Name one
[Read the article: Cracking Code Pink]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]important group that ever really made any decent strides by acting like this and dressing up like its Halloween. The reality is most of America is too distracted by the 'shiny metal object channel' and their super size meals (and yes many are merely distracted by truly trying to survive in this wrecked economy and a society with whacked ideals)to pay attention to most important issues let alone get involved. Most people of any intellect can see what Code Pink is doing and admire their tenacity and purpose but their approach is just off putting. It ironically reminds me of myself as a teenager as a 70's punk rockers trying to out freak the rest to properly display my attitude and so very nihilistic, anarchistic intentions (of course all the while being absolutely adorable and sexy in my own odd way). No one took me very seriously even if I did have salient points to make about anything. Dress like a clown, get treated like a clown. More people from across a broader spectrum of ideologies will possibly take notice or at the very least give it a chance if they don't assume right from the beginning that the folks delivering the message not only don't take themselves seriously but perhaps suffer from some serious narcissism issues. I admire anyone that takes on the good cause but I must shake my head in disbelief when act like this. These women should have known better. Its hard enough, even today, for women to be listened to let alone given credit. Dressing up and jumping around like this simply diminished anything important they stood for. Good grief. By the way, I am all for individualism and being true to yourself and doing your own thing but I also understand that if I want anyone to listen to me and take me seriously I need approach the process in a way that convinces them. Often that involves putting my ego aside and down playing my 'individualism' for the bigger cause. I wish these ladies the best of luck yet beg they cool it with the costumes. Its simply just lame.

Finally
[Read the article: Do we need population control?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I did some online research about this topic only a few months ago only to find very little published. One article in the NYT about bringing condoms to India was about the only mainstream news source tackling this subject. This issue is obviously multi layered and not an easy one to address. How could we legislate birth? Also, understand that we humans are at this time in evolution the only (or at least the most impacting) species who without a doubt is breeding outside of the Darwinian model. Survival of the fittest? I look around and think not. Ive been talking about imposing either no tax exemption past child number two or a taxation over at the very least three for a few years now. The impact on society, the eco system and more are obviously greatly effected by this boom in population. We have more than doubled the earths population since the 1940's and what do we have to show for it? Not much good unless you call a chaotic global economy progress. Frankly society is failing as the numbers increase. More people equals more disenfranchised people. Educating women and supporting birth control and abortion rights are a GREAT idea but who is going to pay for this and moreover what about the troubling number of women who breed for far from altruistic reasons. The complexities of why people over breed are hard to control. Its sad but for far too many poor and under educated women in this country and I am sure many others have children to fill the holes in their lives. Their only sense of purpose being their children regardless of how terrible the circumstances their lives will be in. I surely have met far too many young intelligent women these days that dont seem to blink at the concept of having children on their own or with men that will never be truly supportive. Educated women too. It boggles my mind. One cant assume that any one, given the right resources or not, will make the correct choices. Lets face it, Americans do understand the long term medical complications associated with over eating and obesity yet united we stand as the fattest nation in the world. People choose to make the wrong choices. Obviously the Mike Judge film Idiocracy was meant to be a comedy but ironic it is. The problem isnt just that the population is booming but it also dumbing down exponentially. It IS time to start addressing this problem not only for the United States but for the world. To not see it as one of the MOST serious problems we face will lead to our demise. The planet will be fine without us, indeed thrive. Perhaps in the end that will be our legacy after all. We will be like the dinosaurs and who knows whats next.

Some times you just cant...
[Read the article: Cats behaving badly]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]explain why something is great. Ive attempted to explain Achewood to many but cant succinctly wrap it up. I had the same problem explaining Mr. Show. I was introduced to Achewood by my boyfriend and I will admit that at first I didn't get it and thought 'whatever, nerd'. Then I read the archives, kept at it and now I am an addict. My homepage is set to Achewood. It is twisted for sure but smart, wry and at times sheer brilliant insanity. Not for everyone at all and indeed that makes it all the better for me. Chris Onstad is a genius and Achewood rules.
