I'm no Hillary fan or apologist, but really. Last I heard...
LAURA BUSH ran over a teenage pal with a car and killed him -- Hillary didn't
LAURA BUSH raised a pair of twins who carry on like slutty lushes, smoking, drinking and essentially acting like idiots -- Hillary didn't
LAURA BUSH married a total moron who can't even pronounce the word "nuclear" -- Hillary didn't
LAURA BUSH is aiding and abetting her husband in turning back women's rights both here in the United States, and abroad -- Hillary didn't
Laura may position herself as the Mrs. Cleaver of the 21st century, but her crappy job as a mother, her poor choice of soouse, and her bad judgment as far as women's issues doesn't not make up for maintaining a tidy, well-decorated house.
Hey Laura -- I'd rather see the White House in disrepair, rather than my civil rights...
Oh LeCastor, you may sigh...but I harumph with great exasperation.
Do you not get that what I have a problem with is not that the Bush twins carry on like slutty lushes? I couldn't care less. I did myself at that age.
What I DO have a problem with is a "moral family values I'm no feminist focus on the family conservative nag wannabe June Cleaver" who holds herself up as some sort of scion of motherhood/womanhood/parenthood, and ends up raising a pair of twits.
Yes...those girls are twits.
Getting regularly trashed at every nightspot in town is not "liberated" -- it's just moronic.
Let's face it. The Bush twit-twins are taking up space on the planet while frying their brain cells (like Father, like daughters, it seems).
Meanwhile, Mama wants to hold herself up as the epitome of family values and demure motherhood.
Focus on your own damn family Laura...as it seems like you still have some work to do.
And LeCastor -- that WAS you I saw at Smith Point trying to ask Jenna to dance, wasn't it!
One of my favorite blogs is AdventureGirl, http://adventuregirl.journalspace.com
She's a Dubai-based flight attendant who travels around the world.
Just read her blog a bit (she's college educated, and quite a solid writer) and you'll see someone bright, interesting, with great heart, and joie de vivre. She's spent a few years as an int'l flight attendant and enjoyed every minute of it.
I'm in my 40s, have a degree from a good university, and have worked the corporate world, and now am very happily self-employed, but if I were in my 20s, and had it to do all over again, I might spend a few years being an Adventure Girl myself!
Plus, as a child myself of an airline family, when you work for an airline, you get non-rev standby employee travel benefits -- basically, almost no-cost flying -- interline deals with other airlines, and fantastic discounts at hotels and resorts -- which is a fabulous benefit for your off-time!!
Cary's on target -- GO FOR IT!!!
(Just make sure it's a decent airline. Check with "Ask the Pilot" for recommendations! ;-) )

This is not how an ally and friend in a "special relationship" ought to behave. It's a one-sided relationship at best.
Kohoutek, you are so right. But beyond one-sided, it's abusive.
Perhaps this particular comment would be better over at Cary's column, but to me, the U.S.-Israel relationship strikes me as an abusive one, with the U.S. playing the role of the abused wife.
And if he didn't marry a woman after 17 years and having 5 children, I doubt he's going to ever be into anyone.
Maybe commonlaw wife wised up after 17 years and decided to dump him to find a guy who WOULD make a commitment, and wanted more than a shack-up/knock-you up roomate...
But let's face it. If you want a commitment from you, you aren't getting it.
A man who has five children with a woman but doesn't marry her is a man who pathologically
CAN'T MAKE A COMMITMENT!!
And let's just hope that his success at skewering the Bushies doesn't land him a one-way trip to Guantanamo.
Will someone please remind me?
What's next? Honor killings?
Life under the Talibush....
For years, those of us in Washington have been suffering through endless breathless Style pieces by Ms. Givhan, detailing Condoleezza Rice's boots while on diplomatic mission to Germany, and the various designers favored by the First Ladies, and who wore what to what Congressional hearing or White House Dinner.
Since Washington is a near style-less city -- home of the clunky tennis shoes worn with ugly boring suits and "man" hair, Givhan is basically trying to eke out whatever little inklings of style she can find among the politicos. And eke she does.
If she can figure out a way to completely reduce important world issues to a matter of lapels, she does it.
I'm only surprised that the Post didn't give her a front page story to cover what everyone was wearing when "Stephen Colbert wasn't funny..."*
She is one of the reasons to give UP my subscription to the Washington Post, and finally just get the daily NY Times instead of just weekends.
Call me a disgusted Washingtonian, wearing jaunty but casual sweat pants, with dashes of color, and tank top is sober black, to reflect my cautious attitude about the Arab Israeli conflict
