I just wish all these men who have all the answers would stay out of my uterus. Truly, it belongs only to me.

  • BOYS vs. MEN

[Read the article: Well, you know, my kid had her purse stolen in Buenos Aires]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Since our fearless leader did not actually serve in the military, he's probably not aware that 'BOYS' (or 'GIRLS') do not enlist and serve. They are called MEN and WOMEN. BOYS don't actually have what it takes to really make a real sacrifice and a real commitment to our country. Not being able to make and KEEP that sacrifice or commitment (or we could call it cutting and runninng) is something a frightened BOY would do if he may have to, oh I don't know, fly a plane in combat maybe.

Sen-elect Webb's son is a MAN. I wouldn't expect GWB to understand the nuance there.

And so love Webb for not falling for the false empathy....glad I voted for him...

  • My advise ??

[Read the article: Should I stick with a failing business out of loyalty to my boss?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Be certain you are not replacing one failing company with another. As another poster said, you are thinking about working for a start-up. How many are successful in your industry?

If you leave, get your final paycheck and IMMEDIATELY go to the bank the check is drawn from and cash it. Trust me, I learned this painful and expensive lesson when I left a small, failing company and my final paycheck bounced.

    Good luck....

  • Al Lewis -- the 124 Can't Remebers DO mean something

[Read the article: Grilling Gonzales' fall guy]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I can recollect the last business meeting I was in where I was subjected to questions concerning my work and the work of others who report to me. Because MY company has expectations of intelligence and competence, I am not expected to answer 'I dunno' (as if I would speak to collegues or my boss that way) or 'I can't remember'. If I truly do not know the answer ( which does happen) I am expected to say that I will get the answer an report back in a defined period of time. Not sure where YOU might work where being that uninformed and/or THAT forgetful would be accepted.

Since this individual was (I assume) prepared for his testimony, his inability to remember is completely unacceptable. And if he and his handlers were unable to anticipate what would/could be asked they are beyond incompentent. And were probably hoping to coast by on arrogance and 'I don't remembers'. Please....spare me.

Let's not feel too sorry for these incompetent boobs who are finally facing the music.

  • Managing This Team.....

[Read the article: The workers I supervise are out of control]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I worked in IT -- technical stuff. Been doing it for over 11 years now and I'm a woman. I have worked with and for men and women managers. Mostly THEY have been more concerned with moving up the corporate ladder than actually managing their teams. So what? There was always someone on the team (female or male) who stepped up rallied the troops and the jobs got done.

Ignore the petty 'she won't eat lunch with me' and other frankly common female crap (sorry, but seen it WAY too often. And guys just do not do that!). Just don't engage. You are the manager, LW, MANAGE your team. Perhaps you might want to examine the composition of the team itself. Just because a group of workers have similar skill sets does not mean they will make a good team. It's your job to be aware of that when forming the team. If you inherited the team, then you should have reveiwed their resumes, reviews, and other feedback when you took over the team. You know perhaps your team isn't quite as skilled as you think and hid their fear behind petty little office battles.

Right now I happen to manage a team of IT workers who are skilled AND all female. And my boss is female and her boss is female and HER boss is female. IMAGINE! And none of us play those stupid girly games. And we are all capable of doing our jobs -- we joke around and have private conversations but do not play these high school lunch room dramas.

LW, YOU as the manager have to handle this. Female or male has nothing to do with it. Figure out why your team is not working. Disengage from the drama. Get rid of the trouble makers -- even if they happen to be your better workers. Cause if you don't, you can bet that one of those menopausal women is gunning for your job.

  • Well, I ask...

[Read the article: For Romney, a double fault on illegal immigrants]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I'm as Democratic as they come but I've asked the owners of the roofing company that re-did my roof this year, the tree service company that removed a bunch of trees this spring, and the company that cleans my house if all of their workers are documented.

I will not reward a business by hiring them if they hire illegal aliens. Plus I figure if they are hiring illegal aliens what else are they doing wrong? Yes, they may lie to me. But one tree service company owner said he never checked the paperwork of his crews so i told him thanks but no thanks.

Why is this so wrong? We can punish the BUSINESS OWNER by not using them. We can start asking the questions instead of waiting for Washington to do something.
