I'm an Adoptive Mother of a Foreign-Born Baby And...

I thought it was hilarious!!

It's clearly satire, and I didn't find it at all offensive.

It's taking a direct -- and very much-needed -- hit at the stupid celebrity shows that ARE offensive. Those shows attempt to make a celebrity "trend" out of everything, and the foreign adoption issue is a favorite.

Of course, Angelina Jolie, Madonna and Meg Ryan do not a "trend" or boom make, but try telling that to the media!!!!

It was clear to me that Daily Show realizes how stupid it all is and that's why they chose to spoof it.

I have a baby boy adopted from Guatemala. And you want to know what IS offensive to the family of an adopted child? Well...

  • Idiotic celebretard shows that do psuedo-serious shows on the "Celebrity Baby Adoption Booms"
  • The fact that celebrities seem able to skirt the laws, speed through the paperwork, and get special treatment from the Office of Homeland Insecurity (and believe me, adopting a child from abroad is a lengthy, time-consuming, paperwork nightmare and bureaucratic monstrosity that often takes years, not months, as seems the case for the celebs)
  • TV, radio and print media who refer to Tom Cruise/Katie Holmes' baby Suri as being his first "real" child, after he was already father with Nicole Kidman to two adopted children for quite a long time
  • TV, radio and print media who insist on specifying that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's daughter Shiloh was "Born to the couple" or is their "natural" daughter, and always specifying that the other children were adopted, and where they were adopted from
  • TV, radio and print media who try to be sassy, jokey or hip by making snarky remarks about how foreign babies are designer accessories, or the new celebrity "must-have" or more common than handbag dogs on a celebrity's arm, etc. etc.
  • Newspapers that find one horrible story -- an adoption professional arrested, or the rare psycho who manages to slip through the cracks and adopt a child and then abuse him/her -- and then build an entire nightmarish anti-adoption story around that extreme and rare story
  • Reporters who cover stories like Guatemala adoption and only talk to the anti-adoption side of the story (I'm talking to YOU, New York Times!)
  • People who ask if my "bio" daughter and my son are "real" brothers and sisters
  • People who ask why my son's "real" mother "gave him up"
  • People who ask me "Did he cost a lot to get?"

Give Me a Break, Camille...Are you Working for Fox?

Camille blathers:

"Democrats have ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, the New York Times, Newsweek, Time and 98 percent of American humanities professors to do their bidding. But no, that's not enough -- every spark of dissent has to be extinguished with buckets of bile."

Yoohoo Camille. Guess what? It's time to actually

READ....THE....WORDS....and WATCH....THE...NEWS....

Because last I checked, ABC News has signed on Glenn Beck -- yes, right wing Arab-hating bigot extraordinaire -- as a NEWS commentator. Watch five minutes of Chris Matthews. Hell, watch CNBC except for Olbermann. Check out NBC Today Show when Lauer is slobbering all over Ann Coulter. Read the New York Times and one of its wiffle-waffley editorials about Bush.

All you have to do is have a pair of eyes, ears and brain to realize that the media is about as far from liberally biased these days as it could get. Frankly, almost all the media need a grow a big pair when it comes to their "bias." They're all a bunch of scared wusses running around basically acting as mouthpieces for the administration, and letting Bush, Cheney and company get away with whatever they want.

And you are just parroting the same old same old conservative nonsense.

Why should we expect more? And yet we do...

Big sigh...

Camille, the idea that the media is biased toward liberals is very last century, clearly debunked, and anyone who is operating in the world of reality has figured that out.

To perpetuate that worn out old lie is to act as a mouthpiece for the same conservative nonsense that we get from your beloved Fox.

Come on, Camille. Get with it, it's 2007 toots...

And come on, Salon, between the ceaseless promotion of Hillary Clinton, the regularly scheduled Obama-bashing, Debra Dickerson's blacker-than-thou-ness, and now, the return of everyone's least favorite Conservative in pseudo-liberal clothing, you are just in obvious free fall...
