  • Ignorant Arrogance

[Read the article: Our new friend is a racist -- should we dump him?]

I live my life as a meritocracy..deeming all people stupid arseholes until proven otherwise ;) All people, all the myriad groups of people, have some folks who sadly sustain stereotypes. Yet more often there is a larger contingent striving for something better. Most truly intelligent people know that one can not judge the true character of an individual by the color of their skin or whatever else the world considers a limiting characteristic this minute. Id be wary of someone who is clearly ignorant and arrogant enough to think this way about race mostly because its only a matter of time before you see how he finds fault in so many other people for a host of other just as ignorant reasons. Wanna bet what he really thinks about women? Poor people? Religious groups he doesn't agree with/understand? The list is never ending with people who need to compensate their own inadequacy by reducing others. Unless of course they feel he is a "project" to help I would say just move on, life is to short.

  • Then he will abolish teaching evolution too?

I mean really now don't enough Americans understand what a creepy dude this is? The list of wackiness is far too long to go in to here. Huckabee President of the United States of America??? The empire will fall fast. Theocracy anyone? Duh...and an obviously ever growing Idiocracy.

  • Parenting by example...

[Read the article: Our house is so messy my husband's threatening to leave]

As a young single parent living in a small apartment I found it difficult to keep a clean home as well. Yet as I matured I realized that parenting is by example and its not just what you don't do in front of your kids (Such as drinking, smoking, drugs etc) but also what you DO do (I said do do...he he). Setting goals and accomplishing them sets a great example for your kids. Taking care of yourself and your surrounding sets a great example for your kids. Acting like an adult and prioritizing your time and responsibilities as well as giving yourself plenty of time to pursue the things in life that give you pleasure and relaxation. Sitting around making excuses for why you cant amounts to...well acting like a damned teenager. I now take a half hour of each day to power clean the house. Ok, sometimes it takes a whole hour and yeah when I really want to get it super clean it can take all damned day. I make it as pleasant as possible. I turn up the volume on the stereo and play my favorite music. I actually end up enjoying the time I spend cleaning and in the end I get a huge bonus. The bonus is that not only is the house clean and tidy so I (ME ME ME ME ME, Yeah ME!) can enjoy it (gee imagine that) but also when my partner returns from a long day at work he enjoys it too. He keeps up his end of the house responsibilities in many ways. We are a team...its OUR home. One does not have to be a neat freak to be healthily tidy. I can now rest comfortably that if I have guests over at the last minute my home is presentable. Ill bet 'Not a Neat Freak's kids will be mortified to have friends over later if not already. She and her husband can make excuses all day about their behavior but in the end they are indeed suffering from bigger issues if this easily cured problem is causing this much angst. They need to grow up and stop being whiny pigs. If not for sake of their marriage then for the sake of their children. In a fewer words...grow up.

  • Its more complicated.....

[Read the article: The economics of prostitution]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

There is an ever growing number of thoughtful 'adult service providers' that are running their own businesses. Safe, sane and truly fun 'talent' of all shapes, sizes, colors and ages can do well with a broader more open minded clientèle. Making about $50 an hour average....plus trips, dining out and shopping. Ideas about the 'trade' are changing and helping to remove the taboo structure of prostitution. Maybe not 'sex surrogates' (although really come on, thats legal eh? Hilarious) but surely not just ho's. Imagine the ingenuity of Nancy Botwin but selling sex instead. It is happening. Sadly too the dark side is still growing and only getting darker. People selling people into the sex trade and slavery? Imagine if it was just legal. Then again maybe there will always be a market for oppressed people to abuse sexually for money. There are really so many stories and layers going on in this world that the socio economic impact cant be measured accurately. Hey government guys...imagine the Federal Bureau of the Sex Industry. Quality control investigations would be a bitch huh? LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Perhaps they want it this way

Judging from the absolute poop pool the GOP delivered for candidacy they must want the Dems to take over. To clean up the mess or to fall on their faces or both, who knows. Yet, it is clear they don't want to win this time. I can only hope that whoever takes the lead for the Dems has their heart in the right place and a sturdy group to help them when they go into office. I truly hope that they not only want to be the first...whatever..president in American history but also one of the BEST American presidents in history. Quite a task, oh my, quite a task. “Politics is for the present, but an equation is for eternity.” Albert Einstein
