a bigger audience than Bill Moyers! Which proves Glenn is "right-er", correct? No, it proves that there a a lot more stupid people than intelligent ones (its called the area under tthe curve, if you've studied calculus or statistics).
As has been put so well here already, you start with the premise that SP is some kind of genius, then cherry pick reality to support your premise. When proven factually wrong, you say "I still believe the POINT she was trying to make..." As the saying goes, you wouldn't know the truth if it banged you all night!
BTW, give up the fantasy- SP is just NOT that into you...
Your scenario about the dying man admitted with a failing heart, "in a moment of lucidity" signing an advanced directive, is, like 99% of what you post here, complete and utter strawman bullshit.
End-of-life plnning, under all relevant laws and professional practices, MUST be done IN ADVANCE. That is the main reason for the EXCELLENT idea of reimbursing doctors for discussing it with their patients in the course of a normal office visit. There is a common fantasy that "I'lll know when I'm starting to lose it, and make my decisions then". In reality, at that point the person is NOT capable of making these decisions, and by law can NOT do do. Hence, doctors must default to aggressive, expensive, and pointless care (or the family, at a moment of enormous stress, must decide to "pull the plug" WITHOUT knowing the person's wishes).
Your ability to twist the facts here rivals your ability to see SP's turds as pearls of wisdom...
end of life PLANNING...
and R2 is still brain-dead...
